Health update for those who care:
Had a hypomanic episode because I forgot to pick up my antispsychotics
Which led to me overdoing physical activity and therefore a BAD pain flare up that I’m still going through
I have received confirmation via MRI and ultrasound that my ankle has in fact been sprained for six years. My other ankle has considerable damage as well.
Several doctors have mentioned EDS (hypermobile and Classical) to me based on the type of ligament and tendon damage I have
I need to get injections in my ankles and then surgery on the bad one. At least there’s a solution!
Anyways hi I’m back!

Explaining further: custom EQ, mono-audio, and lyrics are behind a paywall, all of which are accessibility features!
Actually, accessibility features shouldn’t be behind a paywall (I’m looking at you Spotify)

I hate when you see a specialist and then you do everything they suggested and yet it didn’t improve anything!!! Blegh.

this is APPARENTLY a HOT FUCKING TAKE but
i would rather someone live out the rest of their life dependent on or addicted to a pain medication that helps with their pain, than suffer in pain that could be helped for the rest of their life just so self-righteous dicks can say "thank god they're not an addict"

Crip Tip: “Rate your pain on a scale from 1-10”
Give your doctor a frame of reference!!!
For example: I say, “when I broke my elbow, that was about a 5. Right now my foot pain is at an 8”.
I’d suggest choosing a common experience as your reference, like a broken bone or first degree burn. Or, if you have an experience known for high levels of pain (for example, spinal fusion or kidney stone), you can say “that is my level [x] pain, I am at a level [y]”.

After years of “toxic positivity” and carceral mental “healthcare”, it’s strange to have a fat postive and disability-affirming therapist.
Like she literally encouraged me to use my mobility aids and talked about how weight gain isn’t a moral issue!!!
I know these things should be present in any therapist but damn it’s nice.

I love young cripples with stereotypically “old people” disorders! (Personally I have severe plantar fasciitis at 20)
You’re not “too young” to have this pain.
You don’t need to “wait until you’re older and then you’ll see”.
Your disability is a disability regardless of your age!!!!

I feel like nobody talks about the generational trauma of having a disabled parent who projects their internalized ableism onto their similarly disabled child.
Like just because you’re “worse off” than me doesn’t mean I don’t deserve accomodations!!!

Yes! Chronic illnesses like gastritis are disabilities! (By definition chronic illnesses are disabilities)
Disability includes
People with:
Erectile dysfunction
Vaginismus
PCOS
Endometriosis
Any other reproductive, uterine, or related disorder
Substance abuse disorders/addiction
Facial deformities/differences
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Any other disorder/disease of the digestive system
By the definition of disabilities these are DISABILITIES. Start treating as such or get fucked.
Disclaimer: any BS in the replies or RBs will get you blocked or mocked.

Most, if not all of these, are used as jokes or comedic relief when all of them cause significant distress to those with them.
I think that any mind-body condition that severely impacts your ability to perform one or more major life activities is a disability. The first two meet the definition of disability and I think that viewing them from that perspective can offer those with and without them a frame of compassion and understanding, instead of mockery.
Including endo and PCOS is important because many people don’t view them as legitimate disabilities even though they 100% are, and again, disability liberation movements provide useful frameworks for understanding the struggles that people with these conditions go through.
I made this post mainly about my own personal experiences with what people around me (IRL) do and don’t consider to be disabilities.

"What about high support needs autistic people who use wheelchairs/have severe motor skill issues!"
What about them? Last I checked, you all treat them like shit and talk over them. Last I checked, half of you saying that kind of thing are still on your "autism actually makes me smarter and better than everyone else :)" schtick. In fact, are you normal about any and all stigmatized psychiatric conditions?
"Eyeglasses are mobility aids too, being mildly nearsighted makes you disabled"
Okay, and have you spoken At All about how people using white canes are treated or about genuinely any accessibility issue the blind/VI community faces? Have you talked about Any mobility aids, really?
"Psychiatric conditions are physical disabilities because it affects the brain"
Okay, and do you identify as physically disabled broadly or only when you're trying to be in cripplepunk? Have you aligned yourself with Any of Us beyond semantics arguing on the internet? Have you talked about any disability issues at all that aren't about your specific mental health diagnosis? How have you approached and reconciled the social, political, and legislative differences in how physically disabled people are treated versus mentally ill people?
Otherwise what it sounds like is you using other disabled people as tools and tokens in your arguments and that you don't actually give a shit about any of them.
