Protection/Warding Black Salt

Not to be confused with volcanic salt/Himalayan black salt/kala namak. Black salt has strong protective properties, especially when combined with other protective/uncrossing herbs (herbs meant to undo a curse or hex). It’s used to absorb negative energy, create wards, and undo curses. It’s also good for banishing and binding. Here’s my recipe:

What you’ll need:

Cleansing items, such as smoke, bells, spray, whichever you personally use.

Sea Salt

Charcoal Disk (or charcoal powder)

Black Candle

Rosemary

Garlic Powder

Chili Powder

Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

Paprika

Black Pepper

Black Candle

Bowl

Mortar & Pestle

Black stones/crystals

Any additional protective items you may have. (Here I gathered dried red peppers, dried chili peppers, lemon, sage, and ashed from a Litha bonfire.) These items are for You to draw some extra energy from, and won’t be directly added to the salt.

Frankincense and/or Dragon’s Blood incense.

Instructions:

First, cleanse your space using whatever best works for you.

After cleansing, start your frankincense and/or dragon’s blood incense, this will be going for the duration of the spell.

Light your black candle.

Gather your supplies as seen in the picture.

As always, make sure your intention is strong, and continuously draw from it. Return to your intent no matter how often your mind wanders (which it will, that’s ok).

In a bowl, mix the salt with the herbs first.

Remember your other protective items are there for you to use. If needed, refocus on their protective energies and draw from that.

Use a mortar and pestle to crush the charcoal disk separately. This takes a lot of physical energy, and it is very messy. If you prefer to use charcoal powder, that’s ok, though charcoal disks will be cheaper. I like charcoal disks because I feel more energetically involved in/connected to the process.

Mixing counterclockwise, mix the very finely crushed charcoal into the salt. Mix. Use as many charcoal disks needed to get to the level of darkness you want.

Mind wandering? Remember your intent! Refocus!

When you’re done, transfer the black salt into a jar and set the crystals around it in a circle. Let it continue to build and charge this way, until you feel it is ready. If you’re not sure, it can also be until the candle or incense goes out.

Done! Sprinkle this around the parameter of your wards, such as along doorways and windows. It can also be used during unhexing/curse breaking spells, general protection spells, banishing, and binding.

This is NOT FOR CONSUMPTION.

Even if you used edible activated charcoal, know that 1. charcoal interacts with many medications by basically absorbing them and rendering them useless, including birth control, diabetes medications, cancer drugs, and more. and 2. I’m not sure this would taste great?

in exilium mitto te - I send you into exile! very emphatic. exile was a massive deal in Roman culture and politics. could also be used for a curse.

There’s Snow Place Like Home- Spell for Bad Weather

So I live in the South, a place notorious for lots of things, including the fact that we are completely incompetent when it comes to bad weather. I’m not kidding- 3 days ago the weatherman predicted snow for our area and the whole town reacted like the apocalypse was coming.

^Basically.

Now, I’m a nervous witch as is, and I and my family have to travel a lot. So for all witches who face this kind of snowy weather on a regular basis, I came up with this incantation.

This day, no matter how far we roam,

We all shall make it safely home.

As we each go our separate ways

Make clear the path despite the haze.

Safe, secure, and worry-free,

And it harm none, so mote it be.

Holiday Ornament Snow Spell ❅

A crafty, easy DIY spell to bring about those winter flurries

By Rainy-Day-Witchcraft ❅

Materials:

1 clear ornament sphere

3 Bay leaves

Powdered/confectioners sugar

Quartz crystal (small chips would work best)

Pine and/or peppermint (Any part of pine - needles/wood/sap are all fine, as is crumbled peppermint candy canes rather than the herb in a pinch)

Note: This spell will work immensely better in an area with high chance of snowfall, low temperatures, and in high altitudes. You probably won’t have too much luck casting at a warmer time of year, either! Try checking local radars and weather forecasts to find optimal times for casting specific weather spells (I highly recommend the phone app iRadar for weather witches)

Step 1 ❅

Gather all of your ingredients for the spell and find something to serve as a funnel to fill the ornament with the materials ~ If you don’t happen to have a funnel in your kitchen, try rolling up a piece of paper to use instead; it works just as well. Fill the ornament in this order:

1. Powdered sugar - 2. pine/crushed peppermint - 3. Quartz crystal(s) - 4. Bay leaves

Each of these ingredients, of course, is used to serve as a bit of the intent in your spell! Powdered sugar represents the snow, both pine and peppermint for purity and change, quartz has been referred to “eternal/unmelting ice” and can be infused with any intent, and bay leaves are useful for wishing magick.

Step 2 ❅

Once you are happy with how your ornament looks - hold it in your hands, visualize snow falling upon your desired location, and chant the following:

“Winds strong and winds fast

Blow with haste and with good pace

Chill the air as crisp winter rain falls

Turnt to twisting and dancing snow to fall upon the earth

High into the clouded skies, I call

So it Will Be!”

As you chant, feel your energy move from your hands to the ornament; continue imagining the snow fall, and infusing the ornament with your intent. Once you feel ready to close the spell, gradually finish your visualization and ground yourself.

Step 3 ❅

Place the ornament in a freezer for about 10 minutes, just to chill it a bit.

