SJC Chapter 2, "Be a filial child.", has just landed on the platform. Took me a little longer to finish it, but it was definitely worth losing sleep for.
The next thing I'm gonna post is Chapter 11 of CEO, sometime around the end of October. Now, I'm gonna go take my laptop for a lil check-up - let's hope it can be revived.

SJC Chapter 2 teaser
JingYi didn’t expect the scene that greeted him when he finally made his way inside.
There was a man with handsome features sitting on a single bed, back reclining on the wooden headboard. He wore pitch-black robes and tied his long hair with a ribbon in the shade of red complimenting the hems and subtle embroidery of his attire. His silhouette blended in with the shadows created by the dim lighting, which would’ve made him seem threatening but for the fond smile decorating his lips.
Or it might’ve been because he currently had an armful of a distraught and very much uncontrollably sobbing SiZhui, which he didn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, the man’s hand kept stroking SiZhui’s hair affectionately and he had been murmuring words of consolation to the boy constantly.
A pair of silver eyes met his brown ones as the man nodded, acknowledging JingYi’s presence, and only then did the boy realize what exactly the man had been saying the entire time, “Don’t cry A-Yuan, A-Die is here. A-Die is here.”
‘Wait, what?!’ JingYi’s brain short-circuted, because fuck earlier - now he was feeling like an extremely dumb person, ‘This is SiZhui’s father? Wasn’t that supposed to be HanGuang-Jun? But no wait, the paper-’
Suddenly remembering the piece of paper SiZhui had shoved into his chest before running off, JingYi scrambled to find it in a mess of things he kept in his qiankun sleeves. He was so dumbstruck by his friend’s strange reaction that he chucked it haphazardly into his robes, too shocked to think clearly and place it back with the rest of the records. He really fucking hoped nobody will notice the missing paper, nor that he didn’t lose it somewhere in the woods… But there it was!
He whipped his hand out of his sleeve triumphantly, having located the little slip. It got crinkled a bit, but was otherwise unscathed, thank heavens. JingYi smoothened the creases absentmindedly as his eyes scanned the text frantically once, twice… and for the third time… Until his brain kicked up a notch and he gaped comically, gazing back and forth between the strange man and the name written in neat penmanship, not quite believing the implication behind the characters.
‘There’s no way this can be…’ JingYi’s eyes turned to SiZhui again, who had now begun hiccupping from the tears, and that prompted his mind to make another connection, ‘My best friend’s father is the Yiling Patriarch, Wei WuXian?! What?! How is that even possible?!’

Hi.
So, remember when I said I've been working on a different fic in-between CEO? Just to keep myself going, when inspiration didn't strike for Haikyuu, I would write something else for a different Fandom, but never published it. With this one, I decided to fuck it, because I'm particularly proud of the prompt.
So... Any fans of MDZS here? The Untamed? If yes, and a family feels hurt/comfort fic is your thing, here's Songbird in a Jade Cage for you. Hope you like it~

Hey, look what I found! It's the sticky notes again 😂
Took me a while to actually find them, cause I left my flat in a Big Mess and then had a birthday party that turned it into an Even Bigger Mess, but hey, I managed in the end.
Also replied to the comments later than I wanted to, because I got much more sicko than I thought, so I decided to write 12 pages of another fic that I should probably not publish in the near future (watch me do it anyway)

Chapter 10, Calm Before the Storm, has just landed on the platform and we have finally, I repeat, FINALLY, breached 13k words for a single chapter! Hooray to the power of crack, cause that's what the majority of this chapter is. Gotta sweeten up the last one's ending somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Confidence in Each Other Chapter 10 sneak peek
‘Maybe a stuffed animal?’ Tooru mused, walking into a toy shop and looking around aimlessly, ‘Suga-chan did mention he has a small collection once.’
A splash of purple on one of the shelves caught the setter’s attention. Stepping closer, he was faced with a fluffy lilac cat plushie and he was absolutely sold.
“Are you sure you’re getting a present for a teammate?” Makoto shook his head in disbelief, “Cause this looks like something you would give to a girlfriend instead.”
“Oh, shut up!” Tooru sniped, picking up the toy and marvelling at how soft it was. “It reminds me of Suga-chan.”
He was instantly leveled with his brother’s signature deadpan stare, “How?! It’s fucking purple Tooru, not silver, did you forget to wear your contacts?”
The setter shrugged, “He likes purple.”
“Of course you’d know that,” Makoto let out a long-suffering sigh, as his brother skipped happily to the counter to buy the plushie. ‘You’re already so whipped Tooru, how can you not realize that?’
Over the summer, his Tooru Blackmail Folder expanded unimaginably, with the majority of the newest additions being just the photos of the two. Now, don’t get him wrong - Makoto had no interest in playing matchmaker, fully believing that feelings are something one should figure out at their own pace. But fuck if he didn’t want to bonk his brother on the head sometimes and let him know just how much of an oblivious idiot he was.
‘Maybe I should give him a little nudge though?’ he mused, as they made their way back to the car. ‘It definitely won’t hurt.’
Tooru was stroking the little purple cat absentmindedly, anxiously looking forward to gifting it to his friend. ‘Will he like it? I sure hope so - I wanna make Suga-chan smile at least for a moment.’
“Say, Tooru,” his brother’s voice broke him out of his thoughts. He inclined his head in interest, indicating that he was listening, so the other continued, “You have actually considered dating, right?”
The setter scrunched his nose in surprise, spluttering, “What the- what is that supposed to mean?”
“I’m just asking, jeez,” the older brother rolled his eyes, pulling to a stop at the crossroads. Rapping at the steering wheel in a nonsensical tune, he racked his brain for a way to word his inquiry without sounding awfully straightforward. Finally, he settled on the usual Oikawa-way of doing things - teasing, “I was just making sure your peanut brain had space for something other than volleyball.”

