I love roses. I love animals. I love people. I love God. I always see rainbows and double rainbows for some reason. you can call me 'Michi' by the way
I luv disney movies based on hispanic countries lol
I've realized that Bruno is a mix betweenJuleita an Pepa in many many ways. First off, his clothing is green, Julieta's family wears cold colors: Blue, purple and white. Pepa's family wears warm colors:orange, red cream. Green is a mix between both (I know y'all already know this but that's not it.)
I think he is also a mix between them in terms of appeareance; He has light skin, but it is not as pale as Pepa's, and not as brown as Julieta's. He also has green eyes that appear brown yet they're green, Pepa's eyes are green and are more visible, while Julieta's are obviously brown.
It's just something I noticed, maybe I thinking way too much but it's still its fun to think bout it ;v lol
“I think Mirabel is bisexual because her dress has the bi pride flag in the details”
NO. It is a traditional dress from my country, specifically from Velez, town in the state of Santander and their costumes usually are that way (colorful with lots of patterns which are very meaningful for the community)
As you can see, you can assume the girls have swen in their dresses a lot of patterns. One even looks like the lgtbi pride flag. But is something normal to mix a lot of patterns, doesn’t mean they represent the community. Also, Velez dresses tend to tell a story in their engravings (that’s why they are so hard to do and prestigious). And considering Mirabel first song and function in the movie is to talk about the story of the Madrigals, her dress represents her family history.
Please respect my culture. You can have your headcanons because it’s fun! Just, respect our traditions like Mirabel’s outfit palette and inspiration.
Abuela had to watch the love of her life die in front of her very own eyes with her new-born three babies in her arms and later on pretty much emotionally abuses her whole family (not her intentions, of course)
Julieta has to be cooking like maybe 20 meals a day to heal all people and always trying to check on Mirabel to see if she's happy.
Pepa has clear anxiety issues.
Bruno... well, was pretty much treated like some sort of alien.
Agustín feels like an outsider plus hurting when he sees his daughters hurting and unhappy.
Felíx trying to calm his wife down.
Isabela trying so hard to be perfect and having to marry a man she doesn't love.
Dolores hears everything and has to deal seeing her cousin getting engaged to the man she loves.
Luisa... needs therapy (I mean they all do but come on.)
Camilo has identity crisis.
Mirabel feels left out and it doesn't help the fact that her own grandmother treated her like a burden to her family.
Antonio kinda stressed to be treated the same way Mirabel is treated and then is living the good life at the end.
This is probably the only Disney movie that has embraced generational trauma and serious family struggles so hard I just...
I really like the idea of Bruno bonding with Felíx and Agustín before they married his sisters. Like if they could have met when they were kids. (It's a kind of small town do it's possible if they were born there) :>
Why is everybody saying Bruno appears in the background when Dolores sings in 'We Don't Talk about Bruno'? Like, isn't that Camilo? Like right after Dolores' verse then Camilo starts singing.
I'm thinking more and more about Encanto and I realized... there were two characters In the movie I could literally see myself in. First off, is Isabela, who is who I relate to the most; just like her, I'm the oldest of three daughters, (also I find it funny that I look like Isabela, my younger sister kinda looks like Luisa and my youngest sister looks like Mirabel xD) but, especially from my mom's side of the family, I've always had this pressure of being the perfect girl, of setting the example for my youngest sisters. I know it will sound crazy, but this expectations mostly always came from my mom's mother. I'm like 11 and 12 years older than my two sisters. My mom used to go to work and left my abuela to take care of me, she loves me obviously, but she would always try to teach me how to be 'the educated child', she would take me to the catholic church, she would tell me how to style my hair, sometimes she would tell me how to talk, she even wanted me to study a certain career that she liked. Also o I love the fact that Isabela seems more like an artist, cause I love to draw and people say I'm really good at it, yet sometimes I would throw my drawings away because I didn't find them 'perfect' enough, and that's why I didn't realize how good I was at drawing until people started telling me so. On and on, I relate to Isabela SO MUCH. (Just clarification, my grandma ain't a bad person, she's actually really selfless, believe me, she's just a grandma xD)
I also kinda relate to Mirabel since I'm also sometimes seen as the 'weirdo' and kind of like the one who's not 'special' or 'perfect'. I could literally feel 'Waiting on a Miracle' I COULD FEEL IT.
… Still very tired, but still have Encanto thoughts.
Bruno’s excitement about Mirabel hugging Isabella. How badly has he wanted to hug his own sisters for years only he convinces himself he’ll never be able to.
While it ultimately may have helped in shocking her to awareness, Bruno ghosting probably did a number on Alma as well??? She watches her husband die, then years later not only does it look like their safety net is faltering, but then her son vanishes the same night. She doesn’t know where he is or if he’s even alive. That must have weighed on her extra and made her even more desperate to keep things the same.
