The best decision The Mandalorian ever made was centering their show around an archetypal masked, taciturn gunslinger who wanders from town to town never putting down roots, and then revealing that he acts that way because he’s a massively awkward introvert who uses that archetype to avoid having to socialize with people beyond the three interaction scripts he already knows. 10/10, top tier characterization, I love seeing this man outshoot a bar full of people and then get scammed by a random mechanic because he’s too polite to confront her about it. Truly a hero of our times.

Banter (ch. 5)
Series: Banter
Pairing: Roy Kent x f!Reader
Summary: Keeley gives you some much needed advice. You and Roy finally talk about your feelings.
A/N: Sorry for the delay with this chapter! Motivation is a fickle mistress and this chapter is a bit shorter than I’d like it to be, but thank you for your patience!

The next morning you wake up to a text from Keeley insisting on a coffee date to debrief the night before unless quote-unquote “Roy already made you breakfast in bed.”
You ignore the joke and tell her you’ll meet her at your favorite cafe near the stadium.
"Did you and Roy talk all night?" Keeley asks before your butt can make contact with your seat.
Keeley already has your latte and croissant sitting in front of you which would be a kind gesture from your friend if it wasn’t coupled with Keeley literally bouncing up and down across from you, leaning in as if she’s worried she’ll miss anything.
"Yeah," You reply. "I don't know, it was weird," You admit with a shrug.
"Good weird or bad weird?" She asks with an eye wiggle.
"Well we stayed at Ola’s until Sam kicked us out and so I asked him if he wanted to go for a drink so we could keep talking, right? And then we were at the pub until late, still talking. And he walked me home, but then I was like standing outside my flat, waiting for the goodnight kiss and he just... left?" You explain.
"I made eyes at him and everything," You tell Keeley with a groan. "God, it was so embarrassing."
“Woah,” Keeley murmurs as you place your head in your hands.
It’s not until your shoulders start to shake that Keeley pushes out of her chair and comes to crouch beside you.
“Hey! Hey! You’re alright!” Keeley consoles you as she rubs her hand on your back.
You laugh mirthlessly as you look up at her and Keeley breathes a sigh of relief when she  realizes you’re laughing and not crying.
“I know I just, I think I’m really starting to like him which is just… shit,” You tell her.
“Remember what we talked about?” Keeley asks you as she grabs your hand and squeezes it tightly.
“You need to be upfront and honest with him about your feelings. Roy’s not a mindreader. Obviously,” She points out. “So maybe you just need to ask him what’s up.”
“I can’t do that I-” You stammer out in mild panic.
It’s one thing to be rejected in the sense that you’re left at your door, kissless, it’s an entirely different thing to explicitly state your interest and be brutally rejected with words. You’re not sure you can handle the latter.
“Yes you can,” Keeley cuts you off. “You are a strong, capable woman who can do anything she puts her mind to, and Roy would be fucking lucky to have you.”
“I’ll ask him,” You reply with a nod as you set your determination.
“Good girl,” Keeley replies.
“I’ll go ask him right now,” You say as you move to stand up.
“Oh,” Keeley murmurs, her eyes widening as she watches you stand up and collect your things.
“Why not? Right?” You offer her with a shrug.
“Yeah,” Keeley replies. Though she’s suddenly wondering if she’s possibly too good at motivational speeches. “Um, do you want me to come with you?”
“I think I have to do this on my own,” You tell her. “I’ll let you know how it goes.”
Tumblr media
“Roy!” You shout as you march through the AFC Richmond hallway, trying to catch up to the dark-haired man striding down the hall towards the coaches' offices.
“Hey,” Roy greets you as he turns to see you headed in his direction.
“Do you want a croissant?” You ask as you push the bag into his hands before he can even respond.
“This croissant has a bite taken out of it,” He points out as he pulls it out of the bag. “I know, I got hungry while I was walking over here,” You tell him.
“But that’s not why I’m here,” You tell him as you try to get yourself back on track before you lose the sudden burst of self-confidence that carried you the four blocks here.
"Do you like me or don't you?" You ask him.
"Of course I like you," Roy replies.
Oh.
Your chest deflates significantly with relief. That was way easier than you thought it would be. And the ideal outcome.
Except you’re still confused.
"Well, then why didn't you kiss me last night?" You ask him as your brows furrow again with the reminder of why exactly you’re so confused by this man. “The hot-and-cold, mixed signals are doing my head in.”
"I like to take things slow," Roy tells you. “And I don’t want to rush into things before I understand where you’re at.”
"But you do? Like me, I mean?"  You ask.
"Of course I fucking like you," Roy replies. "Even after you brutally fucking rejected me I liked you."
"You rejected me!"
"No I fucking didn't," Roy replies, shaking his head. "You walked out of that restaurant before I could even say anything and then told me that being seen with me was a fucking embarrassment."
"That's not how-"
"If either of us is hot-and-cold and impossible to read it's you," He tells you
"But-"
Roy cuts you off.
"I fucking like you, (Y/N), and if I need to keep telling you that every fucking day until it sinks in I'll do it, but only if you admit that you have feelings for me too."
"I-I do,” You reply. "Like you," You tell him.
"I like you a lot, Roy," You tell him.
"Well, there we go," Roy replies. “That wasn’t too hard now was it?”
"But what does that mean?" You ask. "What do we do now?"
"I have one idea," Roy says as he closes the gap between you two and moves forward to cup your face in his hands.
His lips are pressed against yours and the hand curls around to cup your neck before you can get your brain firing on all cylinders.
Roy Kent is kissing you.
Roy Kent is kissing you in the middle of the hallway in your place of work.
His place of work.
You break apart as quickly as you were pulled together.
"I..." You stall as your brain struggles to form the words you want to say.
"What are you doing tonight?" Roy asks you in a low voice as his thumb traces over the curve of your cheek.