Then with a ribbon, string, or piece of twine, hang up your ornament in a window ~ Not only will keeping the ornament up help materialize your spell, but it also makes a lovely decoration and is non-suspicious for secret witches! Your spell is now completed, and hopefully a chilly snow storm is on it’s way.

a spell to bring forth winter snow

the autumn leaves continue to rot, and winter has begun to kiss the trees and loom over us. i live in an area where snow is rare and fleeting; if you live somewhere like this, here is a spell to encourage snow to fall. best done during a waxing moon. you will need:

❄ a dry bay leaf (wish granting) and a pen

❄ peppermint tea (strengthening energy of a space, transformation)

❄ blue and white candles

❄ an ice cube tray

on your bay leaf, write “bring me snow”. once the ink is dry, fold or crumble the bay into an ice cube tray and pour water over it, and pop it in the freezer.

as you wait for the leaf to freeze, light your candles and brew your peppermint tea. visualize the winter weather you wish to have; gentle snowflakes falling silently on the white earth. stay warm by the candleflame.

once the bay leaf is frozen in ice, take the ice cub outside and bury it in some soil near your home. as the leaf thaws and melts into the soil, and the moon waxes towards fullness, your energy will resonate and encourage snowfall.

Imbolc Correspondences

Celebrated February 1, or around the time when the Sun reaches fifteen degrees in the sign of Aquarius, Imbolc is a festival to honor the returning light.

Much of the world is fairly dark and cold right now, but the days are indeed getting a little bit longer!

It’s also the midpoint of the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere. You can honor this with seasonal root vegetables and warming, comforting meals.

Listed below are a few ideas to welcome warmth, the lengthening daylight, and the promise of renewal as we look toward Spring:

🌞 Plan your garden.

🌞 Light white candles to symbolize the Sun’s gradual return.

🌞 Work magick with cinnamon. This spice is known for its purifying qualities, ability to attract abundance, and heightening psychic awareness.

🌞 Do spell or energy work centered around boosting creativity or cleansing your home.

🌞 Set intentions for new beginnings in your life.

Coin Jinx

If you’re able to give a coin to someone you dislike, this is a covert way to jinx or hex someone who is annoying you. Take a coin and some black nail polish and paint over the eyes of whoever is on your chosen coin.

If you have a special nail polish or want to change the color you use, that works as well. The point is to just paint over the eyes. Let the paint dry and then take the coin into your left hand and tell it to cause only its very next holder trouble until it gets rid of it.

I wish you hell: Hex

This is a hex for when someone has taken advantage of your kindness and love. Best used when you’ve done nothing but wish well, and help someone and they’ve done nothing but hurt you in return.

What you’ll need:

A dandelion or a flower cut out of paper

A lighter

A windy day (Optional but adds power to the intent)

A list of ways they hurt you.

Start by writing a list of all the ways you were hurt and used by this person. Fold that into the smallest square you can. Put this to the side.

Take the dandelion or paper flower in one hand and a lighter in the other. and say “I wished you well, you gave me hell. Now I’ll wish to you what you gave to me.” And flick the lighter, and burn the flower. If you are doing this outside on a windy day, feel the breeze and picture your intent flowing out in the breeze.

Then take the folded list, dig a small hole and bury it.

Ex best friend.

I can’t stop thinking about all the bad shit you did to me. How I walked around for months with rose tinted glasses, making excuses for everything that wasn’t right but it was okay coz that was just who you were. I can’t believe how blinded I was to everything. I came to you in a time of need and vulnerability and you took the information I gave you and used it against me. You threw my mental health in my face.

Every time I speak to you or see your name all I can think about is how you treated me. You have destroyed my trust in other people. I no longer share my struggles with close friends out of fear. Fear of abandonment. Fear of ignorance. Fear of blatant disrespect and disregard for how I feel at all.

You were who I was closest to in the entire world. And you broke my heart with what you did and said. All I do is replay everything over and over. Wishing I could tell you exactly how I feel and make you wake up to the toxicity that is involved with being close to you.

But I can’t.

Because I’m not like you. I don’t yell at customer service people when they get my order wrong. I don’t disrespect and degrade peoples boyfriends. I don’t choose the quickest fuck over spending time with friends. I don’t use people. And I certainly don’t throw peoples mental health issues in their faces. Or tell them that they’re an alcoholic because they had a bad reaction to drinking, one time.

You walk around pretending like your shit doesn’t stink and that no matter what you’re always in the right. You flaunt your relationship around on social media to such a degree that is honestly disturbing. FYI no one cares about what you and your boyfriend do in the bedroom. Stop tagging each other in that crap for everyone to see. You pretend like just because you’ve “found someone” that you know how relationships work. You don’t. You know nothing about what it takes to be in a healthy relationship and I feel sorry for all the people you have caught in your web.

I honestly want to smack you, wake you up and make you realise what you’ve done. But I know you’ll never see the wrongs you have committed. The hearts you’ve broken. The trust you’ve destroyed. The friendships and support systems you’ve crushed. You’ll never apologise because you believe your actions are justified. Always.

I hate you. I miss you. But I really hate you for making me feel this way. I hate you for affecting me this way. I hate you for damaging my mental health and my faith in people. I miss you so much. But I cannot stand to be around you and your “friends” anymore.

I am done with you.
