BEST DRUGSTORE HIGHLIGHTERS
Whether you're new to makeup, or consider yourself a true makeup junkie, we have all heard of a highlighter. No, not the ones you use for school to highlight your notes, I’m talking about the blinding makeup product that completes every face, and leaves you both looking and feeling like a goddess. With this being said, looking like a goddess does not have to come at a high cost! Within the past two years alone, I have seen virtually every single makeup brand come out with a highlighter. We get it, getting our glow on is what’s in, but products are not all made the same. Especially with the cheap drugstore options – I’ve found myself left disappointed more often than not. Given I have tried and swatched nearly all drugstore (and high end) highlighters, I figured it would be both useful and convenient to compile my favorites into one single post. The highlighters mentioned below work as good, if not better, than high priced ones. I was seriously surprised with some of my outcomes! You’ll be as well when you see some of the products. So let’s get to it – hope your face is ready to glow! These are listed in no particular order.
Tumblr media
COLOURPOP
Super Shock Highlighter in ‘Wisp’ and ‘Flexitarian’
$8
This highlighter…*sigh* simply amazing. Has a slight putty-like consistency that makes it extremely pigmented and easily spreadable. I use Wisp, which is a champagne gold with pearlescent hints to it – absolutely perfect for my olive complexion! Flexitarian is a shade I recommend for lighter skin tones, its more pearl toned and absolutely stunning! For only $8, this long lasting highlighter is a must for your beauty collection. Highly recommend!
Tumblr media
WET N’ WILD
MegaGlo™ Highlighting Powder
$5
Lately, Wet N’ Wild has been really slaying the makeup game. When it comes to highlighters, it’s no different! The MegaGlo line just recently came out with four more shades, increasing the total number of products to six. A color for everyone, these $5 powder highlighters are sure to pack a big punch for its little price. Can be found at any local drugstore that sells this brand!
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter
$10
Maybelline always kills the drugstore makeup game. This recent addition to the line has taken many beauty bloggers’ attention because of how pigmented and high quality it is. So far, there is only one color, ‘Molten Gold’, hopefully there will be more additions soon given the intense amount of love this product has received. I would compare this as a dupe for the Becca powder highlighters. And for $10?? Umm.. yes please!
Tumblr media
E.L.F. COSMETICS
Baked Highlighter
$4
ELF has been known for years as being the bargain makeup brand that no one really pays attention to – I’m guilty of it as well. Lately, however, this $4 highlighter is a complete steal for someone who is on a tight budget. A great tip if you use this product is to scrape off the top layer when you first purchase it. For some reason, there is a coating on top that is a bit sub-par. Despite this, underneath is a true treasure! A great color for nearly all skin-tones and for that price you really can’t beat it! Can be found mainly in Walmart stores or online.
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
FaceStudio Master Strobing Liquid Illuminating Highlighter
$10
Probably the most intense drugstore highlighter I have ever swatched! One swipe of this product heavily competes with the Cover FX Liquid Concentrated Drops (which are around $42 each…). This product line comes in three shades, perfect for light, medium, and dark skin tones. As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, you don't have to be broke to glow – I think this product is the very epitome of that. This product can be found at nearly all drugstores and wherever Maybelline is sold!
You can now slay all day without taking a major hit to your bank account - glow on gorgeous!
With Love,

I WENT VEGAN FOR A WEEK: WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE
Yes, you read that title correctly. The meat and ice cream loving Noor Jawda decided to go vegan for a week. It’s a bit wild to say something like a change in diet shifted my views on many things; but it did. In this post, I will be talking to you very candidly about how it’s really like going vegan; and how it impacted my life in many more ways than one.
To begin, veganism is cutting out any and all products that come from animals. Not only meats, but milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt, and even honey. Sounds extremely daunting and difficult at first; and it is! However, like everything that takes time, it gets easier.
I have been thinking about changing my diet for a while. I have always been somewhat content with my body, but I realized that lately I was gaining more weight than before. I have always been a “thick” person with a large rear end and slim waist. Despite that, my body wasn’t the way I liked it anymore, and I’ve been thinking about a change in lifestyle for a bit of time. I wasn't just unhappy about my body; but about my eating habits, laziness, and all around loss of interest. I was always tired. One night, a friend of mine told me about a documentary on Netflix called “What The Health?”. Bored one night, I decided to cuddle up in bed and watch it. What I saw and learned in this documentary really did change me in ways I did not expect. First of all, I love documentaries; but they often lose my interest very rapidly. This documentary did not. The seemingly short 90-minute documentary captured my attention for the entire time. We have all heard about documentaries where they try and change your mentality by brainwashing you to think certain foods and ways of life are unhealthy. However, this documentary focuses solely on certain foods and what they actually do to your body. For example: a fish fillet has as enough fattening agents as a pork chop. What?! I had no idea that foods we have been told are “healthy” are killing us slowly just the same. I was baffled and confused on how women who consume just one serving of dairy per day have a 49% higher chance of getting cancer…WHAT?! I was perplexed and downright speechless at all the facts I was learning. It was at the conclusion of this life-changing documentary, I decided I was going to try veganism for a week.
The very next day, I told my parents about my plan. My mom found it very funny, while my dad just nodded and bit back a smile. Being middle eastern, our diets are based heavily on meats and natural cheeses. I knew this was not going to be easy. Instead of slowly easing into being vegan, I quit everything cold turkey. My dad gave me a $30 budget, which I didn't realize until I got to the cashier that I actually spent $100 (sorry baba!!). With this money, though, I purchased enough food to last me the entire week, and then some!
