It seems so obvious but it's so tempting to front load your story with lore and setup and I'm here to tell you: no. Bad. Start it at the start of the story, not at the start of the worldbuilding!

Authors, don't do this, even putting aside matters of cringe, it's just not pleasant to read. It's meandering and lacks stakes and structure.

I'm actually curious now:
If you're a reader, and you realize the book you paid money for is RP logs edited to the point it at least resembles a book, but not to the point you can't recognize what it originally was, do you consider this:

#cause on one hand yeah people publish fanfic all the time#on the other#fanfic is at least meant to be a book#rp is a game#and this just at points is hard to read specifically because it was claerly originally meant for the enjoyment of two people#and two people only