Nyom, at some point, probably: Makoto, nooo... Nyom's brain anyway: Makoto, yes!
Ha! Bet ya didn't expect me here now. I'll be honest with you - I was simultaniously so fucking delighted and apologetic seeing some of your reactions to the cliffhanger in the last chapter, that I wrote this newest one less than a week after Chapter 9 was published. Edition took longer Ig, cause work internships are a bitch, but I was adamant on releasing this one before I go on a trip next Monday, so me and my beta made sure to deliver.
And so, tune up for Chapter 10, Calm Before the Storm, coming out tomorrow at approximately 8p.m. CEST. Yes, the date is final. And with this chapter, we finally broke the magic number of 13k words. Woohoo~ See you guys tomorrow ;)

It's weird, but for some reason, writing flows more smoothly for me, when I'm traveling by the train. All I need is a cup of coffee, a seat by the window and my trusty Dell laptop to get in the zone 😂

I've updated a few tags when I was obsessively checking everything again for ao3-induced typos. And I somehow DIDN'T GIVE NISHINOYA HIS OWN TAG? WHAT IS THIS TRAVESTY? EVEN USHIJIMA GOT ONE, AND HE MADE AN APPEARANCE LIKE, 3 CHAPTERS AFTER NOYA DID?!
*cough* excuse my outburst, please carry on

Confidence in Each Other Chapter 9 Sneak Preview
It was just the beginning of lunch break, on this lovely November afternoon…
“Uhm, so you see… I-”
...when one Oikawa Tooru was stuck at the landing of the most out-of-the-way staircase Aoba Johsai high school had in stock, with a girl that just couldn’t confess to him already.
And it was the absolute most embarrassing moment of his life.
Don’t get him wrong, it’s not like this was the first time a classmate tried to profess their undying love towards his very self. On the contrary, plenty of girls kept coming to him during breaks ever since middle school, whether to ask him to meet up in some obscure corner of the campus, handing him love letters personally or dropping them inside his shoe locker. In fact, the number of times he opened his locker and a sea of pink envelopes engulfed him from head to toe was so frequent it was no longer laughable.
Problem was, those “obscure” spots the girls took to dragging him to, were never as secluded and private as they thought. More often than not, they ended up being behind a gymnasium hall, which left plenty of room for an audience of potential eavesdroppers to gather.
Which was exactly what was happening right now.
Tooru knew for a fact that Makki and Mattsun were listening in, all the happier to have this wonderful chance of gathering blackmail material that will last them for a field day (or a week, or a few weeks) of teasing him. He also knew that Iwa-chan, that blasted traitor, was with them too, simply because he and Tooru were together when the girl in question cornered him.
And so Iwa-chan, like the mother hen that he is, has gone with him, leaving them at a moderate distance that will ensure he could observe the two, making sure that the girl won’t do something like throwing Tooru down those stairs in brokenhearted fury or something. Talk about exaggeration.
“You see, I’ve been watching you for a while now…” the girl, whose name was Reiko-chan if Tooru recalled correctly, seemed to finally have gathered the courage to start talking. ‘Please don’t say anything weird, please don’t say anything weird,’ Tooru’s been praying internally, “a-and I really like how kind you are, how good you are at volleyball-,” ‘so far so good.’
Reiko-chan stopped for a second, biting her lip with a frown, as if fighting a battle with herself whether to say anything else or not. When it looked like she had paused for good, Tooru opened his mouth to utter a well-rehearsed response, but she suddenly blurted, “A-and you’re just so cute, like, when you’re flustered or the way your brows furrow when you’re deep in thought!”
...and thus, the final nail to Oikawa Tooru’s coffin has sealed it shut.

