When I first joined the DID community
Here’s what I didn’t know/understand/realise:
- my inner world shouldn’t be my main focus as I was escaping my reality
- I was an alter too
- Integration means to integrate trauma memories and not necessarily “get rid” of alters - it’s part of healing and it’s a choice for someone to make
- my alters didn’t need to ensure they were “completely different” from one another to be valid (that includes text dialect and likes/dislikes)
- Ollie didn’t need to use “Little speak” in order to fit in as a child part
- it’s okay to say “I don’t know why/how that happens but it does for me”
- it’s okay to not know an answer about the disorder/yourself - we are all learning
- I shouldn’t feel pressured into revealing my trauma history
- it’s okay to have realisations after you’ve announced different thoughts about what might be going on
I met someone recently who was starting out on their journey of allowing themselves to accept their DID and it brought back so many memories of all the little things that used to make me feel I had a set standard to live up to/that I was wrong for not understanding how it all worked and my focus may be in the wrong direction
Please don’t mock others and their experiences or shoot them down - instead, if you feel you need to give advice, please educate gently 💕 take into account this realisation might be a difficult thing to swallow and that it’s certainly a natural response for someone to get defensive when they’ve held a belief or concept for so long, or if they have a lack of understanding about the mechanics of it all - or you know what, even if someone says “I hear you, but this is what I feel is happening to me right now” that’s okay too! It can take time and sometimes it’s difficult to self reflect
No one has all the answers and we are all on a journey to heal 😊 let’s heal and work together!
No one should be expected to know everything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s okay to get things muddled/wrong

DONT!!! POST!!! AND TALK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN TELL WHOS “FAKING” THEIR DID!!
Let me explain.
Yeah, some people do fake DID and that’s not cool. But, for you, to post TO AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY where a lot of people have been abused by terrible individuals who have MADE them question themselves their whole lives, is not cool either. Because now, you’ve got a whole lot of scared DID/OSDD systems freaking out about their validity. They’re not sure WHO you’re taking about, and to an abused person, their mind easily thinks your talking about them. Just. Don’t. Fucking. Do. It.
And how can you tell “fakers” from non fakers anyway? Unless, they’re some type of endogenic “system” I don’t think you have the fucking right to judge anyone on how their system presents themselves.
Every system is unique and has their own experiences. No two cases of DID are the same.
No humans in your system? I know people professionally diagnosed that have no humans in their system.
Don’t switch for days? Months? Years? Fine. You’re valid.
Switchy all the time? Still fine.
Everyone in your system is overly overt and different from each other? Cool too.
Everyone is about the same? Its okay, whatever you needed to survive as a child.
Lots of fictives? Quite alright. I know systems with almost all fictives.
No fictives? I’m practically throwing validation at you now.
My point is, it’s not your place (not to mention any of your business) to judge another system with how they present themselves. All your doing is causing a lot of validity issues and anxiety within the community (as if we don’t already deal with that enough). Just please take the time to consider what you post when talking to a group of people who have been manipulated and abused their whole life. Thank you.

real talk but even ppl who know you real well might not notice when an alter is out unless explicitly told that the alter is out.
like when i transitioned to host, no one noticed. i behaved completely differently, became repulsed by contact, stopped doing activities the previous host did, changed my major in college, and started hanging out with different people and ppl just thought i was “going through a thing”
whenever karters out, people just comment that im “really funny today” or that im moody or something. theres a handful of people who can tell mine and karters typing and tone apart online and my therapist can tell theres a body language difference but thats only because shes looking for it
when alec is out people just say im being rude or moody or a smart ass. no one thinks anything of it and just steers clear because they assume im just pissy about something.
when kids are out we get comments like “why cant you just act your age” or “maybe you should lie down, you seem overwhelmed” but no one thinks like Oh A Dissociated Self State With The Emotional Awareness Of A Child Is Controlling This Person’s Body because thats just. not what people think.
idk don’t expect ppl tell alters apart without guidance. dont expect people to recognize you from another alter without help. and if you dont want to be outed or noticed, just don’t mention it, and people probably wont notice. obviously there are alters that people struggle to rationalize but ppl will go to great lengths to explain away odd behavior tbh don’t stress it.
edit: and im not saying ppl cant notice. lots of ppl CAN tell but not right away. its more just. have realistic expectations for ppl in your life.

