since i am moving i have many errant drawings to pack up and if there is interest i wish to give away originals on here to raise money for the PCRF.
i hope i reach a window of mobility/ feeling /coordination in my arms and hands enough to make reproductions to include as well. whenever needed i will collaborate with friends to help me out! i have reevaluated authorship in my age of incurable brain disease;the blessings, the curses.😂
i have inconsistently tagged #my art. mostly i create images silly or disarming enough to give me calm, that is the dream, to impart that somehow to someone.
my health has taken me out of the world for several months, past 8 i have to focus every breath to get through (and i do!). i also had a series of cancer screenings that bh were ALL negative. still it stirred the obsessive worry and as the mental effects added up, i have tended to it more privately. i am sorry that has meant increasing silence when voices matter so much...
thank you for reading and considering.💝 ill have more information about fundraising tomorrow or soonest
be safe,
פסח שמח

faith ringgold, "tar beach i," 1988, acrylic paint, canvas, printed fabric, ink and thread
from the handwritten text, written from the perspective of the quilt's fictional subject, the elementary-aged cassie louise lightfoot:
"Sleeping on Tar Beach was magical. Laying on the roof in the night with stars and skyscraper buildings all around me made me feel rich, like I owned all that I could see. The bridge was my most prized possession. Daddy said the George Washington Bridge was the longest and most beautiful bridge in the world and that it opened in 1931 on the very day I was born. Daddy worked on that bridge hoisting cables. Since then, I’ve wanted that bridge to be mine. "Now I have claimed it. All I had to do was fly over it for it to be mine forever. I can wear it like a giant diamond necklace, or just fly above it and marvel at its sparkling beauty. I can fly, yes fly. Me, Cassie Louise Lightfoot, only eight years old and in thebthird grade and I can fly. That means I am free to go wherever I want to for the rest of my life."

hi im fine i left randomly lol it was anxiety eating me inside out cuz im having complications from multiple sclerosis that aren't resolving after an exacerbation that put me in the hospital in autumn. so im moving a few hundred miles to be closer to an ms clinic, more temperate climate and my family... even if it's a detour of desperation and aggravating depression anxiety that good stuff. i fall into hopelessness but that's the deadliest demon of ms the psychic stuff. sooo i just am trying on that part listening to songs and whatever.<3 there are only millions of other ppl facing this w/me..hope whatever you're going thru you have some sense of not being alone, and not being alone in feeling alone or hopeless or out of control. cuz same.<3

with l.v. [sometimes spelled 'elvie'] thomas on guitar; l.v. and geeshie alternated guitar parts and vocals track to track on their vivid yet mysterious recordings. duos of women on guitars this early were virtually unheard of.
Skipping ahead to March 1930, this is one of my favorite examples of the intoxicating sounds of the female-fronted blues. Like her contemporaries Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith, Geeshie Wiley was from the deep south (Natchez, Miss.) and her haunting intonations give this song an almost gothic feel. It’s blue to the bone, and one of the great records of all time.

11 months after emahoy passed at 99 years old, there comes the first release of most of these songs. the poetic mysticism of her piano this time accompanies singing of the same unforgettable poignancy. so much music is beautiful, but what sets emahoy's apart is how it inspires listeners to seek and to take in the beauty of the world, of their life. when i listen i feel closer to hashem, because i notice the sunlight. emahoy was a healer; she continues to heal the whole world,& she always will.