On my first day, I made sure I wasn't going to be hungry, eating a good amount of nuts, almond butter, and grains. I made bought some whole grain bagels, and spread vanilla almond butter and an array of nuts and seeds on it. After eating just half the bagel, I was already full! This kept me until dinner, where I made myself an amazing salad filled with greens, beans, and fruits. After just a day, I knew this diet was feasible if one put their mind to it. This week was predicted to be full of starvation, headaches, and me craving and whining about wanting to eat meat; but I was soooo wrong.
This is what I ate for the rest of the week:
 Day 2-
Breakfast: Coffee with soy milk
Lunch: Vegan Sushi (Rice, seaweed, cucumber, avocado, carrot, ginger, and mango)
Dinner: Vegan Taco Salad
 Day 3-
Breakfast: Coffee with soy milk
Lunch: Avocado Toast with crushed red pepper and olive oil
Dinner: Greek Salad (minus feta cheese)
 Day 4-
Breakfast: Coffee with soy milk
Lunch: Vegan Wrap (spinach flour wrap, grilled tofu, carrots, spinach, hummus, black beans)
Dinner: Kale Salad
 Day 5-
Breakfast: Coffee with soy milk
Lunch: Pita bread plate with hummus, carrots, and tabouli
Dinner: Roasted Chickpeas with cayenne, olive oil, sumac, and coriander
 Day 6-
Breakfast: Orange Juice and whole wheat bagel
Lunch: Greek Salad (minus feta cheese)
Dinner: Vegan Pizza
 Day 7-
Breakfast: Flax seed smoothie
Lunch: vegan taco bowl
Dinner: vegan grape leaves with a side of grilled Brussel sprouts
As shown above, this is what I ate for the entire first week. I drank water with each meal (excluding breakfast), and would snack in between my courses with pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. Once you get in the groove of being vegan, it really is not difficult! When I craved something sweet, I would munch on dates, figs, raisins, or some of my beloved vanilla almond butter!
Don't get the wrong impression, there is nothing I want more than to sink my teeth into a juicy burger; but I think with more time this urge will pass (at least I really freaking hope so). It’s weird to explain, but being vegan was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Every night, I cooked at home. Roasting chick peas, making awesome salads, drinking coffee and tea with soy milk, etc. The list goes on, and so does the number of options you can make. Like me, you may have the misconception that all vegans do is munch on spinach and meditate… so wrong! Just one week of this diet has made me so clear headed in a number of ways that I was not just a mere 7 days ago.
When day 4 of my diet hit, I already started to notice a healthy change in my body. My skin was clearer, my hair was glossier, my stomach a bit flatter, and my mood a lot better…could all of this really be happening just because I chose to cut out everything that came from animals? The answer is simply yes. I told myself I was not going to change anything about my workout routine, skin care usage, or anything else. The only thing I was going to change about myself was the food I was putting into my body. I was shocked. How could only 4 days of being like this already have such a visible appearance on my body? Excited about these results, I was eager to see what the rest of the week would have in store.
When day 7 came along, I couldn't already believe it had been a week. I felt so accomplished that I actually followed through with this challenging promise I had made to myself. Upon weighing myself, I lost 5lbs in 7 days! I stood there and looked at the numbers with shock. I did not expect that going on an all plant-based diet would change me so quickly. How could just 7 days of eating all plant-based foods make me feel like I was a completely new person? The answer, honestly, is really simple. I gave my body everything it was craving all along. Humans are not built to take in copious amounts of meats, cheese, grease, dairy, and many other toxins. Our diets have been compromised by cheap burgers and cheese-stuffed crust pizza. If you really take a step back, are you happy with the way you’re eating? The foods may taste good, but are they doing good? My eyes have opened to this revelation, and to be honest, I don't think I will be going back for a long time.
After a week of what seemed like the impossible, I actually came out a stronger person than I ever have been before. My mind feels clearer, my energy levels have risen, my sense of determination has spiked, and so much more.
I decided to speak on this today because yes, makeup can be fun and exciting, but none of it will look good if you don’t take care of your skin first. A body simply cannot be treated like hell and look fabulous on the outside – at least not for long. Your body is your temple, remember that!
All of this happened because I ate a plant-based diet for 7 days, what more could there be in store? I cannot wait to find out.

THE BEST DRUGSTORE CONCEALERS
If you’re a makeup lover like myself, you know a great concealer is key to creating a flawless look that lasts all day. There are some amazing high end concealers out there; but not all of us feel like spending $28 for one! I have compiled a list of my favorite drug store concealers, and what I like most about them! These are in no order.
Tumblr media
L.A. GIRL
HD Pro Concealer
$5
(From website): “L.A. Girl's HD Pro Concealer is crease-resistant with opaque coverage in a creamy, yet lightweight texture. The long-wearing formula camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness and skin imperfections. Provides complete, natural-looking coverage, evens skin tone, covers dark circles and minimizes fine lines around the eyes.”
How can a $5 concealer be so full coverage and flawless? I don't know. What I do know is that this concealer really works amazing for the surprisingly small price tag. Comes in 20 shades, and stays put all day with no creasing. I feel like people outside the beauty community seldom hear about this product and for that I had to add it to this post!
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer
$9
(From website): “Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer instantly creates a radiant, refreshed looking eye area. Super concentrated formula with goji berry and haloxyl helps to erase the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, while visibly diminishing the appearance of puffiness around the eyes.”
I mean… how can I NOT talk again about this concealer? Whenever I look at the ingredients, I just see the word “magic”. I don't even need to set this concealer with powder! It stays on all day long and stays creaseless all on it’s own. Beats even the most expensive concealers I have ever tried. If you’re even thinking about buying this, do it.
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
Fit Me Concealer
$7
(From website): “Maybelline Fit Me Concealer gives a flawless look that lets the real you come through. It's makeup that doesn't mess with you. No oils. No waxes. No nonsense.
