CONVERSATION PITS / COMMUNITY NESTS
Hey Hi Hello! My Students, the nesting bug as come and bit me int he butt. Again. However, this is a different type of Nest Post! The other night @betasverse and I shared our love for Conversation Pits!
A Conversation Pit is an architectural feature that incorporates built-in seating into a sunken section of flooring, within a larger room. The seating face each other. This brings the occupants closer together, making conversation easier. These were popular in the 1950′s - 1970′s.
In My AU, every household would have one. It would be a common household feature. However, most conversation pits in my AU will not just have a solid floor at the bottom. They will have comfortable carpet, blankets, pillows, cushions, etc., filling the space. Tables in the middle are an option, but they are handy for food, drinks, table game, etc. These Conversation Pits (pits, CPs, Community Nests) can be placed anywhere, they are mostly placed in larger rooms. Like a living room. Though, I like to think they can be used outside too.
Since these “nests” are usually placed in common areas of the house, I think they’d be called “Community Nests” !!
You don’t need to put them in your AU. It’s your AU. If any of you are artist, I’d like to see your version of nests and/or community nests. Don’t let these photos LIMIT you from exploring this topic!

SOME HEADCANONS
Young, rowdy pups jumping into the community nests while their family members are on the other side shaking their heads. @betasverse
Lazy night in. Cuddled up in the community nests watching movies.
Cold Fall / Winter days, buried in the community nest with heated blankets and a warm drink.
Cool Summer nights, star gazing in the Community nests.
Steamy nights in the community nests with their potential mate while the family is out for the night. Don’t forget to clean up afterwards.
When looking for new homes, home buyers always inspect the Community Nest. Gotta make sure it’s a good fit!
Every Community Nest is different! Filled with different things, sizes are different, some have tables, some are close to fireplaces, some are outdoors and have fire pits!
Sleep overs in the Community Nests! Junk food, candy, empty cups everywhere.

Headcanons about newborn and toddler pups:
Omega pups are super small while alpha pups are large and beta pups are what we think of as a normal newborn. Parents can use hand me downs for alpha and beta pups, but if they have an omega they have to get a bunch of new stuff like pacifiers and clothes and blankets, even their bottles are smaller
Omegas will breastfeed their children until around 2-3 years old, and if they hear a crying baby, they’ll start to lactate to help the other mother just incase they can’t feed their baby. It’s really annoying in modern society.
Baby pups will yip and make noises like puppies and bunnies would. Baby omegas yip the most, being the babies who want the most attention from their parents.
I just think about omegaverse newborns constantly

May you please do headcanons of if an omega has a miscarriage
It took me a while to think of some, just because of the weight of this ask, but I'm going to do the best I can.
Like our world, miscarriages are serious.
Because omegas usually have multiples, it's not uncommon for them to miscarry/stillbirth one or two babies and have one survive. For packs that are hoping to expand during a birth season, this is especially devastating, as are all miscarriages.
**Headcanons will work for any dynamic***
They will usually be expected to take time off of work to mourn with their partner, in traditional pack structure, if the omega was mated to the pack alpha, the whole group would have a brief morning period.
The partner is also given time off work to mourn, but usually not as long.
Usually a burial/acknowledgment ceremony, either between the parents or between a small intimate group close to the family where they grieve together and "release" the child's spirit (usually name them as well, if it's late enough in the pregnancy).
Given a gemstone (corresponding with the month) on a ring, bracelet, or necklace to commemorate the date of the loss. Many times, this will be worn publicly. If you see someone with many of these stones on one piece of jewelry, they are highly respected because of how many children they've lost.
This piece is worn on the left hand (ring, bracelet), stones of living children are displayed on the right hand.
The family often acknowledges the anniversary, at least the first, of the miscarriage as a day of remembrance. Often tied to their religion/faith practice. Following anniversaries are commemorated by wearing the culture's color of mourning, love, or hope.
The due date is often a difficult day for the mother/father and are allowed to take the day off for that as well.
Miscarriages are much more socially acceptable to talk about, confide in other people, grieve in public, etc.. because they happen more frequently.
Young mothers/fathers are more likely to miscarry, especially if they are under 21. The older they become it's less likely, but it's also less likely to have multiples. Young = big litters, high chance of miscarriage. Older = increasingly smaller litters, smaller change of miscarraige.

