So its a weird line but Nightvale is definitely horror. However i would specifically call it existential horror comedy.

The line between horror and comedy is very thin at the best of times (looking at "So bad its good" horror movies for example) and wtnv manages to balance the existential horror that makes up its world with the absurdist humor of Cecils radio show. In any other situation a cloud that rains dead animals would be an apocalyptic event. In nightvale its on the school board.

There are also some episodes that are just straight up horror. The woman from Italy comes to mind.

Tiktok SEEMS like it fills the same ecological niche as Tumblr circa 2014, but everything that happens on tiktok is the result of some multitrillion dollar conglomerate setting a Rube Goldberg machine I'm motion that makes people act insane , and this leads to an increase in profits for someone somehow. Tumblr was just good old fashioned mass hysteria.