 Benefits:
•    Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be: fresh, breathing, natural
•    Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
•    Non-comedogenic
•    Dermatologist tested
•    Ophthalmologist tested
•    Fragrance free”
This concealer is a near exact dupe for the NARS creamy concealers, only this one is just $7! Comes in only five or six colors; but still worth the investment in my opinion. These are also great to contour with! Blend out easily and last all day. Are lighter in consistency so they have a more natural look and feel. I would recommend setting this with powder.
Tumblr media
NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP
Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand
$5
(From website): “Little wonder the Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand is one of NYX Professional Makeup's best-sellers! The concentrated, emollient-rich concealer formula goes on like a dream, is non-comedogenic and creates medium to heavy coverage. Use the lavender shade for sallow skin, the green shade to neutralize redness and yellow for under-eye darkness.”
NYX products are always a hit or miss. In this case, a complete hit! These $5 concealers are not only amazing, they’re HD quality so they look great in photos! We’ve all had that gross super white cast under our eyes in photos that makes us look like ghosts. This concealer protects you from that, is full coverage, blends out nicely, and won’t hurt your wallet!
Tumblr media
RIMMEL LONDON
Match Perfection Skin Tone Adapting Concealer
$6
This concealer is no way near as talked about as it should be! This $6 concealer comes in your perfect match, and does a flawless job of covering any areas you need to. More of a natural and dewy concealer, this is perfect for those every day makeup looks; or for someone just wanting something light and very blendable.
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
FaceStudio Master Conceal
$9
(From website): “FaceStudio Master Conceal from Maybelline is a master concealer. Their formula camouflages imperfections and dark circles with ultra-resistant full coverage. Maximum conceal. No reveal.”
Maybelline just does it right when it comes to concealers, and it is no different with the Master Conceal line! I recently re-fell in love with this product. This concealer is super full coverage and will last you all day long when set with a loose powder. I wear this to work almost daily and I can trust it to last me all day long and not budge! Great for those who wear makeup daily and like a more full coverage look.
Tumblr media
COLOURPOP COSMETICS
No Filter Concealer
$6
(From website): “Our lightweight, creamy concealer was formulated with soft blurring pigments to give you a creaseproof, matte finish. No filter needed.”
This concealer just recently launched, and I was lucky enough to receive one on the day it was released. Colourpop is known for making great products at an affordable price; and this product is no different! This concealer is super pigmented and easy to blend. Only downside is this product does not look so good in photos L however, great for a daily look and the formula will not let you down! When this item comes back in stock, I highly recommend checking it out!

PRODUCT EMPLTIES: ITEMS I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT
As someone who uses a plethora of makeup and skincare products; actually emptying a product is rare in my world. Using up an entire product means I love it so much, and will very likely purchase it multiple times in the future. Some of the items below have been bought only once; others I have been buying and using for years. I will be sure to mention them in the description. So let’s get to it! These products are listed in random order, and are not ranked whatsoever.
Tumblr media
MAC
PREP + PRIME FIX+
$25
A lightweight water mist that gently soothes and refreshes skin and finishes makeup. I love this product because it gives your face just the right amount of hydration. Also, it has this magical ability to blend together all the products you have applied on your face. In addition, this product can amplify the appearance of eye shadows (metallics in specific), highlighters, and much more. A very versatile and essential product I think we all need! This is NOT a setting/finishing spray!!
Tumblr media
Clinique
Take The Day Off™ Cleansing Balm
$29.50
(From website): “Lightweight makeup remover quickly dissolves tenacious eye and face makeups, sunscreens. Transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Gently helps remove the stress of pollution so skin looks younger, longer. Non-greasy. Non-drying. Ophthalmologist tested. For all skin types”
This stuff is amazing! I was super hesitant to spend $30 on a makeup remover; but I soon realized it was much more than that! Looks and feels like a lip balm, you take a tiny amount and spread it all over your face (makeup still fully on) and you begin to see the makeup immediately start to melt off your face. Great stuff! After I cleansed my face, I noticed my skin looked and felt a lot cleaner than usual. After a few days, I would wake up to more radiant skin. I then realized it was this product. It not only removes makeup on the surface of your skin, but beneath the skin’s layers as well. I will be purchasing this for years to come! A true staple in my skincare routine. Do NOT use this alone to clean your face. Always cleanse after you use this for optimum cleaning!
Tumblr media
THE BODY SHOP
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Daily Solution
$22
(From website): “The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution is a lightweight, pre-serum concentrate that combats blemishes and improves the overall condition of skin. After 4 weeks, skin looks and feels purified, clearer, smoother, healthier, clarified, mattified and soothed with reduced redness and imperfections. This daily skin avenger battles blemishes with its easily absorbing key ingredient, pure tea tree oil. Formulated with tea tree oil to purify the skin.”
This product is simply amazing. I initially bought this at Ulta after the holiday season, it was on sale so I figured why not? This quickly became one of my favorite skin care items. Twice a day, after cleansing, I apply this to my face before moisturizer. Mind you, this took a solid month or so before it really started to work its magic. My breakouts became almost non-existent, my skin was much smoother and more radiant. An all around great product for those of us who suffer from bumpy and blemish prone skin. The entire Tea Tree line from The Body Shop is phenomenal; but this product takes the cake!
Tumblr media
COVERGIRL
Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation
$12
(From website): “CoverGirl's Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation has a vitamin-infused formula with a special antioxidant and vitamin complex. Finally, a hydrating formula for beautiful, buildable coverage that glides on smoothly for a flawless look! This special antioxidant and vitamin complex plus SPF 20 work together to make your skin look healthy all day.”
I’ve mentioned this product in my “favorite foundation under $15” (which you can find here). This is one of my all time favorite foundations! Full-ish coverage, yet still makes you look completely natural with a healthy glow. A recent product to be added to my list; however, I have used up an an entire bottle already! Great foundation for any skin type (which is rare to find). My friends all know how much I rave about this foundation. You should give it a shot too!