"Normally I'd say something like, you," You reply as you gaze back at him. The heat of that kiss still fresh in your mind. "But apparently you want to take it slow."
"Fuck slow," Roy growls.
God, he's the hottest man you've ever met.
"Come over to my place, I'll make us dinner," He tells you.
"As long as you kiss me like that again I'll go wherever you want."
"Tonight," He promises. And you don’t know if it’s about the date or the kiss or the unspoken thing you’re definitely both thinking about right now as you can feel Roy’s eyes tracing down your body.
“Tonight,” You agree before you take a step back and turn to head out before you do something truly reckless.
Like shagging a football coach in a closet.
You’re halfway down the hallway when you realize you’ve forgotten something.
“My croissant!” You shout as you turn around.
“My croissant now, you gave it to me, remember?” Roy replies before he pulls it out of the bag and takes a bite before heading into his office.
Tonight. You remind yourself as you walk out of the training facility. You just need to keep a handle on yourself until tonight.

would y/n and Anthony have kids? Ik u don’t write pregnancy I love art is to feel sm 🫶🫶🫶🫶💕💕💕💕💕
Definitely! I don’t think Anthony and (y/n) have kids right away (most people don’t get pregnant as easily as the Bridgertons seem to lmao) but after a few years of marriage I think they have at least two or three kids.
But (Y/N) definitely makes a decision that she and Anthony need to stop after 2/3 because as much as I think they'd be great parents having something like 8 kids would be way too much for them.

Banter (Ch. 4)
Series: Banter

A/N: I cried twice during this week's episode, how are you guys doing?

Tumblr media
"Keeley..." You singsong as you walk up to where she and Rebecca are staking a claim in front of the bartender.
"What did you say to Roy?" You ask her as you lean your face toward hers, making an effort to keep your voice low seeing as the man in question is only on the other side of this relatively small restaurant.
"I'm not sure I know what you mean," Keeley replies with such a convincing tone of innocence that you’d almost believe her if it weren’t for the fact that Roy Kent was staring at you with such unabashed intensity that you felt like you might combust.
"He's...looking at me," You whisper-hiss in her direction. Causing both women to look over your shoulder to where Roy is sitting with Jamie Tartt, Jamie going on about something while Roy continues to stare in your direction.
“God, he really is intense, isn’t he?” Rebecca comments as she turns back to you, sipping her drink.
You purse your lips to keep yourself from snapping at your newfound friend.
You know this is amusing to Keeley and Rebecca, everything about your love life is amusing to these women, but you’re having a hard time laughing about it when everyone else knows just as much about your business as you do. And how it sometimes feels like they know stuff you don’t know.
“I need to know why all of that intensity is aimed in my direction, and Keeley’s my best bet,” You reply as you stare at your best friend expectantly.
“Nothing! I just encouraged him to explore the relationship- friendship between you two!” Keeley defends.
“Go say hi to your new friend,” She adds as she prods at your side.
You sigh but move to say hello to him anyway.
Jamie has disappeared off to somewhere else by the time you move to this side of the room.
"Hi... friend," You greet Roy as you come up to him with an awkward smile, your hand coming up in a half-wave, half-fist bump that just makes it look like you greet people by punching the air.
Cool.
"Right," Roy replies gruffly as he frowns down at you.
"This place is nice, I'm impressed," You comment as you glance around the space.
When Keeley had invited you and explained that one of the AFC Richmond players had started a restaurant you kind of expected it to be like most celebrity-owned establishments, completely detached from that person other than the use of their name to get people in the door. With little care for anything other than making money.
But you were pleasantly surprised, Sam clearly had a lot of oversight here as owner, he was helping deliver plates to people’s tables, checking in with the chef, and making the rounds to ensure everyone was having a good time.
Not to mention the fact that the food looked absolutely amazing.
Sam cared a lot about sharing his culture and food. And it showed.
"Maybe Sam should quit and become a full-time restaurateur,” You comment as the man in question sneaks around the two of you with two plates in his hands.
"Don't you fucking dare put that idea in his head," Roy replies. “The team needs him.”
"You'd figure it out,” You say with a wave of your hand. “Ted and Beard are both pretty smart guys," You add with a small smile.
"And you too, I guess," You add with a sigh, smiling at Roy as he takes your teasing remarkably well given your past.
"How have you been?" Roy asks you.
"Oh, um, good," You reply with a nod. “You?”
“Shit,” Roy replies.
“Oh… um…” You stammer as you glance at his expression nervously. Only to see him staring back at you as straight-faced as always but with a glimmer of something behind his eyes that has your short-lived anxiety quickly morphing into relief and amusement.
“You’re fucking with me, aren’t you?” You reply as you hit his upper arm with your palm.
“Yeah, glad you finally noticed,” Roy replies.
You smile up at him for a moment before a server with another platter of delicious-looking food walks past you.
“Watching all of this food come out is making me extremely jealous, do you want to order some food to share?” You ask as you gesture toward an open table in the corner.
“Yeah,” Roy replies.
As you move to sit down you miss the look that Roy and Keeley share.
Tumblr media
As it turns out, talking to Roy is easy.
You’d initially been a little worried that with your nervous energy and hatred of long pauses that trying to make conversation would be like pulling teeth, but once the two of you get going you can’t stop.
“What do you mean?!” You shout as Roy finishes telling you the story of how his ex-girlfriend stole his Rolex and sold it for drug money.
“I said what I said,” Roy replies.
You burst into laughter at the whole story.
“Uh oh,” You mutter as you see Sam out of the corner of your eye start to put chairs up on the tables.
And then you glance around to realize everyone else is gone except for Sam and his employees.
Keeley and Rebecca had bid you goodnight a little while ago but everyone else had still been here then.
“I think Sam is trying to very politely tells us to fuck off,” Roy replies as you pull your phone out of your bag to realize how late it’s gotten.
