My trip to a heritage hotel in Mussoorie, Uttrakhand

Mussoorie, Uttrakhand is a destination that I am used to visiting with my family every now and then. This year again we were planning a trip to Mussoorie, but it was slightly different, I had thought that I would stay in one of the best hotels in Mussoorie or I’ll not go on the trip.

After a few hours of search I finally made a list of the best hotels in Mussoorie. Now was the time to pick the most visited and high rated hotel. This took much less time, as I had just 5 hotels in my list. I was ready with my answer now; I had finally found one of the best hotels in Mussoorie. It is WelcomHeritage Kasmanda Palace.

WelcomHeritage is an arm of ITC that converts old properties into assets, that is, hotels. This got me thinking about Kasmanda Palace, and I found that it was one of the oldest buildings of Mussoorie. It was built in 1836 by Captain Rennie Tailour of the Bengal Engineers and in 1915, it became the summer retreat of the royal family of Kasmanda.

When I got to know about its history, it was clear to me why it is one of the best hotels in Mussoorie. So, we booked 2 rooms one was Royal Room and the other was Garden Villa Room. As soon as I entered the room, it felt like it was altogether a different era. There was old architecture and design on the walls. The furniture also seemed from the period when Maharajas used to live. Certainly even if you don’t stay here, watching the room was a delight in itself. Although the room was from the royal era; but it was fitted with all modern amenities and technologies to make one feel comfortable.

We wanted to roam in the hill station as well, but the hotel had a certain charm that was binding us there. Why would it not, this was one of the best hotels in Mussoorie. When we left in the evening for city tour, we realised that the hotel was near the mall road, and still the environment of Kasmanda palace was noiseless and pleaceful.

I am glad I searched for best hotels in Mussoorie and found WelcomHeritage Kasmanda palace.