Tumblr media
URBAN DECAY COSMETICS
All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
$32
(From Website): “Developed in an exclusive partnership with Skindinavia, UD's groundbreaking, tested formula is suitable for all skin types, free of oil and parabens, and features patented Temperature Control Technology. Yep, this baby actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eye shadow, blush and concealer in place - even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or all night).”
Look, I really don’t know what is in this bottle – all I know is that it’s some sort of magic! As you’ve probably read before, I have a combination skin type, where my nose, forehead, and shin get extremely oily throughout the day. This spray somehow controls that oil, and my makeup looks as good 12 hours later than when I first applied it. Amazing. I go through this spray like candy, and will continue to purchase it for years and years to come. All the drugstore finishing sprays I have used do not even come close to the greatness of this bottle. Definitely one of those products I would recommend splurging on!
Tumblr media
SMASHBOX
Photo Finish Primer Water
$32
(From website):
“Benefits:
•   Immediately moisturizes, soothes and adds radiance
•   Preps skin for makeup application
•   Instantly absorbs into skin for lasting hydration
•   Leaves skin looking ultra soft without adding shine
•   Revitalizing electrolytes reawaken skin and restore moisture
•   Can be used as a setting spray
•   Use to refresh makeup throughout the day
•   Ideal for all skin types
•   Cruelty-free”
When I first purchased this product, I really did think that I literally just bought a super expensive bottle of water. That's honestly what it looks like at first glance. Despite that, I powered through and decided to give it a few tries. After just one use, I saw how hydrated my face looked throughout the day, and how smoother my makeup applied. While this does not actually fill in any pores or reduce the appearance of them, it does give the skin a natural and healthy glow all on it’s own. Since it is so light, you can absolutely use another primer along with it if you want something a little extra. I use this on days when I have on no makeup, and am just running out quickly so complete some errands. A perfect light spray that packs a huge punch! If you don't want to spend $32, there is a sample size for $16 that you can test out first to see if you like/dislike the product.
Tumblr media
NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP
HD Finishing Powder in “Translucent”
$10
(From website): “A lightweight, translucent finishing powder that helps soften the appearance of fine lines and pores. NYX Professional Makeup HD Finishing Powder is a silky pressed powder with a fresh, matte finish.”
I have used up two of these compacts! Great product to set your makeup. Completely translucent and does not make your makeup cake up. However, if you use a lot of this product it makes your face look dry, so use sparingly! I especially like to apply this on my eye crease before I apply eye shadow because it makes my eye makeup look flawless all day long! I also use this on my nose, forehead, and chin for extra oil control throughout the day. Makes your face matte and airbrushed.
Tumblr media
NEUTROGENA
Hydro Boost Water Gel
$20
(From website): “Introducing Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, a refreshing, lightweight water gel that instantly quenches and continuously hydrates skin. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, it boosts hydration and locks it in so skin stays hydrated, smooth and supple day after day. Applies effortlessly, absorbing quickly into skin without leaving behind an oily or greasy feel.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel helps:
•   Instantly Quench Skin
•   Contains Hyaluronic Acid, Naturally Found in Skin
•   Clinically Proven to Keep Skin Hydrated for 48 Hours
•   Oil-Free
•   Dye-Free
•   Fast-Absorbing
•   Non-Comedogenic
•   Ideal for All Skin Types
Hydro Boost hydrates skin through an approach of replenishing water and rebuilding skin's barrier, leveraging two key ingredients:
•   Purified Hyaluronic Acid- Naturally found in skin, it delivers pure boost of hydration. It acts like a sponge for dry skin cells, absorbing up to 1000 times its weight in water and progressively releases water back into skin, keeping skin hydrated and supple throughout the day.
Olive Extract- Known for its protective, moisturizing and anti-oxidant qualities, it is a complex combination for fatty acids, which is similar to skin's natural moisture shield. It integrates into skin barrier, forming a structure that protects skin from excessive moisture loss. It also helps leave skin feeling soft and smooth without tackiness.”
If you have ever wanted to give your skin an instant drink of water, this is exactly what that product feels like! Smells and feels amazing on your skin. I apply this after I cleanse and tone my face. This product makes my face feel so incredibly soft, I can’t stop feeling it! An amazing product for instant hydration that lasts all day long. Please note that even oily skin needs to be hydrated!!
Tumblr media
OLAY COMPLETE
ALL DAY MOISTURIZER WITH SPF 15 FOR COMBINATION/OILY SKIN
$10.49
(From website): “Protect against the #1 cause of aging skin—damage from the sun. Olay Complete All Day SPF 15 Facial Moisturizer with UVA/UVB protection for combination/oily skin provides 48 hours of hydration. This lightweight antioxidant-rich lotion conditions skin surface with vitamins E, B3 and C to help maintain healthy-looking skin. Unlike many facial moisturizers with sunscreen, Complete All Day facial moisturizer with SPF is non-greasy and lightweight. Its oil-free formula leaves skin with a healthy glow. With its with patented SolaSheer Technology, experience hydration with sun protection from America’s #1 UV moisturizer.”
The longest item I have been using in my skin care routine. My mom has been using this for more than a decade, so I naturally picked up on the habit as well. I have tried dozens of day creams; but this one just understands and works with my skin better than anything else. A light weight and simple moisturizer for my skin type (made for normal and dry skin types as well) that really works to both balance and protect my skin. An absolute staple that will be in my regimen for years and years!!
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer
$9
(From website): “Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer instantly creates a radiant, refreshed looking eye area. Super concentrated formula with goji berry and haloxyl helps to erase the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, while visibly diminishing the appearance of puffiness around the eyes.”