Your daily reminder that traumatised brains are literally physically different to a normal brain. Repeated trauma and abuse has a severe, long-term effect.
If you have difficulty maintaining social bonds, concentrating, sleeping, focusing, or regulating your emotions, it’s because you’re traumatised. If you’re not happy with yourself, if you worry you’re a burden, you’re toxic, that you don’t matter, it’s because you’re traumatised. If you struggle to make it out of bed, think straight, get motivated or distracted, it’s because you’re traumatised.
Have you ever been told you’re too dramatic, or emotional? Has anyone wondered why you trust no one? Why you analyse every person’s smallest behaviour? Why you’re paranoid of the most minor signs of history repeating itself? It’s because you’re traumatised.
And it is NOT your fault.

A Singlet’s Guide to DID/OSDD
This post is written from the perspective of an Singlet, and is made with the intention of sharing the dos-and-don’ts of interacting with systems.
A lot of people don’t know about DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and can we really blame them? I mean, unless you study psychology or have a friend with DID/OSDD your most likely sources of information is going to be movies, shows, or an article for “Top 10 Strange Mental Illnesses That Actually Exist” that happened to show up on your news-feed.
Not only that, but when we do find a source that has some good information they don’t actually call it DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder); instead, they call it by it’s old-name like we still live in the 90s. Like come on at least address it properly, it’s been out as a dissociative disorder for 26 years!
Anyways, all jokes aside, here is a list of what singlets should know about DID/OSDD and interactive with those that have it:
It isn’t called MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).
It isn’t called having a split personality either.
It isn’t a personality disorder at all and please, stop saying it is.
No, you don’t have “multiple personalities” just because you act different around different people. Also, your jokes aren’t funny.
No, you don’t have a “split personality” because you attacked your ‘friend’ once or blacked out from anger. 
A collective of alters is called a system.
It isn’t like the movie split, stop asking.
Also, stop asking if someone’s alters are dangerous. 
No, they’re not going to hurt you and are actually more likely to hurt themselves because of the nature (and cause) of the disorder. 
Not all systems can decide when they switch with their alters, and even if they can, it isn’t for your entertainment.
That means, don’t ask if they can switch to ‘prove’ anything.
Also, don’t ask about a system’s trauma and abuse. It isn’t cool to ask a singlet that is an abuse survivor that, so don’t ask a system.
You don’t have a right to their personal information.
You aren’t entitled to this information just because an alter decided to share their memories with you. Also, not all alters will share. 
Just, don’t assume an alter owes you anything. Period.
Just because one alter likes you, doesn’t mean they all do.
Don’t get angry if an alter you’re friend’s with can’t front at the moment. Your friend isn’t the only one that exists.
You should try to get to know all the alters, not just one.
There are different kinds of alters, including littles, fictional introjects (fictives), factional introjects (factives), and non-human alters.
Littles are child alters, and are actual children. 
They are not adults pretending to be kids.
They are in no way associated with ddlg/clg/cgl-re.
If you wouldn’t do it to a kid, don’t do it to a child alter.
Fictives aren’t actually the character they’re based off of, and should be treated as real people, rather then part of their source.
They aren’t created just because someone really likes a character, and a lot of the times, isn’t even the host’s favorite.
If you start gushing over how they’re your favorite character, stop. I can tell you that you’re just going to make them uncomfortable.
A dissociative system cannot occur naturally. 
It is not related to a spiritual experience and is trauma-based.
If you’ve spoken to an endogenic (natural/spiritual) system, don’t assume that a DID/OSDD system functions the same.
If you’ve spoken to another dissociative system before, don’t assume the next DID/OSDD system you talk to functions the same.
Just, don’t assume anything about someone’s system.
If you want to know more about DID/OSDD make sure you’re getting information from a credible source, please. 
Listen to those with DID/OSDD about their systems.

