Disclaimer: I strongly support the Covid-19 vaccine. I will get a booster when it is available to me.
Please share.
After much internal debate, I decided to share my vaccine story in hopes of connecting with others who may be struggling with the same or similar side effects.
I received my first Pfizer shot on March 24, 2021 and had hives the next day. They resolved with Benadryl. I received my second shot on April 16, 2021 and have had hives every day since. Some days it’s a few or many and some days my entire body is covered including my face. They itch, they burn and they are miserable. With the heat making them worse, this has hands down been the worst summer of my life. I have seen 4 doctors, a dermatologist, an allergist and a hospital visit. I have had a lot of lab work and a biopsy. I have been on 14 different medications including antihistamines, steroids and injections. Many of these medications suppress the immune system. This is a scary treatment plan during a pandemic. Nothing has made them go away.
When I got the vaccine and had a hives reaction, my memory cells made a map of how to fight the virus and a map of my hives reaction. This tricked my body into thinking that I need to have hives all the time. There are no curative answers. I may have this for months, years or for the rest of my life. The cost of all this is into the thousands. The government has not been helpful to people with severe reactions. It’s very frustrating.
Do you or anyone you know have these types of symptoms? I’m really hoping to connect with others in this situation.
*This has been hard enough. Please spare me your anti-vaccine statements.
