Could I hear about Remus/Fenrir please?

I started writing this after a week where multiple clients were processing the feeling of going back to someone who had hurt you and the shame of that experience (even though it's so incredibly normal and common!) I'm not really sure what I want to do with what I've written (if I want to make it into a coherent one-shot or incorporate it into a larger wolfstar fic), but here's some of it!

Remus/Fenrir

Trying to take power from your abuser

Feeling monstrous

Letting Fenrir fuck him was easier when he was drunk, but even when he was sober it was all Remus could think about now.

Dumbledore talking about increased security for Muggle gatherings suspected to be targets of attacks had Remus thinking of Fenrir’s teeth – yellowed and sharp and repulsive and enticing all at once.

James asking him if he was doing alright had Remus considering the sharp inhale Fenrir made when he was turned on and nothing was going to stop him.

And Sirius -

Sirius only touched Remus when he was drunk, and Remus wondered if Sirius was to himself as he was to Fenrir. The desire to fuck the monster so humiliating that it took a thick layer of firewhiskey to tolerate.

Sirius was drinking more than Remus was, and Remus might have been drinking more than he ought to, but Sirius held his liquor well and always showed up to his assignments full of energy no matter how little sleep he may have gotten the night before.

The war was wearing on Remus. The werewolves were wearing on Remus. Lying to his friends about the werewolves – the werewolf – was wearing on Remus.

Staying with the wolves extra nights of the month, well past when Dumbledore needed him to, gave him a few more days of not lying. Well, not lying to anyone he cared about.

(He didn’t care about Fenrir.)

(When he told him wizarding society had rejected him totally and the truest part of himself was drawn to the pack, to the wolves, to him he was lying.)

(He was lying.)

Remus was a good liar. He didn’t lie to Dumbledore because that would have been impossible. He lied to James and told him, yes, he was alright, just tired, just worried. He lied to Peter, telling him, yes, he cared about Peter’s mother and wasn’t it so sad. He lied to Sirius without his words telling him, yes, this is fine, all I want is a drunk fuck twice a month, yes I believe you when you say you’re alright when I know you were shooting out curses to your family. He had enough selves tied up in trunks in his mind that it wasn’t even lying to himself. Each part was telling the truth, even if they contradicted.

Remus Lupin was a wizard. Remus Lupin was getting fucked by Sirius Black, drunk and beautiful, and was making excuses for him and why his curses never seemed to strike the Death Eaters with raven-black hair. Remus Lupin was a werewolf. Remus Lupin was getting fucked by Fenrir Greyback and making excuses to stay with the pack longer so he could get fucked again by the monster who turned him.

If he chose to lay for Fenrir. If he chose to pull off his robes and stand naked for Fenrir with his scars exposed, the the unhealed bruises and scratches from the moon exposed, with bony limbs exposed, with his cock, humiliatingly half-hard already, exposed, then he was not Fenrir’s victim.

Maybe this time it’ll be different. Maybe this time it won’t hurt. Maybe this time the physical pain will be cleansing and he’ll wake up tomorrow anew.

Remus Lupin is so fucking extra though? Like, everyone calls Sirius dramatic but Remus has like two settings: 0 and 100. Like in Snape’s Worst Memory he’s all: hexing is bad and I want no part in this, but then he sees Peter and is like: hey friend time to die He’s on Sirius’s back all the time like ‘chill man we need to think things through’ but then he’s like ‘so I married Tonks but in hindsight nah I’ll ruin her life so I’m coming on an adventure k?’ He’s super chill paring off Snape: ‘marauders map? Nah mate no idea I guess I’ll just take it off yours hands goodnight’ then at the mention of Sirius Black’s name he throws his suitcase half way across the room ‘how dare you? accuse me? Sirius Black?!?’ He’s just either so chill or so over the top like oh my god

Ok yeah romance is fine and all but if you ship prongsfoot you'll have to consider that they would NOT gaze lovingly into each others eyes 24/7 no, they're so insane and energised they probably try having sex on a broomstick in midair, Sirius gets tied up to the headboard upside down more often than not, they come freakishly close to getting discovered by teachers on purpose and James tries complicated spells for the first time while Sirius rides him for dear life and they do all of that while laughing manically. And THEN they can engage in some eye-gazing.

What is it?

This is a fest for artists, writers, and all those in fandom centered on the Marauders-era characters and weed (and its magical equivalents). While the main goal of this fest is to have fun, build community, and expand the collection of works that include Marauders-era characters getting high (they did go to school in the 70s, after all), we welcome darker works as well.

