Product design of a case with interior component holders, covers and brackets. The design consisted of 4 sections - The bottom interior (in-situ), exterior panel, interior panel and the top panel. A basic understanding of interfaces, panel design, layout and logo customization was acknowledged prior to commencing on this project. The design is intended to house a dozen electronic and audio components and integrate their respective cabling/wiring. This was considered as a final product for making demonstrations of the aforementioned components and presentation thereof, convenient and accessible. The customized exterior logos and inner casings were 3dprinted and applied to the original case, post-design / post-production. Convex (bracket) cover parts. The client had a broken sample and was located 700km away. We requested a sample (broken) to be sent on the basis of an estimate quote. The part was redrawn within an hour, approved by the client via image preview of the drawing and loaded onto an available printer. Client received a copy of the model (with instructions on how to access it, visually) and received the parts as required, the day after the print was completed. Parametric design opens up possibilities in many avenues in terms of 3d modelling. Geometries that are influenced by variables, include depth, density, number of faces, smoothness, edges, height, the level of contouring, and these are just a few of the basic variables. With an alternative lense on the matter, parametric design is an uncontrollable chaotic beast (despite having controls) that is beautiful but must be made functional. A 3D model of a gearbox cover. The geometries include tapering, trapezoid features, screw holes, symmetry, rectangular outlays and is hollowed out, typical of most cover designs. This gear box in particular was for a Nissan, where parts nowadays are difficult to find. Importing units as such often forces businesses to buy in bulk or a complete set from the original supplier which is not financially or chronologically viable. Design is a universal language across all scales and 'techne' τέχνη, exchanges with all fields pertaining to the everyday living of anthropic existence. No matter how large or small an object of reality, design is interpreted as being cosmogenic, and the designer should be prepared for or at least welcome the notion of various design applications or scenarios. Design of a product should be curated specifically to its application, but the designer does not necessarily need to 'specialize', unless the design in question is quite specific and complex and requires further background information. Admittedly, such a simple fixture is 'dumbed down', as just another part required out of necessity, that breaks down frequently (design improvement is required but is limited at least in function). This part was designed (and partly reverse engineered in process) as part of a farming (grain) seeder, specifically a bracket in the measuring and distribution of fertilizers and seeds.