And get a glimpse at a series of texts from Keeley almost exclusively consisting of emojis including but not limited to the peach, eggplant, and explosion emojis.
“Do you want to go get a drink? There’s a pub down the road that makes good cocktails,” You ask Roy when you turn back to him.
“Yeah,” Roy replies as he moves to stand up.
“Thanks for tonight, Sam, this place is seriously amazing, it’s going to be a huge success, I can already tell,” You tell Sam with a smile as you and Roy make your way to the door.
“Good food,” Roy adds from beside you.
“Thank you so much for coming,” Sam replies with a grin. “And I hope you’ll stop in again soon.”
“Oh, we will,” You reply without even thinking about it before you head out with one last wave.
We. You said we. Putting you and Roy into a shared unit without even thinking about it.
And you didn’t hate it.
As your brain spirals Roy switches over the walk on your other side, his hand ghosting the small of your back as he places himself between you and the road. A move that you’ve only read about in books. Or heard about on TikTok from people who apparently have better boyfriends than you’ve ever had.
The spiral pops an embarrassing story of your own into your brain.
“I once had a boyfriend who was stealing money from my wallet and when I caught him he claimed it was a ‘boyfriend tax’,” You blurted out as you glanced over at Roy. Filling the silence with your rambling.
“Your terrible ex story reminded me,” You add.
Roy looks down at you and stops dead in his tracks as he turns to face you more completely. You stop walking too and take a step back to glance back at him.
“What was his name?” Roy asks.
“Br– wait, I’m not telling you that,” You stop yourself when you realize what he means. “I can’t let you go to jail for murder.”
“You don’t know that it was going to be murder,” Roy replies.
You laugh.
“C’mon,” You say as you loop your arm around Roy’s and pull him along to come with you. “Let’s go get that drink. Maybe I’ll tell you his name after I’ve had a few.”
Tumblr media
After the change in locations you’re ready for the mood to shift and for you to down a quick drink and bug out as whatever weird truce you and Roy have going on fizzles. But the conversation continues to flow even better as the two of you share a few more drinks.
Once it becomes truly too late that even the bar crowd is starting to think Roy offers to walk you home.
"Thanks for walking me home," You tell Roy when you reach the door to your flat. "I'd ask you to come in but it's probably way past your bedtime with practice tomorrow."
"Yeah," Roy replies.
"Tonight was fun, I'm glad we were able to break the ice," You say as you glance down at Roy’s lips. Waiting for him to look at you and do the same.
But his eyes don’t move from the top half of your face.
"Me too.”
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow- today technically," You add.
"Goodnight, (Y/N)," Roy says with a small smile.
"Goodnight," You reply.
And then Roy turns on his heels and walks down the hallway.
You watch him disappear down the staircase before you turn and shove your key into your door.
"Goodnight," You mutter to yourself as you push open your door. "What the fuck?!"

Shutterbug: Hey
Shutterbug: Can we talk?
Tumblr media
You messaged Roy two days ago and still hadn’t gotten a response.
Maybe he’d deleted the app. You’d certainly been tempted to after your failed date.
But Keeley was right. You needed to talk to him. To properly communicate now that you weren’t dealing with heightened emotions.
That’s what a real adult did. And God above did you want to behave like an adult.
But you were also dreading it. Keeley had made you second guess your assumptions about that night. You’d barely had time to dissect your own feelings about discovering it had been Roy that you’d been talking to for weeks. How that affected your feelings about him. It made sense that perhaps you’d been a bit too hasty in deciphering his own feelings about it based on his unreliable facial expressions.
But maybe Keeley was just giving you false hope. After two days with no answer, it was hard to read into that anything other than disinterest. Or maybe even some outright disdain.
Tumblr media
“Roy!” You shouted.
You were back at AFC Richmond today to meet with Keeley and Rebecca. You had proofs to show them from the shoots and even though you had initially wished this meeting could have been virtual – or better yet – an email.
But now that you could see Roy Kent’s all-black form heading down the hallway ahead of you this presented a unique opportunity for you to put on your big girl pants and attempt a conversation.
Though, even with your ear-piercing shout that had caused every other person walking through the halls to turn and stare at you, Roy seemed to be intentionally ignoring you.
“Roy!” You tried again. Now walking at a near pace just below a jog to catch up to him.
You heard a grunt in response this time.
When you reach him he finally turns around and you try to remind yourself that the glare on his face is a permanent resident so as to not deter you from saying what you need to say.
“I just wanted to clear the air,” You tell him as he stares back at you.
“After last week and the whole… y’know,” You add to fill the silence.
“Mhmm,” Roy grunts.
“I just wanted to apologize if I came across rudely that night,” You continue. “I think we were both just surprised and obviously you wouldn’t have even shown up if you knew it was me so I’m sorry.”
You catch Roy’s bushy eyebrows furrow slightly and he parts his lips as if he wants to interject but he doesn’t say anything.
“We’re going to have to see each other around,” You continue. “Keeley keeps adding shoot days to this project.”
“Can we just… I don’t know, be friends?” You ask. “Colleagues?”
“Colleagues it is,” Roy replies with a nod.
“Great!” You reply with a relieved smile.
“See you around, Roy,” You tell him as you head up the stairs to Rebecca Welton’s office.
Tumblr media
“You’ll be very proud of me, Keels, I just spoke to Roy in the hallway and neither of us yelled or insulted the other,” You announce as you walk through the open door leading into Rebecca’s office to see Keeley sitting in one of the chairs in front of her desk, her legs hooked over the armrest.
Keeley simply grins at you and you hear a small chuckle from the side of the room and see Rebecca Welton in all her glory fixing herself a cup of tea while she glances over her shoulder at you in clear amusement.
“Oh! Hi, Rebecca!” You exclaim as you try to figure out how to backtrack out of the personal information you just shared about yourself with the women signing your paychecks for this gig.