Rules:

You have to be 18+ to participate in this fest.

Whatever you create does not have to adhere to canon. It just has to feature at least one of the Marauders and weed in one form or another.

We want to foster an inclusive environment and will not tolerate any sort of bigotry, including but not limited to: homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, and antisemitism.

We do not condone ship or character bashing and follow the YKINMKBYKIO (“your kink is not my kink but your kink is okay”) rule.

okay so i totally played myself here: this started out as a cracky spite reclist, but i should have known better… i may now have fifteen new ships.

seriously, they’re legitimately good. SO many good reads.

1. remus/hermione

look. i don’t just have a fic rec for this. i have a rec for a ship manifesto (original link | wayback machine) and rec list (LJ comm het-reccers | wayback machine)

Because of the slim canon interaction and the many obstacles to writing the pairing, it’s often done badly. But I think when it’s done well, it’s done very well; a writer who can keep the two characters true to the Remus and Hermione that we know and still write a convincing relationship between them tends to be a good writer. Consequently, there are some real gems among the fandom. In conclusion, yes, this is difficult to write and indeed to get your head around. But done well, it can be challenging, thought-provoking, fluffy, angsty, dark and hot. Often all at the same time. And in a fandom that ships cephalopods, this can only be a good thing.

first entry on that reclist is a ~10k E-rated fic titled after a shakespeare sonnet, and the rec begins:

This is by far my favorite fic in any fandom or ship. It's a beautiful story that depicts how these two characters slowly weave into each other.

holy fuck this ship blindsided me with the angst and tragedy!! mwpp era writers, why are you Like This.

The Day After by violet_quill (1k, E). canon compliant, november the first, 1981, adultery. the repeating motif of street trash hurts me.

He doesn't think about how he doesn't like coffins anymore than he likes bars; he doesn't wonder who has the worse fate. He tries not to remember that he will be the only one left to put flowers on the graves. He doesn't think about James either.

A Different Fate by lordhellebore (6.5k, T): remus and petunia raise dudley and a disabled harry au, in 65 x 100-word drabbles. fluffy, angsty, a surprisingly wholesome take on this pairing!

Disparities by @puuvillaa (2.5k, M). first war fic, yummy hatesex, who is using who?

Fallen Stars by @siriusly-sapphic (4k, T): hogwarts-era alternative sorting slytherin remus au is such a good setup for this pairing!

Pruddy's Inn by littlealex (2k, E): post-canon au, ahhh gorgeous '00s era fic.

Pansy's legs disentangle themselves from around Remus' shoulder and arm, and Remus collapses on top of her, unable to support his own weight. She sighs contentedly and threads her fingers through his hair, her eyes still shut firmly against reality. What good is reality, she muses, if I can just pretend to get what I want?

11. remus/cho

The Heart by bloodsugarlove (7k, T). teacher/student told from teacher pov is always fascinating and the prose in this one is unique and lovely! note: doesn’t warrant the underage warning, no whiff of underage sex anywhere.

It's something of a scandal that Cho is seeker for Ravenclaw; many girls appear threatened by this, though they can't deny that is is rather decent at the position. Boys think it is fascinating, and Chang herself is arrogant in the most charming way. Not that Mr. Lupin really thinks so, mind you; it's a collective opinion, and anyway he has had quite his fill of arrogance. He has had quite his fill of a lot of things. He would really rather think of something else.

12. remus/luna

Stubby Boardman and the Cacao Bean by kestrelsan (2k, G), a remix fic!!! loved the original drabble and it was so cool to see it expanded into this oneshot.

honestly this is a real quality ship! in addition to all the delicious smutty kink fic that’s all over the ship tag, there’s also:

this postwar perfection -- he was learning what was real: like Heliopaths and Snorcacks and love! -- Bearing Fruit by @paulamcg (2k, M),

Big Teeth/Little Red by PacificRimbaud (5k, M): oh my god this was utterly delightful. it’s a library meet-cute and a halloween party and the age differences, hahaha. a ton of age gap pairings here -- harry/pansy is the only one that is not, iirc.

While he tugs at the cap, he wonders at the audacity of living one’s life as Sirius Black. What must it be like: to understand the line between being a man who has bad ideas, and being a bad man? To gleefully ride along the edge of it, to toss away all but your own discernment, to simply do what you would like to do so long as no one’s being harmed, to not worry about what your desires say about you, to call your godson’s half-dressed former girlfriend a bad idea to her waggishly smiling face at your kitchen table and to let yourself bask in the fallout, sated like a wolf that's helped itself to a lamb. A— …big bad wolf…

15. remus/andromeda

Shelter at Your Door by starfishstar (13k, T): an andromeda doesn’t elope, marries and later leaves lucius au. the r/a relationship in this au is so well-written, their compatibility is so lovely, and although tonks is never born in this au, the r/t echoes are deliciously haunting!

