I watched the show 'Static Shock' as a kid before I watched Superman the animated series. The Darcy and Toyman story line was concluded in a crossover with that show. I didn't have any context for who those characters, (Toyman and Darcy) were when I watched that Static Shock episode but at the time I thought I was following the plot just fine and the episode was okay to me.
When I went back to watch Superman the animated series for the first time and I saw that episode, 'Obsession' knowing what was going to happen to Darcy, that just,
It's a lot
"mad love" episode of all time... and with it + "obsession" in superman: the animated series it seems at the time they were really going for "chilling portrayals of domestic violence disguised with silly cartoonmen". of course, I've never seen anyone talk about "obsession".

My dad used to be a nightly Fox News watcher. (He's cut back a lot but he still turns it on from time to time) I'm so glad he doesn't use social media. It's insufferable to listen to him when he starts raving about politics and I've learned to keep a lot of my leftists views to myself because I find any kind of political debate too stressful because of him.
However he doesn't practice anything he preaches. He hasn't voted conservative in over 10 years. He cannot pass by any unhoused person on the street without handing them a 20$ and telling them something like "Hey take care, guy." He's gone on about how he doesn't understand any of this lgbt stuff and that learning it is a chore but he will absolutely respect your pronouns no matter what and make sure you feel welcome.
He'll say some awful stuff in the privacy of his own home but he doesn't have it in him to be unkind IRL
my dad is so funny because if you actually asked him point blank if he's an ally i dont think he'd know how to respond but like a year ago he was talking about when he used to sell houses in the 90s and he was like "yeah we had a gay couple come in and i had to tell one of my coworkers to stop being rude to them. then they invited me to their housewarming party, i dont know why. after that i had a bunch of gay couples come in and specifically ask for me, isnt that weird?" and he legitimately had never connected the dots

Ever since I saw the 1970's Pete's dragon as a kid I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper. Not one that lives in scary isolation that slowly drives me to madness but a lighthouse by a fun fishing village, where I ride my bike into town and say hello to all the whimsical singing drunkards in the local pub, and also there's a kindly dragon that lives in the nearest seaside cave.
Why can't that be my job, dammit
If you're in the need for some kind of magical artifact of magic for your setting, consider Fresnel Lenses which are used in lighthouses:

The sign of high quality is the fact the book was banned by the government. Trash literature NEVER EVER had any troubles with the law.

What's better than a big dude, little dude, combo? They're just here to vibe, share inside jokes and grab a handful of snacks before they head out to accidentally walk head first into shenanigans.
I'll tell what's better, NOTHING

I like to imagine that after Jon is born Clark always ends the day by putting his arm around his wife in bed, resting his head on his pillow, and using his his X ray vision to peak into their son's room to make sure he's peacefully asleep in his own bed before closing his eyes for the night.
*night when Clark is already practically half asleep from an exhausting day, settles into bed and and looks over into Jon's room
Clark: "GASP- wait, it's okay. I remember he's at a sleep over tonight."
*Clark uses his supervision to see that his son is safe and sound in his friend's house further down the street.
i saw you write for Superman. what do you think his night time routine is like? what does he do, eat, wear?
First, thank you for the request! I rarely get requests for any of the guys I write for other than Johnny Slaughter so it's fun to get to think about the other boys I like. ❤️

Superman has two routines: before Lois and after Lois. I'll abbreviate them BL and AL and give answers for both since they differ greatly.
Sleep-
BL: Superman rarely sleeps for more than four hours. There is always someone in need of help, and he feels responsible for helping as much as possible.
AL: He tries to stay asleep longer so he can spend more of the night holding Lois close. There is nothing more that he loves than simply having her in his arms. He tells her early on that he feels guilty about this, but Lois reassures him that even the world's greatest hero deserves a night in his woman's arms after a hard day of saving the world. And it's true—he does feel more capable after a good dose of cuddles.
What does he eat before bed-
BL: Dinner is usually takeout from whichever country he happens to be in at the time. Sometimes he likes to pretend to drive an invisible car through the drive-thru.
AL: Lois makes sure he eats a good meal before bed, always with protein like chicken or steak and vegetables. Occasionally, she will bake him an apple pie, just like Ma used to make.
What does he wear to bed-
BL & AL: This doesn't change whether Lois is around or not, he has a few sets of pajamas from Ma and even a cute little nightcap. He also sometimes wears t-shirts and boxers to bed, but it all depends on what he has available.
What does he do before bed-
BL: he always spends the final minutes before bed just outside of the Earth's atmosphere listening out for anyone in dire trouble. Sometimes this ends up with him out all night, but he will forgo sleep to help others any time. If no one is in dire straits, he comes back down to Earth, drinks a glass of milk, reads the newspaper, gets dressed in his PJs, brushes his teeth, and then tries his best to block out the sights and sounds of the outside world so he can rest.
AL: As BL, he still spends the final minutes before bed listening for people in need. But unlike before, he always tries to get home to Lois so she doesn't worry about him all night. He will often come home late to find her asleep on the couch, and carry her to bed gently. With Lois they spend their night time routine together, and of course it's a lot more fun getting to talk about their days in each other's company. With Lois, once he curls up in bed with her, the rest of the world falls silent. There is no other place in the entire world where he can feel as much peace as he does with her in his arms.

