“Because this job isn’t MEANT to be cool. I don’t think there’s any job in the world that’s fun. I used to think that after I got out of my miserable job as a cashier, maybe assassination would be fun.”
There’s files all over her desk. Pictures, detailed documents about targets, some CD’s and thumb drives even. All kinds of stuff that she’ll have to comb through if she wanted to get payed. After she skipped out from the UAA, she’s been in the underground business… solo.
And being a self-employed assassin was hard work. The easy bit of having an agent or secretary fell onto the worker. Thankfully, Shinobu was pretty sharp. If it were anybody else in the UAA having to do this shit, they would crack. Sadly, her position as Rank 8 in the UAA didn’t net her any neat deals yet.
She mostly blames how both her and Travis handled the situation. Her childish yelling after he cut her arm off and his complete babying of her. Of course, she was literally on her last year of high school. But that made things even rough. People don’t want to hire a kid to kill people. She thanked whoever the fuck it was in charge that she didn’t have this kid’s babyface.
“But it was just as awful… And I got my arm cutoff. Maybe you should be thankful that you find my job to be boring, because I could think of a bunch of people who’d cut your arm off to pawn off that dumb watch you wear.”
---- “ Speak for yourself, my job is a blast. ” Confident, smug as ever, he kicks one leg up over the other as he takes a seat. Ben was the type who could kick butt, take names, have fun doing it, and be back before sundown with no sweat broken. Sure, he struggled, but considering the circumstances of his position, he’s a remarkably lucky person. Pretty much had the universe handed to him on a silver platter... not to say he didn’t deserve it after his valiant efforts.
Being not one for melodrama, the boy idly scratches at his chin while this random girl speaks. He doesn’t lack sympathy -- far from it, but he can’t help but find it a bit odd that someone would just go from 0 to 100 and start talking about bad past experiences like this. Thankfully, he had something a bit more his style to latch onto in that sentence. Sitting up a bit, a classic Ben smirk takes over his face, and a half-hearted shrug is given before he speaks.
“ You act like no one’s ever tried to cut it off before. I probably couldn’t count all the times on one hand. Aaaaand, hold on, lemme check-- ”
Sarcastically, he checks his wrist, wiggling his fingers around, and then tapping the Omnitrix playfully.
“ Yep! Still there! Would you look at that? Guess I’m just too good for people like that! ”