"So," she said softly, pressing down against him, and Remus, following instinct at last, arched to meet her. "Are we doing this?" "Yes," Remus agreed, a whisper in her ear. "We're doing this." Careful not to sound judgemental about it, Andromeda asked, "Have you done this before?" With Remus and his insistence that everything about himself was dangerous and not to be allowed, it was difficult to know. He gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Yeah. Couple of times." "Oh?" she teased, still gentle. "What happened to being too dangerous for anything beyond friendship?" Remus' mouth made a wry twist. "It found itself on a collision course with being nineteen years old and horny, that's what happened to it."

Actually he is drinking in the deep blue sky and the golden light through the trees and the quiet of the street when everyone is off to work or school. The book is so that he can tell himself he is doing something, because there is no time these days to waste, even though he has nowhere to be until evening.

👹 monsters: Amateur Cartography // montparnasse // 50k, M. first war montparnasse fics capture just everything i think and feel and want to say about monsters and this ship so have an extra-long vibe quote (it's two sentences).

Monsters, it turns out, are what Dumbledore has in mind: werewolves mostly, same as it’s been for nearly a year, but now too giants and vampires and hags crouching in the distant crags and cracks of England where the bloodless whispers of war go unheeded by those living unfettered at the knife-edge of constant battles already long lost, strange covens of pale, mud-splattered people huddling under the cowl of their curse with their own dialect, their own dark comforts, their own brutal justice, weighed on the scales of fearful necessity and savage hunger. The cottage in the woods will lend him greater credence than a flat in Camden and a part-time desk job at a Muggle library and, though Dumbledore doesn’t say so, a handsome, reluctant Auror-to-be boyfriend with a last name louder than his motorbike; so Remus hoards what little he has and settles into the hillside, fighting his way through the roses and the mint that’s conquered the old garden and taking tea outside with The Secret Mating Patterns of Boggarts and Misery for Pastime and Profit at sundown, dwindling into the house with the ancient, dusty draught blowing through the kitchen every night and speaking its comfort against his lips and his ears, gently, gently.

🕸️ free space: If We Make It Through December // Suchsmallhands @shipsnsails // 14k, G. this fic is a solace, a warm little shelter in a snowstorm, a temporary respite in between the two wars.

He remembered when it was warm. Sipping absently and staring vacantly, he remembered summer and the heat that touched every memory. Even the warm nights on the parapets of Gryffindor tower, when four boys could gather and smoke cigarettes and grass without bundling up. The stars overhead seemed closer and blurrier in the summertime. Only the moonlight remained untouched by the sweetness of the summers, which brought visits at the Potter’s, and swimming in creeks without a shirt because the only people near enough to see were his friends.

They run until they’re somewhere else, and then Sirius is slamming Remus up against the wall, and every other time felt like play, but this doesn’t feel like play. This feels like James and Peter. This feels like Sirius means it. And then he’s molding himself to Remus. He’s fitting his curves and he’s touching him everywhere and there’s fire in between them and they’re kissing. They kiss like the end of the world and the beginning. They tumble and they’re not coming up.

⚰️ death: Small Bones of Courage // 15k, E. small bones small bones my love my baby! i'm not normal about this fic. what writing -- but it is Death, front and center.

Sirius insides tug reluctantly, but he nods. The eternal serpent in his blood rears up and strikes violently at his spirit for rolling over like this, letting the dark creature have its way, losing the only battle worth fighting—infused with the unique strength of resignation, Sirius does the bravest thing he’s done in years and simply ignores the venom. “Alright,” he sighs. Alright, alright, alright. So much of Sirius’ time has been spent convincing himself of that vapid untruth. He thinks fondly of the time that he has now—precious little, but time nonetheless—to spend on enjoying what’s left of Remus’ existence instead of pretending that hell has frozen over.

summary: Sirius meets Remus unexpectedly, in somebody else's body. Nobody trusts anybody.

"You won't be here when I wake, will you?" "No," Sirius says, and he suddenly knows it's true. This is Remus' dream, and he was lucky enough to be a part of it, but his time is running out as surely as sand slips through an hourglass. "No, I won't." He kisses Remus' forehead. Remus nods, very still in Sirius' arms. He closes his eyes. "Remus," Sirius whispers. "Will you do me one favor? Please?"