I have used soooo many concealers, this one just has that magic touch that others do not! this concealer does not crease, is opaque, and stays put all day long! Also does not oxidize, which is so great. I’ve purchased at least a dozen of these – and will no doubt be back for more soon. I just opened up a fresh one yesterday haha!
Those are ten products that I truly cannot live without! A have a few more; but these ten are true to my trust (and bank account!). These products have never ever failed me, which is why I recommend them all so strongly! Give them a shot if you’d like. If you do, please let me know how you liked them! I am always keen to hear feedback, negative or positive.
 Until next time!

NOOR’S TOP 5 FAVORITE NUDE LIPSTICKS
In today’s world, nearly every single makeup brand has come out with a trendy nude lip. Whether you’re going for a casual “no makeup” look, or are doing a daring smoky eye, a nude lip is an essential and ever so sexy way to complete a look. I’ll expose myself really quick and admit I am a nude lipstick hoarder…and proud of it! A girl can never have too many nude lips! However, some of us have trouble finding that perfect shade that suits us the best. Personally, from the plethora of lipsticks I have tried in my lifetime, I decided to share with you my top five. These lipsticks are my true loves – the lip colors I will have been using for years; and for years to come. I almost always have at least two of these colors in my bag. Trust me, if they’re in this list, I love them with an extreme passion. With an array of tones and finishes, I hope you find a favorite in here as well! These lipsticks are in no order, for I love them all so much and there is absolutely no way you could ever get me to rank them!
Tumblr media
 NYX
Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in “Cashmere Silk”
MATTE
$7
This lipstick is the one that never leaves my bag. If I finish a look and have trouble deciding which lipstick to apply, I always go to this one! A slightly cool toned nude, it makes your lips look a bit whiter than usual – especially in photographs. This lipstick applies very soft and dries quickly to a soft matte look. This lipstick stays on for hours on end, and does not feel heavy or drying at all.
Tumblr media
 JEFREE STAR COSMETICS
Velour Liquid Lipstick in “Mannequin”
MATTE
$18
A true matte lippy! I have always been a fan of Jeffree Star’s makeup line; but this color certainly takes the cake. This color will look good on anyone, in my opinion, and is slightly darker in person than shown here in the photograph. Dries to a quick matte and weightless finish that does. not. move.
Tumblr media
MAC
Lipstick in “Velvet Teddy”
Can be purchased in either a matte or satin finish
$17
This is the lipstick I have owned the longest, and will never fail to make me keep falling in love with it more and more. A true pink nude. Perfect for pretty much any look you create! I own the satin finish, and it is so unbelievably comfortable and lightweight. I receive compliments almost every time I wear it; and everyone I have recommended it to is absolutely in love. If you’re on the fence, I say this one’s your gal!
Tumblr media
COLOURPOP COSMETICS
Ultra Satin Lip in “Aquarius”
$6
Colourpop will always have a special place in my heart. High quality makeup at a drugstore price? Yes, please! This color is a cool-ish toned pinky nude, and never ceases to turn heads. The satin formula makes it very comfortable and gives off a slight sheen that makes your lips anything but flat. One of those colors I believe all makeup lovers should have in their arsenal.
Tumblr media
MAYBELLINE
Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss in “Unreal”
$8
This is the newest lippie on this list; but I have completely fallen head over heels for this formula and color! I am not usually a fan of lip glosses at all; but this formula is not over-bearingly shiny and has amazing opacity for a gloss. Can be worn alone or on top of another color for added shine. Hands down my favorite gloss of all time…! A warm brownish nude is perfect for almost all skin types, highly recommend this product!
Of course, I could go on and on about my favorite lipsticks. I could easily list my top 10, 20, or even 50 favorite nude lipsticks. However, I wanted to make it easy for you. These are my ride or dies – the lipsticks that can never ever be replaced in my collection. To the point, I cannot live without them. I wanted to share them because I know hard it can be for some makeup novices (or even pros) to find nude lips that go with almost any skin tone and look. The finishes vary, yet they are all so comfortable and wearable. Some of us have a hard time rocking bolder colors; but these are lipsticks literally any person can wear. I hope you enjoyed reading about my top 5 nude lips! More lipstick posts to come soon…
 With Love,

FACE MASKS 101 - PART 2
Welcome back! In today’s continued post of “Face Masks 101” I will be discussing which face masks are best for current skin problems you may be having. Whether it be clogged pores, acne, dullness, and dehydration – I got you.
If you would like to read back on part 1, you can find it here.
I am going to discuss problematic issues, why they are caused, how they are avoided, masks that work best, and ways to treat them.
 Clogged Pores:
Clogged Pores occurs when an accumulation of junk builds up on your skin, and your pores soak them up. Clogged pores are very noticeable; especially around the nose, forehead, and chin. Your diet could also be effecting your skin. Soda drinkers and greasy eaters especially! Remember, you body reflects how you treat it…
Clogged pores can be avoided by washing your face twice per day, along with exfoliating twice or three times per week. Another method to de-gunk your skin is you steam it, either in a sauna or using at home vaporizers. Personally, I steam my face around three times a week to clean it clean and fresh. This step is not necessary, however. Also, drinking lots of water and keeping skin hydrated really makes a difference in your skins appearance. For this skin issue, I recommend:
 Boscia
Luminizing Black Mask
$34
 Neutrogena
Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Daily Leave On Mask
$8.50
 Murad
Pore Extractor Pomegranate Mask
$38
 Acne:
Acne can be caused my numerous factors. Whether it be genetic, diet, or poor hygiene, hormones, etc., there are dozens of ways we can get acne. As sad as it sounds, we are all inevitable to the occasional pimple, no matter how much we take care of our skin.
Acne essentially is the severe clogging and swelling of a pore. So yes, when you have a giant zit that feels like its taking up half your face, that's one pore! Its one of those amazing things your body does that you really couldn't care less about. Despite that, you should be knowledgeable about the bacteria that's accumulated on your face.
