So Babybird, aka Birdy, is a half-aasimar half-tiefling (tiefling variant statswise) shepherd druid who has his reincarnated dad and mum as his should angel and demon. He is basically on an adventure to grow a spine and make his own life decisions since his parents and the fey have just controlled his life up till now.

The party is investigating some mysterious thefts of gold, which became personal when the thief stole the rock candy fake gems we were hauling to blend in with merchants.

Well while investigating Birdy stops to make lunch. He fails miserably. He tries to collect planta and they literally slither away from him. The most he can collect is a single mouse and some bark.

Now this was clearly not normal, but this is Birdy and Birdy is a druid. Birdy drops the mouse in an unheated pot, sit down, covers his face and starts crying, thinking nature hates him for reason. The other two party members, Tizzit the pixie and his adoptive child Onyx, basically make fun of him and to rub it in worse Onyx manages to collect some plants no problem.

A few hours later back in town Birdy just begs fey gods for forgiveness for whatever it is he’s done, which he mistakes his mum and dad patting him on the back as their forgiveness. He proceeds to make the best buckwheat soup the town has had because “buckwheat can’t run away from him.”

The orc chef who is terrible at his job congratz him and says one day Birdy might even be as good as him. Birdy starts crying about how “everything he tries to cook runs away.”

The orc thinks he has mixed up plants and animals. Birdy explains how he tried to collect mint and it literally up and walked away from him. Not exactly knowing what to say to that Birdy is left to cry over how nature hates him.

it's definitely my predisposition to extreme frugality+redneck engineering, but i'm now obsessed with creating things literally without buying Anything. no supplies no tools no nothing, only the stuff you can just find outside, like Plants, Sticks, and Rocks.

I'm making textiles with nothing but foraged plant materials using no tools except sticks. Nature allows you to do this! There's no rules! I mean okay well maybe there might be some rules sometimes but they're just weak human rules! The plants themselves? They're like "Why sure! You can make yarn with nothing but fibers from the dead stem I don't need anymore, a couple sticks from that tree over there, and your own body and mind! Why not?"

Plants like to give us gifts! And nobody has the power to stop them!
