Akechi thought he was so fucking smart but when he was with the PT they all openly hated his guts, like just telling him to shut the fuck up every time he opened his mouth, and it still never occurred to him that they might be onto him.
Makoto thinks they're intellectual rivals, but it turns out that he's able to catch them just by having advanced knowledge of the metaverse unlike Makoto who figures it out from scratch. That's an important plot point, once she knows he's been cheating she pretty easily and completely outwits him, and he doesn't realize he's been played cause of his ego.
He was stupid and it was great! We really lost that in Royale
Royale ruined Akechi, he was so much cooler when he was just a dude who fucking sucked who isn't even that smart. Giving him a deep philosophical opposition to Maruki's dream world sucks, he's not a big thinker, he's best as an edgy idiot who literally had to have his ass kicked to see sense. Now he's just boring yaoi bait and while I do maintain that yaoi is the bravest and noblest thing you can aspire towards it does come at the cost of what made Akechi fun.

Ok now I've had a chance to actually finish this show (it was really good!) it doesn't even make New Vegas non canonical at all, like it ends with a tease for a season set in New Vegas like you guys are fucking idiots
New Vegas has been liberated from Todd's awful canon why are you all so mad this is a win for us
That brief window in the late 2000's/early 2010's where licensed video games died and were replaced with crummy straight to DVD movie tie ins, i'm talking Dead Space Downfall, Dante's Inferno: the Animated Epic, Heavenly Blade the Movie, the weird ass FFXV live action movie. I wonder why they stopped making those, personally I'd love to see a crummy low budget Skull and Bones movie or whatever
"The tragic origin story of Vault Boy" is the kind of thing you'd expect to be written as a joke by someone pitching the worst possible story to do in the Fallout universe but the Fallout show does it and makes it work like how the fuck