“Hello,” She greets you with a smile as she gestures for you to take a seat next to Keeley while she makes her way to sit behind her desk.
“Is that an impressive feat for you and Roy? Not arguing?” Rebecca asks.
“Um, yes,” You tell her. “This is the first time we’ve managed that.”
“Ah,” Rebecca replies with a nod.
“They matched on Bantr and their first date didn’t exactly go to plan,” Keeley adds.
“Keeley!” You hiss as you reach out to swat your friend and her oversharing.
“Oh, don’t worry about it, it happens to the best of us,” Rebecca reassures you. “I’m happy to share any number of my dating horror stories if it will make you feel better. But seeing as the most glaring one is plastered all over the tabloids every week I’m guessing you have some idea.”
“Rupert Manion’s a dick,” You reply without even thinking about it, causing Rebecca to choke on the sip of tea she’d just taken.
“That’s what I always tell her!” Keeley emphatically agreed.
“I can see why you two are friends now,” Rebecca replies with a small shake of her head.
“Should we look at the proofs before we end up tracking down a feminist rally and burning all our bras?” You offer as you pull your iPad out of your bag.
“Yes, plenty of time for all that after the meeting,” Rebecca replies, shooting you a look.
You grin back. Now you understand why Keeley likes Rebecca so much, you’re already bordering on obsessed with this woman.
You spend the next hour showing them your work and discussing how it can be used for the team’s marketing and communications before you work on coming up with a plan for what else they still need.
By the end of the meeting, you’ve made great headway on your plan and you’re also already ready for a drink.
“There’s a great little cocktail bar a few blocks down, should we toast to your amazing work and our success?” Rebecca asks as your trio walks down the hallway out to the car park.
“I’m always down for a drink or three,” You reply with a grin.
“Keels?” You ask as you turn to see if Keeley is down to come out too. You can’t imagine Keeley ever turning down the option to go out, but you never know. But when you glance at her she’s glancing back down the hallway at something.
“Yes! Totally!” Keeley replies after a moment. I just need to grab something from my office real quick, but I’ll meet you two there, kay?”
“Okay,” Rebecca replies. “Shall we?”
“Yeah, we’ll order your first glass,” You tell Keeley before heading out the door behind Rebecca.
Tumblr media
Keeley turns on her heels once the door closes behind you and Rebecca and makes a beeline down the hallway to where Roy is in his office playing with lineups on a whiteboard.
“Roy,” Keeley calls softly as she pokes her head through the door.
“Keeley,” Roy greets her as he glances up at her briefly.
“I heard about what happened,” She tells him.
“Fucking hell,” Roy replies with a sigh. Trying not to let his irritation at anyone knowing about his vulnerability show. Even if that person is only Keeley. One of the nicest people he knows. But the sympathy or pity or whatever you want to call it in her voice is grating.
“And when you just walked past us you looked like a grumpy little kitty so I wanted to check on you,” Keeley says.
“I didn’t-” Roy hisses before he catches himself and takes a deep breath. “I don’t need your fucking pity, Keeley.”
“I know, but I’m also (Y/N)’s best friend, and I know how hard it is for her to be vulnerable. Frankly, I’m surprised that the two of you ending up on a date didn’t go worse. You two are some of the worst communicators I’ve ever met.”
“Thanks?”
“What I’m trying to say,” Keeley says as she tries to get herself back on track. “Is that you both suck at being vulnerable. And a blind date with someone you already have some tension with was bound to blow up in your faces. And that’s no one’s fault! But she really liked you, Roy, the version of you that she met on the app. And she likes Roy Kent too, as much as she would hate to admit it.”
“If you both want to, I think you two should try again,” She tells Roy.
“She told me earlier that she just wanted to be friends,” Roy replies as he shakes his head at Keeley. “She doesn’t like me. I’d have to be a fucking idiot not to understand that.”
“Because she thinks that’s what you want,” Keeley argues. “She thinks that you’re the one that doesn’t like her and you obviously think the opposite.”
“The two of you need to be honest about your feelings and figure this out,” She tells her.
“I’m going to bring her to Sam’s restaurant opening,” Keeley adds. “Talk to her.”
Roy watches Keeley turn to leave and stares at the now-closed door to the office as he tries to process everything she just told him.
Could you really like him back but have rejected him in some strange self-defense mechanism? Roy would hate the idea of someone doing that to him if I didn’t know in the back of his mind that he had done the same thing.
How is he supposed to set the lineup for the Manchester United game with all of this shit in his head?
“FUCK!” He hisses as he turns back to the board in front of him.
“Oh!” a small voice squeaks and Roy whips around to see Will standing at the door with a box of cleats. “I just- I’ll just um, I’m going to-”
“Spit it out!” Roy huffs. “I’ll just leave these here,” Will whispers as he sets the box down and essentially runs out of the room.
Now what was Roy supposed to do?

I was curious as to what the line through ch.3 of banter means? If it's just not written yet or if it's an abandoned series?
Good question! That's just how I organize the masterlist for a series that isn't complete! So Ch. 3 isn't done yet but is coming soon!

I just stumbled into the Ted Lasso fanfic tags to see what people were writing. I landed on the first Chapter of Banter and—Wow! Your grasp on the characters is insane! Your prose is so fluid and it feels like it could be actual dialogue. From one writer to another, thank you for practicing your craft and sharing your work with us. I hope you forever have fun writing. You’re damn good at it.
Cheers! 🥂
omg this is such a huge compliment! I can't thank you enough!

Starlight (Pt. 2)
Series: Starlight
Pairing: Din Djarin x Jedi!Reader
Summary: You begin your travels with the Mandalorian.
A/N: I still believe that they blew up the Razor Crest in s2 because ppl were being too horny about it which is why I refuse to write in a universe where Din flies the new ship. How is he supposed to fuck in a one-seater???