Pepa, too. It might be me projecting, but I feel like Bruno’s the type to assume someone hates him forever after one fight and just never tries to fix it. I’m sure Pepa got mad about the wedding thing, and he responded by running away and avoiding her. Meanwhile, she’s got her own anxiety and the whole mood effecting the weather stuff to deal w/. Maybe after simmering for a while, she tried to rethink and bridge the gap, but Bruno was too convinced he’d ruined them forever to accept. Meanwhile, Pepa starts having kids, she’s also under pressure from their mother. Maybe she thought he didn’t want anything to do w/ her anymore. Then, he disappears. And for a woman who clearly has intense emotions, stress, and mood swings, and those moods cause actual physical damage/weather effects, who has young children, trying to manage her own family, also under pressure… What’s easier? Dealing w/ the overwhelming pain and fear of her younger twin brother having disappeared, not knowing where he is or if he’s even alive, w/ perhaps even the creeping guilt that it might be her fault for getting mad at him that time… Or simplifying the situation down to ‘well he ruined my wedding and caused bad things to happen.’ Was she upset about the wedding? Probably. But that in no way means she’d stop loving him. But considering the way her emotions cause storms, insisting even to herself that she’s more angry at him than terrified for/grieving him is easier. Less lingering. Less painful. That’s why, when he comes back, that fight doesn’t matter anymore. Bc in reality, it stopped mattering probably not terribly long after it happened, they were both just too socially awkward and stressed out by other things to fully communicate that. But after he disappeared, the anger was probably the only thing that helped her counter missing him or blaming herself. Provides a simple answer for the kids about why she gets so upset about hearing his name. Helps her keep it together enough to raise her children, deal w/ her mother. That’s why it’s her go to answer. Bc if she thinks about the good stuff, she might lose control.
On a lighter note, Felix’s face right at the start of that song. That its the face of a man who knows his wife is about to start talking. He’s already in position while she’s still shushing Mirabel. Also I just love Felix, his design and animations are a delight and his voice acting is perfect.
Mirabel singing about a ‘new foundation’ in the finale… She’s the new foundation. She’s Alma’s successor. Again, I understand why no one made the connection in universe, esp when the door vanished, but Alma doesn’t have any powers. And that makes sense, that the ‘pillar’ of the family wouldn’t have any, bc when you have magic, it’s consuming. Like that’s the whole point. She’s very different from Alma, yes. But we also see Alma getting involved w/ the work in the village, gift or not gift, she’s the one they turn to in concern. She’s basically the mayor, for lack of a better comparison. Everyone just got so focused on the magic powers, they forgot that. Mirabel’s connection to Casita just further convinces me of it. The house even tries to help her hide the vision that’s supposedly of its destruction.
Mirabel and Dolores having that stare down across the dinner table. Family energy.
For the character ask meme, maybe Mirabel?? Or Isabela. (:
i'll do mirabel !! :vD
First impression: when the designs were first revealed i actually couldnt help but feel inclined to like her before i learned anything else abt the movie bc she looked JUST like a best friend of mine to me. then she gained extra points for sounding like dt17 gosalyn and being the kind of optimistic Odd Man Out of the family (which is the vibe i got from the synopsis + trailers)
Impression now: I LOVE HER SO MUUUUCH SHES SUCH A GOOD PROTAGONIST !!!!! her kind of quirkiness and impulsiveness feels very natural and makes her super endearing right off the bat, its pretty much immediately established how caring she is and how much she loves her family (when she gave that pep talk to antonio i was just like. Weeping), i like that we as an audience see her problems & insecurities and root for her but we also get to learn about the internal conflicts of her family members likes luisa and isabel thru her like coming to understand them herself which again ends up making her feel like a really well rounded protagonist !!! and i love her glasses. i used to wear glasses with frames like those when i was 8
Favorite moment: WHEN SHE'S TALKING TO ALMA AND SHE STANDS UP FOR NOT ONLY HERSELF BUT HER TWO SISTERS AND IN FACT THE REST OF THE FAMILY !!!!!!!! augh also when she tells bruno she's gonna bring him home Q_Q also very little moment but when the kids in the beginning ask her what her gift is and she says "who's asking ? >:3" its hard to pick just One
Idea for a story: i hear the director at least wants to make an encanto series which would be great but considering how everyone in town knows the madrigals id love to see like a day in town for her !!! maybe she could make some friends her age that would be sweet
Unpopular opinion: if anyone thinks she should have gotten a gift at the end after all did you and i not watch the same movie. also i dont think she was "too quick" to forgive anybody isabela and alma included again Did We Watch The Same Movie
Favorite relationship: UGHH AGAIN SO HARD TO CHOOSE !!!! the scenes she has with her parents were literally so sweet like all the ones where they try to cheer her up (julieta insisting she healed her hand with Love For Her Daughter and agustin trying to relate to her with how he felt when he first joined the family) but i also really really loved her and bruno so much 🥺🥺🥺 bonding as the family "weirdos" getting along pretty much instantly both of them going to bat for the other in front of alma especially like... i really like their dynamic their scenes were so funny and entertaining and heartwarming
Favorite headcanon: the bi flag colors rainbow she has embroidered probably wasnt supposed to be an intentional thing but that wont stop me. mirabel bi now