Since acne itself has many causes, the “cure” for it doesn’t come with a clear path. The best advice I have would be to mask at least twice a week (three-four if the acne is severe) and try to eat as clean as you can. For acne, I recommend:
 CLINIQUE
Acne Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask
$25
 The Body Shop
Tea Tree Face Mask
$15
 Neutrogena
Blackhead Eliminating 2-1 Cleanser/Mask $11.50
 Dullness:
Dull skin is basically exactly what it sounds like. Your skin is flat, looking like it has no life! This is typically caused by dehydration or weight loss; this could also be from genes or stress. Exfoliation and hydration are the best way to fix this issue, on top of masking. If you are having this issue, I recommend:
 PETER THOMAS ROTH
Camu Camu Power C X 30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask
$62
 FORMULA 10.0.6
Get Your Glow On
$7
 SKINFOOD
Freshmade Lemon Mask
$13
 Dehydration:
Dehydration is caused when the body is not being given enough water, and therefore starts reflecting that on your face. This can cause skin to feel tight, dry, and looking older than it should. The best way to fix this is to drink water…and lots of it! Not just to nourish your skin; but your entire body. WATER IS LIFE! If you’re having this issue and want a quick fix, I would recommend:
 PACIFICA
Coconut Damage Mask
$16
 H2O PLUS
Oasis Moisture Lock Sleep Mask
$34
 NO7
Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask
$17
As mentioned in my previous post, masks do not magically erase everything with one use. Masks need consistent use, along with a healthy skin regimen to really see results. One cannot treat their body like an object and expect it to look like a goddess.

FACE MASKS 101
Ahhh, the beloved face mask. After a stressful day or week, they’re almost necessary in some of our routines. From all natural to expensive, there’s an array of masks for anybody and everybody. But are you using the right kind of mask for your skin? If you haven’t already realized – everyone’s skin is different and unique. From genes to sun exposure (and everything in between), our skin is built in different ways. With this being said, the mask your bestie uses and swears by might not be beneficial at all to your own skin’s needs. So... what are your skins needs? Let’s find out!
Tumblr media
If you have a combination skin type like me (oily T Zone with normal/dry everywhere else) then you can sometimes have trouble finding the right mask to suit all your needs. Lately I’ve really been enjoying the Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask from Formula 10.0.6.
At least twice a week, I apply a mask to my face right after I get out of the shower. I recommend this method to everyone, no matter what type of skin you have. The reason for this is because in the shower, your pores are opened up by the hot steam. Applying a mask when the pores are still open will make the mask much more effective, since the open pores literally soak up and absorb the product more.
Combination skin is the most common skin type. Your nose, forehead, and chin get oily throughout the day; but the rest of your face is normal (or even dry). Pores are large in the nasal area, and blackheads are very common. If you have this skin type, I would recommend:
 PHILOSOPHY
Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Exfoliating Clay Mask
$25
 NEUTROGENA
Cleanser/Mask
$8
I’ve been using this mask for years and I cannot begin to tell you how much I love it! Leaves your skin feeling very cool and refreshed
 FEELING BEAUTIFUL
Charcoal & Black Sugar Mask
$4.29
Dry Skin is where you virtually have no visible pores, and your skin is always feeling tight and in need of moisture. For this skin type, I recommend:
 THE BODY SHOP
Online Only Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Mask
$24
LUMENE
Lahde Hydration Recovery Aerating Gel Mask
$22
 SNP
Animal Koala Hydrating Mask Sheet
$5
Oily Skin is where the skin has large pores all over, and is always shiny. Acne and blackheads are very common with this skin type. I would recommend:
 MARIO BADESCU
Special Mask for Oily Skin
$18
 THE BODY SHOP
Tea Tree Face Mask
$17
 FORMULA 10.0.6
Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mask
$7
Sensitive Skin is always red and can react easily with a lot of chemicals. Can also be very acne prone. For this skin type I recommend:
 SHEAMOISTURE
100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Milk Mask
$13
 YES TO
Miracle Oil Calm & Soothe Primrose Oil Mud Mask
$3.29
 FIRST AID BEAUTY
Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask
$24
Aging skin is not necessarily a skin type, however more mature skin needs its own special type of ingredients to keep the skin feeling and looking young. I would recommend:
 MURAD
Age-Diffusing Firming Mask
$72
CLARINS
Extra-Firming Mask
$75
 PETER THOMAS ROTH
Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
$52
Now you may be thinking, “I wanted a mask for blackheads or smoothness”. These masks do accomplish that. If you feed your skin the right way, it will eventually balance itself out, and in return reflect the results you want. Using an acne mask while you have dry skin, for example, will only dry your face out more. Acne masks tend to have Salicylic Acid in them, which is a known drying acne medication. Clear skin does not happen in one day or after the use of one mask. You must treat your body and face with the upmost care, and I promise you, the love will reciprocate.
More to come soon. Hope this helps!

Noor Jawda

$10 EYE BRUSH SET - BUY OR BYE?
In today’s post, I will be reviewing an eye brush set I found on Amazon for just ten dollars. You heard me! 12 brushes for 10 bucks? Right off the bat, you automatically assume its either too good to be true, or they’re crappy - probably both.
As a (broke) college student who loves makeup, I have to get risky and creative with the products I buy. Certainly this set is no Wayne Goss; but a little part of me was very hopeful this was going to work. Then again don’t we all? Isn’t that why we tend to throw our money on cheap yet “effective” makeup/skincare? As soon as my package came in the mail, I immediately opened up the package and took this picture:
Tumblr media
If you’re from Snapchat fam (hollaaa!!) you saw this exact picture posted last Saturday. Since I’m an eager beaver, I quickly ran to try these out. Before I get to the review, here is a close up picture of each brush…
Tumblr media
This brush is used for blending all of your shadows together to create one seemless and effortless look. Typically the last brush you would use to complete a look.
