as someone whose ocd has judged my work based on a 1:10 ratio since i STARTED using ao3, it is a tad horrifying to see other people having the mindset i thought was just my ocd, yet it is simultaneously rather relieving to see that most people reject it
Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?

Game studios and fans babyfying game protagonists is so disappointing.
Like, look me in the face and tell me that this man (created by CDPR themselves) is 23 years old instead of 28 (wrinkles and obvious graying of his temples are not enough, you think?).
And then fandom joins in, takes someone like this and decides he's 18 (and they get really angry when you point at his wrinkles and receding hairline and say he was made to look like a 30+ year old dude):
What I'm saying is that we need more game protagonists in their thirties, forties, fifties.
We need games about mature people making friends and stupid mistakes, being badass and being dumb, finding love, changing their lives and the world around them. And we need fans and fandoms that embrace that.
Basically, we need more Disco Elysium.

Every time I see someone cite tweets by David "We don't make games for f*gs" Cage as proof that hankcon shouldn't be a thing, I cringe so hard it hurts.
Just blatantly confessing that you find the idea of older men having sex repulsive or using the good old "but he calls him son!" argument is less bad. Literally ANYTHING is less bad than admitting that you value the opinion of this garbage of a person.
