White House considers anti-slavery provision in the TPP to be a “deal-breaker”
May 24 2015
Hidden in this Huffington Post article about the TPP fast track authority passing in the Senate, is a couple paragraphs about President Obama supporting slavery in Malaysia:
But a key crackdown on human trafficking survived the legislative jujitsu. The White House considers the provision a deal-breaker, as it would force one of the nations involved in the TPP talks – Malaysia – out of the agreement. An immigration-related amendment authored by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) never got a vote, making it far more difficult for Obama to win over skeptical tea party Republicans in the House.
The slavery provision’s survival means that the House will either need to amend the bill and send it back to the Senate, which would cause a delay and complicate the House debate, or pass a bill and go to conference with the Senate, also causing a delay. It also potentially could be fixed in separate legislation otherwise moving through Congress.

Planetary level climate shift, effects on regional climates and landscapes, ecosystem damage and food growing capacity reductions, negative human health consequences from reduced air quality.
The impacts of GHG emissions are dispersed over spatial and temporal scales- and, furthermore/consequently, lack integration at a policy/decision making level.
However, the source is, in many ways, the same.
Reducing/eliminating emissions will have positive effects and co-benefits from a local to global scale, immediately and in the future.

The Republicans in a Congress are fighting tooth and nail to get the TPP passed. The are praising President Obama. Are you one of those voters who followed their lead and hated everything Obama did? The left, Democrats and Independents, recognize this as nothing but a transfer of power from a democratically elected government to multinational corporations!
The TPP is one giant leap over the edge into ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, and it is not a democracy!
Any law or regulation passed by our elected representatives can be overruled by unelected corporate courts, answerable only to their CEO's.

If the “free trade” agreements TPP and TTIP pass, these deals will allow corporations to grab enough power to be on the level of sovereign, democratic nation states, able to force them to abide by their will
Corporations aren’t people? Corporations aren’t countries!
In many cases, there won’t even be a need for lobbying anymore, as those corporations will just be able to sue countries over laws they don’t like, in international courts that lack any legitimacy.
Let that sink in for a moment.
And then, learn what you can do[x] to prevent these deals [x].