Tumblr media
Personally, I would use this brush to both apply eye liner. BUT I have used this brush in the past to contour my nose (don’t be afraid to be creative!) since the small size of this brush is great with getting into those little nooks and crannies when it comes to countouring.
Tumblr media
This brush is mainly used for blending eyeshadow into the crease. Typically the first brush you would use onto your crease.
Tumblr media
This angled brush could be useful for applying a bit of shadow to your bottom lashline to really tie your entire look together. If not, I’ve also used this brush to carve out my cheekbones with cream contour ;)
Tumblr media
The ultimate blending brush. Recommended to be used mainly with darker shadows to blend into the outer 1/3rd of your eye and really bring that smokey look to life.
Tumblr media
Eye liner brush, made ideally for gel/pot eye liners.
Tumblr media
Standart blending/diffusing brush. A bit too compact for you crease, unless you’re into that kind of look! Could also be used to apply highlight to precise areas of the face.
Tumblr media
Standard flat lid brush. Used to apply the main color to you lid. HOWEVER, if you are using a super glittery shadow on your lid, you’re best off using your finger instead of this brush... but still, this comes in handy!
Tumblr media
Detailed blending brush. Gets into those areas where you really need to blend something in particular.
Tumblr media
Flat blending brush. Best used to diffuse crease color up into the lower brow bone.
Tumblr media
Small Pointed brush, best used for packing on dark colors into the outer third of your eye. I’ve also used this brush to highlight precise areas (like my brow bone and inner part of my eye) in the past.
Tumblr media
Small flat brush, can be used to either pack on color in specific areas OR to apply concealer to certain areas of your face :)
From first glance, I knew these brushes were going to work great (being around makeup for so long gives you that superpower). However, why are there three different colors/designs of brushes? That was a bit strange to me considering brush sets almost always come in one color; but oh well! The long and raspy white brushes are perfect for blending eye shadow into your crease, outer corner, brow bone, and more. When applying shadow, it is important you always go in with a light hand and try to diffuse as many harsh lines as you can. With the long white bristles, they work perfectly to accomplish that. The flatter brushes are absolutely perfect for packing on color to the lid and brow bone. To continue, these brushes are very sturdy, and no hairs fell out during the testing process – showing me that they were made well, and should be good enough to use for a long while. The brushes are all made out of synthetic fibers, which is music to my ears because that tells me no animal hairs were used at all. If you did not know real animal hair is used in some brushes…girl you need to research before you buy next time! Usually, the cheap brushes don't have them, so don't worry!
End of the day, BUY THESE BRUSHES!! For only $10, they are a complete steal. Noor has given her stamp of approval!
You can purchase this brush set here.
 Happy blending!!
Be sure to subscribe if you have not done so already!

6 Scents That Can Transform Your Mood and Productivity
Aromatherapy is probably not the first place your mind goes to when thinking of ways to cope with stress. As busy people with hectic lives, we must find a healthy outlook to channel all of our negative energy. Eating an unhealthy meal, napping, or chugging down coffee are some personal ways I have dealt with stress in the past. Over time, I began to notice these were affecting my attitude and mood. Smell is the strongest of the senses and is best able to influence brain activity. Olfactory bulbs are part of the limbic system and directly connect to the areas of the brain that process emotion and learning. Inhaling essential oils activates the hypothalamus – the area of the brain which sends messages to other parts of the body.
You can still get the benefits of aromatherapy in a shared workspace without offending others. Just place a drop or two of an essential oil on a cotton ball and take a whiff when you need an energy boost. If you have a private office, add 1-6 drops to an electric diffuser or create a mister by adding a few drops of essential oils to a spray bottle filled with distilled water.
Or, for a group benefit, put a bowl of hot water with a few drops of essential oils in the middle of the table at your next brainstorming session.
There are all natural ways to improve your body - one of those answers is aromatherapy. In this post, we will learn about the different types of scents and essential oils; in the hopes we can all recharge the healthy way.
 ----
1.     Lemon.
This scent promotes concentration and has calming and clarifying properties that are helpful when you're feeling angry, anxious or run down. Lemon also has antiviral and antibacterial properties and can help fight sore throats and colds by boosting the body's immune system and improving circulation.
Tumblr media
 2.     Lavender. This essential oil has calming properties that help control emotional stress. Lavender has a soothing effect on nerves and can relieve nervous tension and depression as well as treat headaches and migraines.
Tumblr media
 3.     Jasmine. Like lavender, jasmine is also used to calm nerves, but this oil is also commonly used as an anti-depressant because of its uplifting capabilities that produce a feeling of confidence, optimism and revitalized energy.
Tumblr media
 4.     Rosemary. This is the perfect Monday morning pick-me-up. In addition to improving memory retention, rosemary has stimulating properties that fight physical exhaustion, headaches and mental fatigue. Rosemary can also be used topically to relieve muscular aches and pains.
Tumblr media
 5.     Cinnamon. The stimulating properties in cinnamon can help fight mental fatigue and improve concentration and focus.
Tumblr media
 6.     Peppermint. Try peppermint when brainstorming. An energy booster, this scent invigorates the mind, promotes concentration and stimulates clear thinking.
Tumblr media
there are numerous scents for all the moods out there. However, these deem to be most effective when dealing with productivity and stress. I hope you begin to use these herbs and essential oils to become the most “zen” person in your workplace!

