i love when pets huff or sigh dramatically. like i am sorry. you're so right. you live such a laborious life. it must be so difficult to take naps and get pet and fed treats and played with all day. really a packed schedule youve got there boss. how do you manage it all. well no matter i'd say it's time for your well earned 7th afternoon nap

your parents can be toxic without being outright abusive.
tw: child abuse, toxic parenting
this is NOT to discredit abuse survivors. i do not want to tell anyone that what they went through is not abuse or that their parents weren't actually abusive. instead, this post is meant for those who aren't sure about whether or not to 'label' their parents as abusive or qualify what they went through as abuse.
abuse and trauma are not as black and white as it seems. obviously there are very blatant and obvious exceptions to that, but there are times when one's parents fall into the gray area. maybe they were mostly healthy and supportive, but had the occasional manipulative moment, were slightly emotional neglect, or failed in other ways. it can be so difficult for those who've gone through this to find that support and validation.
deeming one as an abuse survivor can feel extreme. maybe it feels like you don't really think you've endured enough to meet that qualification (but i encourage you to remember that you can drown just as well in two inches of water as you can in the ocean). it's okay to feel that dissonance in your own experience versus the label. you still deserve to have that validation and maybe find support from those who've gone through it too. that's why i think we need more acknowledgement of toxic parenting.
parents can be toxic. you can have survived toxic parenting. you can be traumatized by toxic parenting. it's not always so black and white. it can be gray.

honestly feeling like shit rn. i feel like i’ve fucked my life up so bad that i’ll never fully recover. i feel like i’ll never be enough for anyone. i’ll never achieve anything. there’s no benefit my life can bring to people. i know that’s not true. there are plenty of ways i help others. hell, i’ve had so many people tell me that this blog has helped them and that makes me happy. but my feelings don’t take that into account.

you can’t really understand psychosis until you’ve been through it. actually, you have to fully process and accept that you’ve been through it first. psychosis can be extremely traumatizing for the one experiencing it and people don’t understand that.

You Are Not Lazy
Executive dysfunction often looks like laziness from the outside. There's so much more to the story.
What It Looks Like: What It Really Is:
Lazy — Overstimulated
Distracted — Understimulated
Inconsiderate — Exhausted
Unmotivated. — Burntout
Irresponsible — Depressed
Stubborn — Anxious
Disorganized — Overwhelmed
Careless — Lacking Support
Impatient — Fear of Failure
Indifferent — Afraid to Ask Questions
Uncaring — Questions
Stupid — Trouble Getting Started
Rude — Uninterested
Thoughtless — Time Blindness
Inconsistent — Time Blindness
Unobservant — Uninterested
Absent Minded — Difficulty Switching Tasks

people forget that personality can change over time. you can be traumatized to the extent that the way you interact with others and view attachments is altered, even as an adult.
personality disorders is a misleading name in some ways as the disorder itself is more about the extreme maladaptive ways one copes with life and other people. as you experience more of life, it can push and pull you in opposite directions. we are constantly changing. there’s no way that person’s disordered traits won’t change alongside them.
