Kirito and the 'mc seat'

(Short drabble, might polish if I ever make a full Kirito analysis)

Kirito deconstructs the main character trope of sitting by the window in the last opening ANIMA. However, there's more to this.

Thing is, Kirito WAS sitting in the 'mc seat', in the same dream/headspace in which he ends up self-harming and trying to kill himself. The 'sitting by the window trope' comes from mcs being lone wolfs. In the headspace, Kirito convinces himself that he has to be alone— he pushes himself into the 'lone wolf' trope he has tried to be in the past (during Aincrad where he set a distance with others to avoid getting hurt). But that's just not Kirito's nature, he is NOT the 'lone wolf mc' type, he loves his friends and loves fighting for them, and the opening shows (in my opinion) his true nature in opposition of the headspace showing Kirito's notion of himself, or what he thinks defines him in that moment. He's actually the center of things, and can't remove himself from it. He can never be a lone wolf.

What i meant to say is, why does the headspace happen during Kirito's highschool time? When this phase of his life has not been shown in the anime and only mentioned? It's because it was the time when he was completely alone and secluded and he believes that's what he deserves now.

He believes that he has to live the continuation of that and end his life at that moment because he doesn't think he deserves to move on. And a part of him also tries to reject his meeting with Eugeo and everybody else.

remember that writing dark fiction and stuff is a GOOD and HEALTHY coping mechanism that's backed by therapists and smart folks, because it allows you to take control of the trauma you have been through, it can give you a happy ending, and it doesn't hurt anyone. if there are elements and things that can trigger you, you blacklist and avoid them.

also, you do not need trauma to indulge in dark fiction. you can indulge just because you like it. it does not mean you endorse it IRL or whatever.

don't let people tell you what you "should" and "should not" ship or write or whatever.