Tumblr media
You’d never been inside the Razor Crest before. You’d seen its exterior plenty of times, from a distance, but your familiarity stopped at the door. You took in its humble interior, the bare necessities. Mando leads you up the ladder to the cockpit and you set Grogu in your lap as you strapped yourself into the passenger seat.
You were tired of hiding. Of being alone. Grogu’s presence had made you keenly, painfully, aware of how it feels to be alone in the universe.
But you’re not sure why you decided to ask this man of all people. No, that’s not true. You know why you asked him. You saw the way that Grogu was with him. The memories Grogu had shared with you as you’d grown closer had made one thing crystal clear.
The Mandalorian would stop at nothing to protect Grogu.
And that knowledge heartened you. You knew you would be safe with him.
You’re all quiet as Mando takes off and you fly into space.
It’s all a bit overwhelming if you’re being completely honest. You feel like a child. Like you’ve never seen space before. Which isn’t true, but it’s been so long that you’d forgotten how it feels.
When Mando puts the ship into hyperdrive you gasp.
Mando’s head turns sharply to look at you.
“We used to travel all the time, when I was a padawan, before the empire,” You explain as you continue to stare out in wonder. “But I’d forgotten…”
“Sit here,” Mando says as he stands from the chair.
Your eyes flicker to him for a moment. You hesitate as you glance at the pilot’s seat he’d vacated.
“We’re on autopilot in lightspeed,” Mando assures you when he sees you hesitate. “Sit,” He repeats.
You nod as you pull Grogu back into your arms and stand before shuffling awkwardly into the small space of the cockpit and taking the seat.
You sit in front of the windshield, your eyes wide as you stare out in unabashed wonder. Sitting in the pilot seat the windows surround you and movement through space surrounds you on all sides.
It’s perfect.
Grogu seems to love it too. Or at least, appreciates your excitement as he coos happily. You finally pull your gaze away to smile down at Grogu.
Grogu reaches his arms out in the direction of his father and you happily pass him into Mando’s open arms.
“Thank you,” You tell him as you look at him. Hoping your appreciation is clear on your face.
Tumblr media
“I have a few bounties to pick up,” Mando tells you.
“Okay,” You reply. “Where are we starting?”
“I,” He emphasizes before he answers your question. “Need to go to Corellia. Then Tatooine.”
“Okay,” You reply.
“You won’t be able to leave the ship when we land on Corellia, it’s not safe. But Tatooine will be okay, you can explore a little.”
“Grogu and I will be just fine here on the ship,” You tell him with a nod. “Won’t we, Grogu?” You add as you look down at Grogu from where he’s sat in Mando’s lap.
Grogu coos happily aloud.
Explore.
He communicates to you through the force.
“Exactly, we’ll explore the Razor Crest,” You reply aloud so that Mando can get at least part of the conversation. Normally you wouldn’t need to speak to communicate with Grogu, but you figure it would be rude to leave Mando out.
“Just leave the weapons cabinet locked,” Mando replies. “And don’t let him out of your sight.”
You want to be defensive, offended by the notion that you would put Grogu in danger. You’ve been caring for the child for months without issue - well, without any major issues. But something in Mando’s tone makes you think it’s less to do with you and more to do with Grogu’s penchant for getting himself into trouble.
“Of course,” You reply with a nod.
Tumblr media
The moment you land on Corellia, Mando disappears. He parks the ship in a hangar and repeats everything he said before about staying on the ship and not doing anything dangerous.
You open your mouth to remind him that you were trained as a Jedi but think better of it and hold your tongue.
He pauses to say goodbye to Grogu and to tell you he’ll be back with the bounty in the next 36 hours.
You and Grogu pass the time with training. It’s easy to lose track of time while meditating but Grogu doesn’t have the patience for it so you can’t get any actual meditation done unless he’s sleeping or playing somewhere you don’t need to watch him so closely.
You play games. Passing small toys back and forth using the force or chasing him around the cargo bay of the ship. A game of hide and seek goes on for hours even though Grogu never wants to be the seeker.
Grogu’s asleep in his cradle with Mando returns.
You’re sitting on a box of cargo enjoying the piece of quiet when the airlock opens and your eyes snap open and you silently slip down from your seat and move back towards the wall of the ship.
It’s only been eleven hours since Mando left.
The bounty is still conscious as Mando drags him up the ramp and into the cargo hold.
You stand in the shadows of the bay, your back pressed against the hull of the ship.
“Oh hello there,” The bounty greets you, causing Mando’s attention to snap to where you’re partially obscured from view. “Who are you?” The man asks with a wicked grin.
You know better than to reply. Simply staying where you are as your eyes silently track his movements. Not that he’ll get even close to you before Mando intervenes.
“I always had a feeling you Mandalorians were secretly freaky,” The man says with a glance over his shoulder at Mando. “You keep a little concubine on your ship? She’s just waiting for you to get back, isn’t she? Ready and willing? She certainly looks soft. Pliant. Do you ever let someone-”
The bounty’s taunting is cut off by their garbled shriek as Mando suddenly grabs him by the shoulders and pushes him into the cryo-freeze roughly before the blast of the chamber goes off.
You both wait for the machine to finish and stand in the silence of the ship for a moment before Mando turns around to face you.
“I’m-” Mando starts.
“It’s alright,” You tell Mando quickly. You step out from behind the cargo to step closer to him. “I knew he couldn’t hurt me. Not with you right there.”
“Right,” Mando’s voice comes through his vocoder roughly. “I’m sorry you had to hear those things. I would never…”
A huff of laughter burst from your throat.
“We both know I’m not your mistress,” You tell him with a small smile. “I’m not too concerned with the opinions of a criminal who is now frozen into a slab of carbon.”
“Good,” Mando replies with a nod.
