With this look my makeup is definitely gyaru inspired. 80s music/fashion icons like Strawberry Switchblade, Lene Lovich, or Nina Hagen inspire me to play more with accessorizing and hair. What inspires my overall style the most, though is probably my best friend: my sewing machine! My favorite pieces are things I accidentally piece together after playing around with cute funky fabrics I find while thrifting.”

“I am wearing a thrifted women’s blazer from Collections for Le Suit, a hand-me-down Champion crewneck that I bleached, an arrow button up with a collar I also bleached, thrifted buckle dress pants with no tags, and gifted New Balances. A big inspiration of mine is academia as someone who was introduced to the world of academia very young, I found myself being engulfed in the world of elite colleges and angel statues in post-rain fog whether that be in books video essays online blogs news or forums. Now that I’ve grown older I find myself taking the good quality pieces and business casual foundations of light and dark academia and using them as a foundation for me to place my own takes and spins on the genre usually with a more ethereal or in this case a more edgy approach.”

“For headgear, I’m wearing a stetson I purchased at Alfargo’s Marketplace last summer. The top is a remade button down by Sloppy Seconds. Overalls are an old pair of Dickies I bought from It’s A Wrap in Burbank, CA. Shoes were bought vintage, pair of coffin toe cowboy boots. I’m also wearing an old RL silk scarf as a neckerchief. Picked up the western belt at Rose Bowl in Pasadena a couple years back. I’d say my style is driven by the type of person I’d like to be on any given day, clothes are such a great way to express yourself non-verbally. I have adult money to play adult dress up with and whether or not people enjoy it isn’t my problem. I love the freedom of getting to wake up and express to strangers through my outfit just what kind of silly mood I’m in that day.“
