OK, what I really liked in the trailer was that it does not feel like they’re going with the typical jealousy trope where Colin only realizes his feelings once he sees her with another man
There is very clearly a moment, when their bare hands touch that Colin feelings start to emerge. I feel like that’s where Colin’s Journey starts. Because he’s helping her that allows him to spend more time with Pen and become more introspective about their friendship and the idea that it could possibly be more than friendship.
There’s multiple moments of them, just smiling at each other and being friends. I think Colin has always known that he adores Penelope, but he’s never really looked deeper than that and spending more time with her is making him question his own feelings. We literally see moments of tension like the hand cut scene where you can see something is simmering there that’s getting harder to ignore but as this is happening so is the situation stuff. Penelope is preparing to settle for someone who isn’t Colin bc she doesn’t think he’s an option anymore so I think Debling is just there to put more pressure on Colin bc what I see when Colin is looking at Pen & Debling is longing not jealousy