Noor Jawda

TOP FOUNDATIONS UNDER $15
Say whaaat? Yes, honey, you read that right! As an individual who both loves makeup and is a college student, sometimes I have to cut corners. Then again, we all deserve to have a flawless face without dropping some serious $$$
I have spent years testing out different types of foundations. It’s definitely taken a toll on my bank account over the years. Despite that, I have discovered the absolute best drugstore foundations that actually work as well – if not better – than high end ones. So what are we waiting for?! Let’s get to it!
These are not ranked in any kind of order – each have something unique and great about them
  LOREAL INFALLIBLE PRO-MATTE FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
This foundation is simply AMAZING. For those of us who have oily or combination skin, it is quite literally a God sent! Buildable medium-to-full coverage, and really does stay matte all day. Only downside is that this foundation heavily oxidizes (gets darker when you actually apply it), and there are not many color selections to choose from…
Tumblr media
My personal shade is 104, Natural Buff. Overall, this foundation is worth a shot, especially for only $12!
MAYBELLINE FIT ME MATTE + PORELESS FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
ummm hi, for $8 you best believe this is on my list!!! I have honestly gone through maybe 8 or so bottles of this foundation, and still going strong! An all day wear foundation for a crazy good price – does not get any better than that! Comes in 40 shades, which you can see here. My personal shade is 128 Warm Nude. This is a must have for all! Also, it looks great and flawless in photos!
MILANI CONCEAL + PERFECT 2 IN 1 FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
For $10, this foundation packs a serious full coverage punch. The thickest formula out of this bunch, with a somewhat whipped consistency. Despite that, two pumps will completely cover your entire face and neck with ease! I am currently on my third bottle. I am shade 03 Light Beige. The only recommendation I would advise with this foundation is to set it with powder. Given its thicker formula, it tends to slip and move around throughout the day. However, if set correctly, this product will leave you looking perfect yet amazingly natural looking all day long!
Tumblr media
WET N’ WILD PHOTOFOCUS FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
This $6 foundation can be found in nearly every drugstore, which is so convenient! As it claims, this foundation was made specifically for flash photography. A medium to full coverage semi-matte finish will make you want to wear this all day every day! The only downside I have about this foundation is that is smells like wet wall paint when you first apply it. Despite that, I am willing to suffer through the scent given the great results it gives back. Comes in a few dozen shades, you can find you perfect match here.
Side note!! The photo focus concealer is amazingggg and I may even like it more than the foundation…
 COVERGIRL HEALTHY ELIXIR FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
THIS IS MY FAVORITE DRUGSTORE FOUNDATION EVER!!!!!
Honestly, I don't even know where to begin…First of all, this foundation came out only a few months ago. I was hesitant at first because I have never really been a fan of Covergirl foundations. However, the claim that this is an oil-free foundation that is infused with vitamins really appealed to me. I got my shade right on the first try, and I was so pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this foundation! Despite the fact my nose and T Zone get oily throughout the day, this foundation does not seem to convey that. Covergirl’s Healthy Elixir foundation gives me the healthiest, most plump and dewy face, without looking greasy or cakey. A truly amazing foundation. For about $13, I seriously recommend this product! I will be buying it for yearrrrssss to come! Also, it looks great in photos, who doesn’t love that?! I am shade 725 Buff Beige.
Tumblr media
Those are my favorite 5 affordable foundations under $15!! With this in your arsenal, you will be unstoppable!!!!

Noor Jawda

Skin Types 101
First things first: one must really know and understand their skin in order to feed it what is best. Imagine feeding a plant chocolate milk; gross right? Well as it turns out, that could be the way you are feeding your own skin! Before we dive any deeper, it is imperative you find the skin type you have first…
  DRY SKIN-
·      Almost invisible pores
·      Dull, rough complexion
·      Red patches
·      Your skin is less elastic
·      More visible lines
  OILY SKIN –
·      Enlarged pores
·      Dull or shiny, thick complexion
·      Blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes
 SENSITIVE SKIN –
·      Redness
·      Itching
·      Burning
·      Dryness
 COMBINATION SKIN –
Your skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead, and chin). Many people have this type. It may need slightly different care in different areas. This is the skin type I have.
 ·      Pores that look larger than normal, because they’re more open
·      Blackheads
·      Shiny skin
 NORMAL SKIN –
·      No or few imperfections
·      No severe sensitivity
·      Barely visible pores
·      A radiant complexion
Know which type you have? I hope this gave you a better understanding of your skin! As mentioned above, I have combination skin. To be completely honest with you, none of them are that fun to deal with. However, now that you know your type, you can begin nourishing your skin with the right things! Here are a list of items I personally recommend to keep your skin squeaky clean – the right way!
 DRY SKIN –
LANCÔME
Crème Radiance Clarifying Cream-to-Foam Cleanser
$26
 MURAD
Renewing Cleansing Cream
$38
 BURT'S BEES
Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser
$10
 OILY SKIN –
 CLINIQUE
Liquid Facial Soap - Oily Skin Formula
$14
 THE BODY SHOP
Tea Tree 3 in 1 Wash Scrub Mask
$22
 SOAP & GLORY
The Fab Pore Purifying Foam Cleanser
$12
 SENSITIVE SKIN –
 PACIFICA
Quinoa Sensitive Face Wash
$10
 MARIO BADESCU
Cleansing Milk with Carnation & Rice Oil
$12
 NEUTROGENA
Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser
$10
 COMBINATION SKIN –
 THE BODY SHOP
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash
$14
 NEUTROGENA
Pore Refining Cleanser
$8.50
 SOAP & GLORY
Face Soap And Clarity Facial Wash
$12
 NORMAL SKIN –
 NO7
Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser
$10
 NEUTROGENA
Deep Clean Daily Cleanser
$7
 BLISS
Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
$24
The suggestions could go on and on! However, this is just a start to get the ball rolling. Remember, skin should be washed twice daily. The longer you use a cleanser, the more your skin will adapt to it. Patience is key!
  With Love,
Noor
