Mary has always liked boys, and boys had always liked her. It was enough. Enough until she tasted Marlene.
They were in their dorm when it happened, Lily and Dorcas were out. It was just the two of them.
Marlene was laughing at some stupid joke Mary said. Her laugh felt like a caress from the very sun.
Not even thinking about it, maybe instinctively acting, they both leaned in. When Mary brushed the blonde’s skin, soft and warm as only her’s, she felt different. They barely touched, and she felt starved. She wanted more. But this was new to her, and it was some scary shit.
As soon as they took their original positions, Mary blew out a breath she did not know she was holding. And then, she felt cold. Like something was missing, someone.
Ever since then, boys did not feel well anymore, not like Marlene did anyway. And she wanted her, oh how she wanted her. But she was afraid, too afraid she couldn’t even act like herself.