You'd probably more like call me an idiot, but I can live with that. Hey! Are you into Magical Girls? Do you want to try D&D with them? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play canon characters in D&D? Maybe you actually want to suffer? Read this post.
So my friends and I play a badly homebrewed D&D 5e with the canon magical girl characters from Magical Girl Raising Project, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, and Daybreak Illusion. We also have our own OCs, which we know are horrible, but we play with them anyway because we hate ourselves that much.
One of us is going to be strapped for time to play soon, and we could use a couple more cool people over 18 to play with. We play a lot, and we don't really have set days or times. We do play other themed games, but most of them involve gay magical girls.
You don't need to have seen all these series to play. You do however, need to be over 18, have Discord, and be able to play on voice. No, we're not pro voice actors. In fact, we're just humble loaves of generic brand bread.
We're chill, we're gay, we cosplay, we scream about magical girls, and we want to make new friends to scream with. Most of us are in EST time.
Haven't played D&D before? That's fine, most of us do it wrong anyway. Just join us, we'll make sure you accidentally end up in an evil cult, summon gay cthulu, and do other things your parents will disapprove of, but be powerless to stop you from doing due to you being legally an adult.

These are Frequently Asked Questions I get about energy work. Please check this guide before asking me questions concerning energy work!
What does energy feel like?
It just…feels like energy. Energy, in a way, is a catch-all term. There really isn’t a way to describe the whole of energy; sure, you can describe parts of it, like the texture, color, or scent.
Does everything have energy? Even inanimate things like paper, crystal?
Yes everything has energy- science says so too because you know, potential and kinetic energy- though that’s not the only parts of energy you can sense.
Are there any energies that are better for beginners to start with while sensing?
I wouldn’t say so, I believe it’s best to do it wherever and whenever you can. There’s no place or energies that are better than any other to sense
How do I sense energy?
This is the tl;dr version but honestly there is not much more to sensing energy than this. It is genuinely simple
1. Ask yourself, “What does the energy of (insert thing here) feel like?”
2. Use your gut/intuition and pay attention to whatever comes to mind.
3. Practice.
How do I send energy?
This is the tl;dr version but honestly there is not much more to sending energy than this. It is genuinely simple. You do not need to be able to see energy with your physical eyes or third eye to be able to send energy.
1. Focus on your target or a representation of your target.
2. Imagine energy flowing from you/your energy source to your target. You do not need to be able to see energy with your physical eyes or third eye to be able to send energy.

What kind of exercises can I do to strengthen my energy sensing skills? How can I practice?
Basically just try to sense energy everywhere; try to feel the energy of a certain object, try to feel the energy of a certain room. Then describe it; and try to be specific in your descriptions. At first you might just be like “the room feels nice”, but as you keep trying to grind for detail it will turn into “the room feels nice because of the plant energies and generally calm and warm emotions of the owner of this bedroom”. So basically just try and practice anywhere, everywhere! You don’t need any specific tools/items to do this which is why u can practice anywhere. Expose yourself to different environments and elements and try to get the feel for them. 
But how do I know I’m right? How can I verify that’s what the actual energies are and not something I’m just thinking is there because I want it to be?
Your gut, practice, and possibly input by other people/spirits. There’s no way to scientifically/empirically verify that whatever you sensed was right. You’re just going to have to be confident in yourself.
What is grounding? When should I ground? And how do I ground?
Grounding is an energetic exercise that can help balance and cleanse your own energies. This is only one version of “grounding”; grounding is sometimes used as a catch-all term to bring yourself back to reality, out of magical feelings. You can ground before/after a magical working, and whenever you want. 
1. Sit or lie down somewhere
2. Imagine roots extending from your back down into the ground
3. Imagine those roots absorbing energy from the ground and giving it to you, and/or have a second root branch that gives your negative/unnecessary energy back to the earth.
4. Do as long as you want.
A few Not-Energetic Exercise forms of grounding, to bring you back to reality, are:
Eating food
Going for a walk outside
Playing video games
Talking to others about mundane topics
It is not limited to these few, these are just a few examples. Anything where yu are focusing on the mundane/physical reality an be considered the not-energetic exercise form of grounding. 
What is centering? When should I center? How do I center? 
Centering is the act of gathering your lost/scattered energy. It can also be used to raise/store energy for a magical working. Center whenever you want and/or before a magical working. 
1. Focus on yourself
2. Imagine glowing bits of your lost/scattered energy flowing back into yourself.