I love when they've captured the Mad Hatter and Clark flashes his usual smile for when the day is saved and no harm is done, and the Mad Hatter upon seeing who he thinks is batman smiling looks like he's crapping his pants in terror and Clark suddenly remembers, "Oh right, Batman's not supposed to smile."
clark and timmy todd's team-up in "knight time" is quite fun! especially the bits where clark uses his powers while disguised as batman (immitating timmy's voice to freak him out, sneakily using his powers in fights with timmy going "he's being working out ^-^"). clark was CLEARLY enjoying himself in this team-up lol.
also
timmy (pointing at a video): see what I mean about [bruce] acting strange?? clarke: timmy: he's SMILING.
classic.

Toast with honey and sliced bananas on top. A close second is cornflakes with frozen berries mixed in. Always with a hot mug of green tea
If I ask nicely will people reblog this and tell me what their most common breakfast is? Not your favorite necessarily, just what you have for breakfast most frequently? 🙏🏽

Hey, amidst the chaos of... everything on the internet, pay attention to Hawaii/Hawai'i!
There have been plans from a non Hawaiian organisation to build a 5 acre parking lot, 13 lot subdivision and a comfort station for tourists on the ridge of the sacred Pololū Valley!
This project doesn't acknowledge Pololū Valley as a wahi pāna (a celebrated and storied place in the cultural traditions of Hawaii/Hawai'i) and instead treats it as just plain land that can be sold to a highest bidder.
Pololū Valley is anything but that.
So please sign the petition to stop this project! As of writing this, 883,470 people have, but we need more!
Petition to protect Pololū Valley
Reblog to reach more people, please! Don't just like and move on, sign the petition and make sure more people see this!

I know there are people out there who genuinely felt empowered by this archetype and to each their own. I get the sense that the writers WANTED any girl audience members who watched a female character take on so many important tasks to FEEL empowered, like "Look how smart, strong and tough she is."
but growing up I always HATED the 'Responsible girl' archetype. The boys got to have fun, and be spontaneous, while the girl of the group had to take on the burdens and that sucked. Even more so she was often made fun of for being a 'stick in the mud' taking on all the tasks that the boys of the group used their weaponized incompetence to get out of doing.
And on top of that, you'd think someone who does all the important tasks of keeping the group on track would be 'Team leader' but nope. That role had to go to the "Cool" main character who who'd just coast by with luck and instincts. How shitty is that?
And what's worse, is that you'd get misogynists ass holes in the fandom complaining about how much it pisses them off that "the girls are presented as so much smarter than the boys", as though anyone ASKED for their female representation to be joyless, stick in the mud, mommies to boys their own age.
this has been discussed before but reducing female characters to the girlboss braincell holder in the name of combating misogyny in fandom is ironically also a form of misogyny

@somthing-lavender Thanks!
Are there any comics that take place during the time when Lois Lane was pregnant? It doesn't have to be apart of the main plot, just some stories that happen to take place during that particular time period in Clark and Lois's relationship. I know she's pregnant for a little while in Injustice before things get sad but I was thinking of something more fun.
Like imagine Clark going a little overboard making sure his wife is safe and comfortable, sometimes to Lois's annoyance.
He hears the baby kicking miles away and quickly races home in time to be able to feel.
He's handing a villain over to police custody
Superman: "When will you learn that crime doesn't-"
*pauses, suddenly looks up like a dog who just saw a squirrel, thinks to himself "Is Lois going into labor?... No, false alarm."
Superman: "- Pay!"
Also Lois wouldn't let being pregnant slow her down one bit.
*Lois and Jimmy are looking over a disaster sight.
Lois: "I think I'm gonna be sick."
Jimmy: "It is pretty gruesome isn't it?"
Lois: "No, it's just morning sickness."
Or imagine if Lois was caught snooping as she does and was discovered by a security officer.
Officer: "What are you doing here?"
Lois: "Uhh... OH NO, I'M GOING INTO LABOR! QUICK GET HELP!"
*Officer runs off to call an ambulance while Lois continues her snooping.

So yellow solar radiation gives Kryptonians extraordinary powers and red solar radiation puts them on par power wise as an average human, but they still evolved to gain nutrients from sunlight wherever they are right? Even if the red sun didn't give them super abilities, it was giving them the needed vitamins to live. As such food, water, regular sleep, regular exercise, etc, I imagine those things were more optional for them. We know they CAN eat and sleep. Clark does it whenever he wants, so clearly they have all the necessary organs, it's just that it's not needed to thrive and survive.
That must mean that they had a very different relationship with food, drink, sleep, and exercise than we do.
That kinda fascinates me.
Do you think eating and drinking in general was like some kind of treat for them? Like they only consumed food at special occasions? What would their recipes be like if they never needed to worry about nutritional intake?
What about sleep or exercise? Were those just hobbies? Maybe some Kryptonians were born with a disability that made absorbing sunlight more difficult for them and they needed to supplement consuming food and drink, sleeping, or exercise.
I dunno, It just kinda fascinates me what kind of culture would spring up among a people for whom, sleeping, eating, drinking, and exercise was a choice they could opt into or out of instead of it being necessary.

Y'know what I love in fiction? When a character is made to wear something not ideal for the situation, but fuck it, adventures are happening right now and it's gonna be a while before anyone can change outfits.
Woken up in the middle of the night by an emergency? I'm saving the day in pajamas I guess.
Villain has kidnapped me and forced me into a pretty dress? This is now my kidnapper strangling outfit.
Have to knock out a lackey, steal their clothes as a disguise while leaving them tied up in their underpants in a broom closet? Oh no I've been caught! Oh well! Not my personal style but I'm gonna be lookin hella fly while I'm blasting my way outta here.
