Setting My Lineup
After completing the draft, a hugely important thing is setting the lineup. Which player will bring success in which position. If I place one player here, how many errors will he/she make? So I put a lot of thought into this and came up with this:
Junior Bombers
Game 1 Lineup
1. Ichiro-CF
2. Pete Wheeler-2B
3. Pablo Sanchez-RF
4. Achmed Khan-1B
5. Kiesha Phillips-3B
6. Angela Delvecchio-P
7. Amir Khan-C
8. Stephanie Morgan-SS
9. Vicki Kawaguchi-LF
Ichiro was an obvious pick for the leadoff spot and CF as he is fast and skilled at hitting and fielding.
Pete has a little more power than Ichiro, but is just as fast, so I put him at the number 2 spot. Having that 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup is nearly unstoppable as either can beat out any ground ball to 1st base. Typically I like to put Pete in the OF, but he makes a lot of errors, so I put him at 2nd to minimize the damage.
I want Pablo to hit in the 1st inning every time, so that's why he's at 3 instead of 4.
Achmed is in the cleanup spot, because he can sure cleanup with all those guys on base.
Never having seen much of Keisha I am putting her at the heart of the lineup to see just what she can do. The top 4 are nearly unstoppable, so the pressure is on to see if she can keep up. I put her at 3rd, because it seemed like a good fit, but I will adjust accordingly.
Angela is my starting pitcher (I hope to use Amir, Pablo, Stephanie, and Vicki as relievers) and hopefully she can stay strong on the mound. Her hitting skills are excellent and the 6 spot seemed well suited for her.
Amir improved his hitting going into the season, so depending on performance he could go up or down.
Stephanie is a decent hitter, but in a lineup so packed with great bats, she gets stuck in the 8 spot. At SS she is the anchor of the infield and I think her leadership will really help this team out.
Vicki is batting last in hopes of using her as a second leadoff hitter. Once we've batted through, she will come up and add a spark to the bottom half. I put her in LF trusting that she can get the job done, I've seen her resume and I like it.

The Draft
Just completed the draft. Here is the outline of what went on:
1. Pablo Sanchez-Best player in the game, he will be the star of the franchise. No doubt about it.
2. Achmed Khan-Love this kid. He's got a lot of power and is probably the 2nd best hitter to Pablo. His fielding and running skills aren't as good, but he is solid.
3. Pete Wheeler-Probably the fastest kid in the game, tends to make a lot of mistakes, but his speed helps him make up for it.
4. Ichiro-The only major league player I picked up, but I love a good leadoff man and Ichiro is definitely the definition of one.
5. Amir Khan-Just like I love Achmed, I also love his brother Amir a lot. Amir is a talented pitcher and tends to improve on hitting once the year begins.
6. Angela Delvecchio-I wanted somebody who was a really good pitcher, but also had other talents. Angela will be my starting pitcher, but is also talented at hitting.
7. Stephanie Morgan-This girl loves baseball and has all the skills to be a good player. I am looking to use her as a middle infielder, leading with her defensive prowess.
8. Viki Kawaguchi-Vicki is not a good hitter, but she is up there when it comes to speed. Anytime I need to bunt somebody over, she will be the one to use. Also, her defensive skills look to make her a strong asset in the outfield.
9. Kiesha Phillips-I have never used Kiesha before in a BYBG (Backyard Baseball Game), but after scouting her and seeing how good she was at hitting and running, I used my last pick to snag her. Looking forward to see what she can do for me.