Running a little late on my promised deadline, but I decided to post this little snipped today, seeing as what's left to write of the chapter translates to pretty much a solid day of work. I can promise you that I will hurry my ass to finish at the speed of light and see if I can get my lovely and way-too-forgiving-of-my-shitty-demands beta to check it even faster. Until then, tune up for Chapter 9, Starving for Success, coming up in (hopefully) the next 24 hours (or at most 48, pinky swear). For those of you who forgot what happened in the previous chapter (I wouldn't be surprised, since I kept you guys waiting for so long), you can find it here -> Take One for the Team. So... I got stuck.
Second term in uni was a mess for me, I also had a few other exams that sucked my life force away together with my little writing slump.
Basically I got stuck on one scene for 2 months, then couldn't move on for another 2, then deleted the entire chapter and started working from square one.
Point is, I am alive and I'm positive the next chapter will arrive sometime around this coming weekend. I hope you'll forgive me for the long wait and that this chapter will be worthwhile.
I kinda removed myself from all social media for a while, because of how busy my life was and how shitty I felt about not being able to write, but rest assured that I'm okay and this fic will never be abandoned.
MasterOfNyom, over and out 😅
P. S. Are you guys watching the Olympics? Which sports? How is your country doing so far? I'm currently writing a nice POV change (there will be a few surprise ones in this coming chapter) while watching Poland VS France (volleyball of course) and I gotta say, it's getting intense, I'm loving it.

Confidence in Each Other Chapter 8 sneak preview
As much as he would’ve liked to just rage and act up on his frustration, Tooru was trying to restrain his murderous urges, not keen on exposing any kind of weakness to someone who was undoubtedly his greatest enemy. Or as close as it can get when it comes to highschool volleyball. Squashing down as much of the unbridled fury bubbling underneath the surface of his carefully sculpted mask of indifference, he bit back, “No need to go all modest now, we both know that by ‘players’, plural, the great Ushiwaka-sama means only himself.”
“That seems to be your own misconception,” Ushijima replied without missing a beat and Tooru felt a few veins on his forehead pop, in an entirely Iwa-chan-esque fashion. “Though I see nothing wrong in admitting one’s own strength.”
Tooru snorted, “It’s called being an asshole.”
“What’s wrong with being self-assured?”
This was going nowhere. Ushiwaka was his usual Ushiwaka-self and that meant that they could be at it for ages and still not reach whatever-the-point the spiker was trying to make. If he even had one.
And frankly, Tooru’s patience for that kind of thing has run out sometime during his third year of middle school so, without any more preamble, he leaned forward with the most disdainful expression and spat out, “Oh nothing really. Stay in that perfect little bubble of yours, I don’t care. Just get it through to that thick skull of yours that I have no intention of joining you there. I don’t need to bow to anyone to be the strongest.”
One blink. Two. Minute tilt of a head to the right, “Then how come you’ve yet to defeat me? There’s a clear contradiction here.”
Suddenly, Tooru’s at a loss for words. Ushijima was a man of many talents, it seemed: aside from being a nationally ranked spiker, undoubtedly the strongest in the prefecture, he was also unnervingly skilled at riling Tooru up. And, more often than the setter would like, hitting where it hurts. That one question, asked with an innocence so out-of-place it felt like being hit by a bullet train, spiked up all of Tooru’s insecurities and made them flare up in neon bright “DANGER! DANGER!” Cause really, why hadn’t he come out victorious even a single time? He was in perfect form, so much that even the press recognized it and wanted to interview him. ‘Only to talk about the “formidable opponent” he faced.’ The blockers didn’t really get a clear read on him. ‘Until late in the match.’ His serves were as sharp and accurate as usual. ‘Except those times when they ended up either outside the court or on libero’s hands.’ His tosses were on-point, perfectly suited for every spiker on their team…
Sensing Tooru’s internal turmoil, or maybe just making use of him not responding to add those few words that never fail to haunt him in his dreams, “You should’ve come to Shiratorizawa.”
‘Were they really?’
He thought about Mattsun, reading his tosses and squashing his and Iwa-chan’s strongest weapon like one would an irritating bug. Thought about Makki, fooling him with his emergency tosses like a magician diverting his attention from trickery in plain sight. About Suga-chan, picking up his serves one by one, like it was the easiest thing in the world…
“Tooru?”
***
Did I say 8 days? Scratch that, let’s make it now, shall we?
I low-key forgot how much work I can get done in one sitting if I actually make myself do something productive. Also, fuck studying eh?
That being said, Chapter 8, Take One for the Team, will come out in the next few days as I finish the absolute last scene (and see if I manage to top the whooping 11k from last time, cause it’s looking really like it might be the case :P ) and with it a whole bunch of angst that we are surely NOT prepared for.
Also, this chapter will be unbeta’ed as my friend is even more busy with exams than I am (I have half of mine already finished, she hasn’t even started) so we die like men because really, I just can’t wait to post and I’m sure you can’t wait for me to do so either ;)
Yours truly Master of Nyom, over and out!
