I had this song pop up on an auto-generated Spotify playlist last week and thought, "wow, this sounds a lot like My Chemical Romance; I wonder if this was some obscure pop punk/emo band circa 2005 that I just never heard about."
Nope, just came out last month, February of 2024!

My company's IT team just circulated a kind of "success story" email showing an actual phishing attempt targeting us that was thwarted. The source email from the phisher looked pretty polished and professional, but what gets me is that they had He/His pronouns in the signature, so I'm just sitting here thinking:
Diversity win! This cyber criminal is adhering to our DEI guidelines!

I can't find a good article covering this in English, but basically a supermarket chain in Germany called Tegut rolled out these new automated locations that are cashless and don't have employees. These locations were open on Sundays, when most other business in the country are closed, but a Hessian court recently ordered them to close these locations on Sundays as well, even though there are no workers being forced to work.
Maybe I'm just too American to tolerate this kind of inconvenience, but I would riot.

Changing a recipe for a popular brand is always a risky move, potentially upsetting die-hard consumers and casting negative publicity on the product. Few are as well-known as the launch of New Coke in the 1980s by Coca-Cola.  But Mondelēz is confident that altering the ingredient mix slightly for its 61-year-old classic chocolate chip cookie will resonate with consumers. A higher cocoa and Madagascar vanilla extract content is likely to result in a richer cookie that will generate buzz, especially among younger individuals. It also will help Chips Ahoy! stand out in the crowded sweets space, crucial with consumers snacking more than ever and having more choices available when they do.
Not to be a brand whore on main but I fucking love original Chips Ahoy (fuck outta here with those chewy ones in the red packaging), and I'm actually apprehensive about this.

My local Guitar Center was having a used gear trade-in event today, so I dropped off an old electric Ibanez and a Cordoba ukulele I didn't really play anymore. Trade-in value was barebones, as expected, but I still feel better putting them back into the market rather than just throwing them out in the garbage.
What gets me though is that I was expecting store credit or something electronic, but they gave me actual physical cash. You guys remember cash?! And part of it was a $100 bill that no one's gonna wanna break, so now I have to go to a bank and remember how to deposit cash into my checking account, something I haven't done in probably over a decade.

I really enjoy how every so often complete strangers on GoodReads will like a particular one-star review I gave to a book almost two years ago. Hate wins 🫂

I still keep in touch (through other platforms) with people I originally met on here but who are no longer active. It tickles me to say "we went to [tumblr] together" like it was school, except I've been here since 2009, and I'm still here, so that makes it sound like I've been held back for 11 years. Which is so ridiculous that it comes back around to being funny again.

A frequent flyer rewards program I have an account with also has a website where you can take marketing/advertising surveys to earn free miles/points. Kind of a mindless way to pass the time, but I fail the preliminary screening process 9 times out of 10 and get a "Sorry! We don't think you're a good fit for this survey!" message, and these seem to be the most common reasons:
I don't have a Facebook or Tiktok account
I don't watch any television or movies, and don't have any subscriptions to streaming services
I don't watch any sports, pay for a gym membership, or drink alcohol
I don't use food delivery services or ride-share services like Uber
I don't buy my groceries online
I handle all my own investing and refuse to use a financial advisor
I am not a C-level executive at the company I work at
I don't have kids
