I’m late, but I really hate the one where Dolores is the villain and the one where Alma forced Pepa to have Antonio.
I think there is a trend within the fandom, and really, just anyone who‘a familiar with the movie, to villainize every Madrigal possible and I don’t like it.

I could write an essay about how Mirabel and Isabela are actually really similar in personality, and how they could have actually gotten along really well, had it not been for their generational trauma.

I just want an episode with Isabela and Mirabel bonding. I think their relationship has potential, but I imagine they still have some stuff to work through outside of the song.
Also, an episode with Bruno / Pepa bonding because they also have a lot of trauma to work through. I think having it be the B plot to Mirabel & Isabela’s episode would be great, because there are SO MANY parallels between their relationships.
I’d also love to see an episode of Isabela bonding with her parents. Same with Luisa.
Flashbacks of Agustin/Julieta and Pepa/Felix’s love story.
A few Camilo centric episodes, because I feel like he’s the family member I know the least about?
I’d love the first episode to be about them rebuilding Casita.

Yeah, he has been popular in theater spaces since 2008, he even performed at the White House in 2009. His popularity really started to skyrocket in 2015 with Hamilton.
While I agree they should bring back Lin Manuel Miranda for Moana 2, I saw a post trying to argue that Moana made him popular and “jump started his career” it’s like…
I get not everyone is musically invested in theater, but Hamilton was popular in non-theater spaces before Moana came out… and even before then, he was very active in theater spaces, and had already won multiple Tony’s, an Emmy, multiple Grammys, had been nominated for more of these awards… before Moana.
I love Moana, but he did a lot more for the Moana soundtrack than the Moana soundtrack did for him.

Yes, let’s put beauty standards onto children- nothing harmful about that! These are two 15 year old girls.
Jasmine is a pretty character, but I’ve worked at a daycare for two years. I’ve been to Disney on Ice twice, and Disney World twice since the movie came out. There are a lot more little girls dressing up as Mirabel than Jasmine.
Do I think it’s because they find one prettier than the other? Probably not. But it’s really interesting how some adults can be so much shallower than grown ass adults, because wtf do you mean you hated the movie because the characters (alot of which were children) were “unattractive?”

Mirabel is the most beautiful girl I saw everyone, leave her alone 😭

They didn’t hesitate in giving Frozen attention when it became popular, making shorts, making sequels, now apparently they’re making more sequels, but Encanto? Nope. Silence.
Hell, even Moana… I have heard there’s supposedly supposed to be a tv show, but even that took eight fucking years (the first Frozen short released less than two years after the movie).
And before anyone comes at me, this isn’t a diss towards Frozen. I also get that Frozen was extremely popular at the time… but I do think that if Disney spent half that energy on other popular movies, especially movies led by women of color, they would be pleasantly surprised at how much love these things would get.

I think the tragedy of Wish is that according to everything we got in terms of concept art, is that it could have been great. The issue is Disney chose marketing over story (at least that’s what I got).
We could have had our first female protagonist in over a decade with a love interest. We could have a villain duo. It could have been everything everyone loves about all eras of Disney.
But they didn’t… and it just felt so cheap.

Umm… no it’s not if you’re not an absolute piece of shit wtf?
It’s also not like Bruno didn’t choose his path. He did, because unlike Mirabel, he was a grown adult, and Mirabel just had to stick around and endure the same shit he went through.
You can empathize with Bruno, but he absolutely could have come out at any time, or left and started a new life, but he didn’t, because he cared about his family, in the same way that Mirabel cared about her family.
Bruno was traumatized, and handled his trauma in the same way as everyone else, but that doesn’t make him any more traumatized than anyone else.
Shit like this makes me so mad like
even without the context of the movie imagine admitting you have 0 empathy for someone’s struggles because someone always has it worse. What a terrible fucking mindset. How about having empathy for both shitty situations? like is it not possible to care about more than one thing?

I saw a TikTok a few months ago, that if you dislike any of the characters from Encanto, it could represent pain you haven’t healed from.
For example:
~ If you hate Isabela, you’re probably a scapegoat in a family with a golden child who hasn’t healed the same way Mirabel was able to.
~ If you hate Abuela, or think she didn’t deserve forgiveness, you’re probably in a situation where you aren’t ready to forgive a family member.
~ If you hate Mirabel, you are probably in denial about a lot of the trauma you or your family is going through.
Of course this isn’t the same for everyone. But I do find that it has been the case in a lot of situations.