“I’ll go chart our course to Tatooine,” He adds. “If you want to watch us take off.”
“I’d love to,” You reply with a grin. “I’ll see if Grogu is awake.”
You open the door to the cot to find Grogu awake and eagerly cooing at you from his cradle.
“Your dad’s back,” You tell him softly. “We get to go back into space now.”
You pick him up as he coos and makes grabby hands upward so you carry him up to the cockpit.
The two of you quietly watch as Mando maneuvers out of the hangar and into the atmosphere.
The jump into hyperspace is less jarring for you this time, but equally delightful and you sit contently to watch the stars stream past you.
Eventually, Grogu falls back asleep and you slowly stand up to take him back downstairs to sleep again.
Once he’s tucked back into his cradle you decide to stay down in the cargo hold and explore the rest of the ship more closely. This is the place that’s going to be your home now so you decide to get properly familiar with the space.
You don’t even consider that this might be invasive until you press a button that opens up Mando’s weapons storage.
You’re not surprised. Even when he had come to see you he’d been laddened down with as many weapons as he could strap to himself. It’s what you first noticed about him when he’d come looking for you. There was no chance to consider speaking first when someone comes looking for you covered in that much weaponry.
And he has a whole host of specialty blasters and other weapons in storage. They must be worth a small fortune which is crazy considering how many concerning noises you’ve heard the Razor Crest make since you’ve taken off.
You almost miss the small black hilt in the corner of the cache.
But you sense it even as your eyes nearly pass right over it.
You pull it out of its place before you can help yourself. Just like you ignite it before you can think better of it.
You gasp when you see the black blade that extends itself out.
“What are you doing?” Mando’s voice cuts through your now-racing thoughts.
You quickly extinguish the blade and turn around.
“Where did you get this?” You ask him. You try not to sound angry. And mostly you don’t, it’s almost all confusion. You know what this is. At least. You’re nearly certain you do. You’ve never seen it before.
Obviously.
But you’ve heard many stories about the Darksaber. “I won it,” Mando replies plainly. As if you’re just holding a normal blaster. Not a mythological weapon.
“I’m sorry,” You reply. Shaking your head from one side to the other in disbelief. “You’re the wielder of the Darksaber?” “I don’t want it,” He replies.
As if that means anything. “But it is yours,” You protest. “You’re the rightful ruler of Mandalore?” You ask as you look down at the saber still held in your hand.
You push it into his own hands, watching as he hooks it onto a loop on his waist that you hadn’t noticed before, hidden among his armor and cape.
“Who are you, Mando?” You ask, your brows furrowed as you study him curiously. A small smile turns up the corner of your mouth as you look at him in mild amusement.
It really is a true wonder that you’ve found each other.
“Din,” Mando’s voice replies after a moment. “My name is Din Djarin.”

“Fuck.”
“Absolutely not,” You mutter as you grab your bag and pull it over your shoulder, moving to push past Roy and get out of this already embarrassing situation before it can become truly pathetic.
You are not letting this man embarrass you. Not any more than he already has.
God. You’d liked him so much.
All for him to turn out to be someone that you despised.
You had no idea what she had done to deserve this kind of karma. Maybe it was all the Uber Eats. All those takeaways had definitely been bad for the environment. And now you were paying the price.
“Wait,” Roy called after you as he followed you out onto the pavement.
“This is already embarrassing enough, okay?” You hiss as you whip around to face him. Your voice cracks on you ‘okay’ in a way that makes your face heat up.
Roy’s back straightened as he pulled his shoulders back.
“Can we just pretend this never happened?” You ask when Roy doesn’t reply.
You’re desperate for this conversation to end so that this horrible night can end too. You can’t believe how stupid you’d been. An hour ago you’d been giddy. You’d been imagining an amazing date with a great guy that would lead to equally amazing sex. And maybe even a good, happy, healthy relationship.
And now those hopes had been painfully dashed. You’d been rejected the moment Roy had walked in and realized you were his date.
He’d hated you since he’d met you. That had been painfully obvious in every interaction you’d had since. And how he’d seen you in a vulnerable position. This was awful.
“Yeah,” He replied gruffly. “Whatever.”
“Great,” You replied before you pursed your lips and nodded at him. “Goodnight.”
“Erh,” Roy grunted before you turned on your heels and walked down the street as quickly as you could without it looking like you were training to flee.
Roy sighed and rubbed a hand down his face before shoving his hands into his pockets and heading down the pavement in the opposite direction. Even though he was parked in the same direction as you.
But he’d rather take the scenic route back to his car than have to interact with you again.
And he needed to take a walk to clear his head.
Tumblr media
Roy Kent hadn’t wanted to get on a dating app.
He hadn’t wanted to date. Period.
But when he’d made the mistake of complaining to his niece Phoebe about the insane dating app that Keeley was pushing on all the players she’d turned to him with that perceptive look that Roy found so disconcerting on his nine-year-old niece.
“Don’t you want to find someone who makes you happy?”
“No photos and no names means you get to know people for their personalities, doesn’t it?” “You could find someone who you get along with.”
Roy had grunted in annoyance at Phoebe.
But he hadn’t been able to brush what she said aside.
So the next time he had to pick her up from school for his sister he’d hesitantly asked her what he should put on his profile.
And the way her face had lit up with delight was more than enough to convince Roy to give it a try.
He honestly hadn’t expected to meet anyone.
But you’d messaged him. And then he’d replied and you’d never stopped.
You were easy to talk to and with the anonymity, Roy didn’t need to worry about you just laughing at his jokes because he had a nice house, or because you could sell pictures of him to the tabloids.
You actually found him funny.
Roy had opened up to you.
He’d told you things he hadn’t told anyone else.
He’d thought he was ready to meet you when you asked.
He’d wanted to meet you.
And then he’d locked eyes with you when you walked through the door. Your thinly-veiled distaste wasn’t even hidden when you saw him.
