Mad Town revealed to have driven themselves to schedules in rental cars + evicted from dorm
‘Dispatch’ has revealed inside information on Mad Town’s unfortunate story.
Mad Town never had good luck with labels. Two years after debuting, J.Tune Camp unofficially closed in 2016, leaving them without any label. J.Tune Camp then sold management of Mad Town to GNI Entertainment instead for a mere 30 million KRW (approximately 26,500 USD). However, GNI Entertainment’s CEO was arrested in March 2017 for fraud, dissipating GNI Entertainment and leaving Mad Town’s status up in the air.
While Jota was promoting as much as he could, he had to take care of rental cars himself, then pick up staff for hair and makeup. He had to make calls and manage schedule adjustments, and drive the staff around, by himself. He even paid for the staff costs (such as food and gas) with his own money. In June, Mad Town were evicted out of their dorm because the rent had not been paid by their label.
There are 800 victims of GNI Entertainment’s CEO’s fraud, and to make up for the money from the fraud case, the victims liquefied and took care of everything under GNI Entertainment - including Mad Town’s dorm. However, even more so, Mad Town belong to GNI Entertainment, meaning they now 'belong’ to the victims until the rest of their remaining contract, approximately 4 years, comes to an end.
Hopefully Mad Town can work out their contract cancellation and resume activities.
