She doesn’t hit him. But she does seriously consider it. They’re not supposed to be those people anymore--the ones that lashed out at their siblings. Violently. Taking their own pain out on each other until those bonds broke.
The anger still flares up for a moment. The instinctual reaction. “Stop pretending I’m as dumb as Diego,” she says with gritted teeth. “When we go back in time to fix the timeline, which of my moronic, short-sighted brothers do I have to rumor into oblivion to stop them from breaking everything? The one who started a cult? The one who joined the mob? The one who got himself locked in a nuthouse because he never learned how to shut up? Or the self-righteous asshole who pretends he’s better than the rest of us but wasted all our fucking time running off to get Daddy to fix this mess?”
Maybe that was a low blow. And maybe she would be better off just hitting him. But she can’t let go of anger and hurt that’s cracking her chest in half. She might never see her daughter again and it felt safest to place that blame in one of her brothers being dumb instead of looking inward.