And when you realized he was your date and you were his.
You’d looked so disappointed.
It had cut at a part of Roy that he didn’t even like to admit existed.
You’d said it was embarrassing. The idea of going on a date with him was so embarrassing to you that you’d almost cried.
What was Roy supposed to do with that?
And how was he supposed to pretend that tonight had never happened?
Tumblr media
“Hiya babes, what were you up to this weekend? I didn’t hear from you at all,” Keeley greets you as you walk into the AFC Richmond building on Monday morning.
She has too much energy for this early. And you’re not even hungover, but you’re suddenly wishing you’d worn your sunglasses this morning.
“Oh, I just needed a quiet weekend in, getting stuff done and all that,” You tell her.
It’s not a lie. You did spend the weekend in your flat pretending you were dead to the world so that you could watch Love is Blind and cry about the relationships on the show (and definitely not anything to do with the state of your personal life).
“Yeah?” You knew that Keeley knew something was up. But she was also a good enough friend that she didn’t push you any further.
You would break down and admit everything to Keeley sooner or later. You both knew it. It was just a matter of if it would be tonight or eighteen months from now. And Keeley didn’t mind. She’d be there to listen whenever you decided you were ready.
Keeley chattered along beside you as you moved to grab your equipment out of the storage closet that Keeley let you use to store it in.
You’re lugging it all out into the hallway, Keeley still talking away, your camera bag in her arms, when you make solid contact with someone as you run into them.
“Shit, sorry,” You murmur as you try to maintain your grasp on the bags you’re holding onto and have tucked under your arms.
You look up to apologize further when you realize who you’ve run into.
“Roy!” You exclaim as your tripod drops from your grasp to the floor.
Roy mutters your name as he stoops down to pick it up and wordlessly hands it to you before pushing past you and continuing down the hallway.
You and Keeley turn to watch him walk away.
“That was…” Keeley mutters.
“What?” You ask as your head whips around to look at her, sounding way more defensive than you meant to.
“Even more awkward than last week,” Keeley replies. “I don’t understand why the two of you are so tense around each other.”
“Hmm,” You hummed in a non-committed reply.
Tumblr media
Today’s shoot was for action shots of the team so you were out on the field for Richmond’s practice. Granted, you were in the stadium and not on the practice field, but everyone was looking around nervously like they’d never been on the field before.
“Where do you want ‘em?” Ted asked as you made your way onto the field.
“I want these to be as natural as possible, just run them through your normal drills, and I’ll move to get the shots. You won’t even notice I’m here.”
Roy muttered something unintelligible under his breath and you managed to hold your tongue as moved past him to find the best light.
Tumblr media
“I met someone,” You blurted out a few days later at one of your and Keeley’s coffee dates.
So it would be sooner rather than later.
Keeley shrieked as she nearly spilled her latte.
“Oh my god! Holy shit!” She hissed as she stared at you with wide eyes.
“On Bantr-” You start to explain when she nods for you to continue.
“I knew it! I knew you would! God, I knew it would be perfect for you.”
“I asked him out-” You continue.
“Yeah? How was it? It must have been amazing if you ignored me all weekend,” Keeley replied as she continued to pepper you with her questions in her excitement. “Holy shit, were you having wild sex all weekend? I knew you were too tired on Monday for it to have just been a chill weekend in!”
“No,” You reply with a sharp shake of your head. “It was Roy,” You tell her in a stage whisper.
“You had sex with Roy?!” She full-on screams, causing the entire cafe to turn and look at you.
“No! I didn’t! That’s what I’m trying to tell you,” You hiss at her through the mortification of all of these strangers now knowing your business. “The guy on Bantr turned out to be Roy,” You repeat.
Keeley paused.
“And you didn’t have sex?” She asks as her forehead pinches in confusion. “No! We obviously didn’t go on the date!” You reply in exasperation. Confused by why Keeley is being so intentionally dense. You know she loves to see the best in people. Just look at her dating history, but she’s got to understand why the two of you together was a no-go.
“Why?” She asks.
“Because he hates me!” You explain. “We both agreed to pretend it didn’t happen.”
“Did he?” Keeley asks, her forehead still pinched together. You’re tempted to reach out your hand and smooth out the wrinkles. Knowing Keeley she’ll complain about you causing them once she catches a glimpse in the mirror of them.
“Yes, he was clearly disappointed when we both realized what had happened.”
You could still see the permanent scowl on his face.
“He walked out on you?” Keeley asked as her eyes widened.
“Well, no, technically I walked out first,” You reply, causing Keeley to open her mouth. “But he followed me!” You add before she can interject again.
“And is that when he told you he hated you and never wanted to see you again?”
“Um...” You stall.
“Did you call it off or did he?” Keeley repeats.
“I did!” You admit. “But he never talks. If I hadn’t said it we would have just stared at each other in silence until one of us walked away.”
“What if he was just nervous?”
“That’s definitely not what was happening,” You scoff. “Have you seen that man?”
“Yes, but you’re one of the sexiest, smartest, coolest girls I know,” Keeley replied. “Anyone would be a little intimidated by you, even Roy.”
“Yeah,” You reply. You know Keeley’s hyping you up the same way she hypes everyone up, and you appreciate the compliment, you always do, but even Keeley has to know that Roy Kent is out of your league. Along with being a complete and total ass.
“You don’t have to believe it, but you also have no reason to believe that he didn’t want to go on that date with you,” Keeley tells you.
“You have to talk to him,” She adds.
You groan loudly as you slump back in your chair.
“I can’t do that.”
Keeley shrugs.
“You have to.”

like real people do (pt 4)
Pairing: Eddie Munson x pianist!reader
Summary: You and Eddie interact at school.
A/N: I’m obsessed with these two absolute nerds.
part 1 part 2 part 3
Tumblr media
Eddie didn’t mean to lurk.
Truly.
But you’d asked him to meet you in the music room during his free period and who was he to deny you?
Eddie had honestly expected you to ignore him at school. He wasn't entirely sure why he was expecting it, but you have your friend group. And there was no reason for you to start spending time with him when he knew that even though you found his… quirks… appealing, your friends most certainly did not.
But you’d walked right up to him as he’d been chatting with Mike and Dustin between first and second period and asked him to come to the music room during his free period when you had your independent study.
Maybe it was his slacker tendencies, but he hadn’t expected you to actually be working during what was essentially your free period too.
But you were in the middle of playing one of the most beautiful pieces of music he’s ever heard.
He would never publicize this fact, and would vehemently deny it to anyone but you, but Eddie loved classical music. The sound of a full orchestra? It vibrated through your bones the same way a good heavy metal concert did.
The piano concerto you were playing filled him with that same feeling. And there was something about the way you seemed almost lost in the music.
It was like a trance. The way your head leaned over the keys, claiming the instrument as your own in a way that looked possessive. Your fingers flew at a speed that seemed almost impossible before slowing down, and tenderly plucking at the keys as gently as a church mouse.
You were ethereal.
“Eddie!” You exclaimed when you had finished and looked up. Realizing there was someone else in the room. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Not long,” Eddie lied. “Just didn’t want to interrupt.”
“I wouldn’t have minded,” You reply with a wide smile as you beckon him closer, to come join you on the piano bench.
“What are you practicing?” Eddie asks as he slides onto the bench to sit beside you. Appreciative of the small bench, that demands that his leg press against yours as you sit side by side.
“I should be practicing the Mendelssohn piece,” You admit as you glance down at the music currently sitting on the music stand. “I’m performing it at the orchestra hall next month.”
“But that was a piece I’ve been writing,” You tell Eddie with a shy shrug.
“You wrote that?” Eddie asks as he feels a broad smile pulling at his lips.
“Yeah, it’s not- I’m not done with it, obviously, but I just have all this music in my head that I need to get out,” You try to explain, rambling with nervousness.
“You are… incredible,” Eddie murmurs as he presses a reassuring hand to the side of your face, gently stroking your cheekbone as he lifts your head slightly as your eyes flicker up to meet his own.
You feel a smile growing on your own face to match Eddie’s before you lean forward the last few inches and close the space between you and press your lips to his.
Eddie eagerly returns your kiss, bringing his other hand up to cradle the back of your neck as his tongue slips between your lips.
“Is this what you do? Seduce your men with your music and then make out with them?” Eddie asks when the two of you finally break apart, smirking at you.
“Um-” You murmur as your cheeks warm and your eyes flicker back down.
“Don’t get shy on me now sweetheart,” Eddie replies. “I love your rebellious side.”
“I’m supposed to be practicing,” You reply.
“Nice try,” Eddie says. “But you’re the one that asked me to meet you here. And the one who kissed me.”
“You might have everyone else fooled,” Eddie continues. “But I know just how much a bad girl you are.”
“Go somewhere else now, and let me practice,” You reply as you turn away from Eddie and bring your hands back up to the piano keys.
“I think I’ll stay and enjoy the show,” Eddie replies.
He doesn’t even mean it in the flirty way that you hear it. But something about the way Eddie speaks to you always makes you blush. Especially now that the two of you are… well, doing whatever you’re doing.
Hanging out. Making out. Seeing each other. Romantically.
You try to push all of the non-musical thoughts currently clouding your head from your mind as you turn the Mendelssohn piece to it’s beginning and begin.
Tumblr media
“Your music,” You announce as you come up behind Jeff. Your arm outstretched to hold a pile of piano music out in front of his face.
He grabs onto the pile of sheet music with both hands before twisting around in his chair to beam up at you.
“Thank you!” He tells you as he begins to flip through to see what songs you’ve given him.
He oohs and ahhs appreciatively while you stand beside him.
“Do you want to sit with us?” Jeff asks when he realizes you’re still standing there.
“Sure,” You tell him with a smile as you move to take the open seat between him and one of the freshman boys in their Dungeons and Dragons club.
“Hey hey hey!” Eddie suddenly shouts from a few chairs over. “She can sit over here,” He announces
You smirk at Eddie as he shuffles Gareth down a seat, pushing everyone into the open chair you were about to take so you can sit next to him. You like that he doesn’t have a subtle bone in his body.  It reassures you that he likes you as much as you like him.
“Hi,” You greet him as you sit down beside him. Placing your lunch box on the table in front of you.
“Hey,” Eddie replies. “Are you sure your friends aren’t going to report you missing?”
“They know where I am, they’re all working on the newspaper today anyway,” You tell him with a shrug. “So it was eating with you guys or staying in the music room.”
“Glad to know I’m a second choice,” Eddie replies with a faux hurt as he places a hand to his chest.
“I’m sure you’ll get over it,” You reply with a shrug as you laugh.
“Eddie! When are we going to the forests of Makbar?” One of the guys shouts down the table at Eddie.
Your brows furrow as you turn to look at him in confusion.
“Wednesday after school, same as every week,” Eddie replies with a labored sigh.
You silently raise an eyebrow at him when Eddie glances over at you next.
“DnD,” Eddie explains. “The party is currently traveling through the Valley of the Five Kings heading for the Forests of Makbar to hunt down a religious cult.”
“Ahh,” You reply with a nod even though none of those words make a lick of sense to you.
“You should play with us some time,” Eddie replies.
“Oh… um,” You stutter.
“Only if you’re interested,” Eddie adds quickly when he sees your hesitation, not wanting to make you feel like you have to do anything. He knows it’s probably not your thing.
“I’ve just never played,” You explain. “I would have no idea what I was doing.”
“I’ll teach you,” Eddie replies with a shrug as if it’s no trouble at all.