More pup headcanons because I love talking about pups~
Omega pups don’t grow out of things as quickly as their beta and alpha counterparts, so they tend to get teased. Betas and alphas will stop sucking on pacifiers at age 2/3 while Omegas will stop around 6/7. Omega pups are seen more innocent, but there’s nothing odd about seeing beta or alpha pups with pacifiers either!
Teething is brutal. It’s brutal for our normal babies now, but each dynamic has a different way of teething. Alpha pups will chew on a n y t h i n g. They get in trouble for chewing on wooden things not made for teething a lot. If you see slobber or marks on the leg of your wooden chair, you can pretty much assume it’s your alpha pup. Beta pups are the easiest to teeth. They enjoy little plastic things to chew on and like cold things. Omega pups are the worst. They’re uncomfortable and whiny and scared because their mouths hurt. Pup popsicles are a must for omega pups teething. They’ll chew on them for hours, the little popsicles stay colder longer. If you can distract the omega pup, that’s probably your best bet.
So we know USA customs, so the government is much more hands on with pup raising. They supply the first 3 years of diapers, a small basket crib, a little plush, and a bonus on the parents’ checks. (We have an idealistic idea of society so there’s no like issues with stuff like this). Both parents get as much time off as they need for a newborn pup, especially the birthing parent.
They make little pup relaxers that dissolve in a pup’s mouth just in case they get too anxious or scared. Parents mostly use them on long trips or plane rides, especially with omega pups. Omegas don’t like to be far from their homes, so omega pups are even worse with it. But some parents will abuse the relaxers, so your account tells the cashier how many relaxers you buy in a year. If you go on a trip every month, you’d get through one box in 3 months, so you don’t need to buy a lot of them unless you have a prescription.
Omega pups go one way or the other when going into kindergarden/preschool. They either hold on to their parent’s leg for dear life, having to be coerced with toys and cookies, or they’re in the middle of the puppy pile, making sure everyone is okay. (Beta and alpha pups can do this too it’s just less common!)
You’ll have pup pheromones until you hit around 25. You of course have your own scent as well, but there will be a faint scent of pup under your scent.

Daddyss-little puppyy and I came up with a couple food ideas for canine (puppy🐶, wolf🐺, maybe fox🦊) regressors
🐾Kibble🐾
Peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, almond butter, or coconut butter.
Crushed cookie or crushed cereal
Butter
Powdered Sugar
Mix peanut butter or peanut butter substitute, butter, and powdered sugar into a ball. Remember to make the ball kind of small.
Then roll in crushed cookies or crushed cereal
Freeze or bake
Also another good option is Cocca Puffs or Reese Puffs.
🥘Wet Food🍜
Cubed Meat or Tofu
Gravy or other sauce
Cut choice of meat or tofu into big size cubes
Pour gravy or sauce over the meat or tofu
🍫Treats🍬
Cookie dough
Rolling pin
Dog treat cookie cutters
(Optional) Food coloring
(Optional) Add color to the cookie dough, if store bought add to dough and knead in.
Roll dough out evenly, then cut with cookie cutter
Bake cookies
Adding color to the treat can make them look like Milk Bones also can help you sort out types of treats if you use more than one type of cookies
Also another good option for treats is Scooby Doo graham cracker sticks.

Here's a friendly reminder that age/pet regressors who's "big age" is 30+ are super duper valid and deserve to be recognized more by our community!
Age/Pet regression is not a thing only children, teenagers or young adults do and/or need.
People in their 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s and 70s should be allowed to embrace their inner child the same way we do - without the shame and guilt they would've to deal with outside of their safe space. They're not gr0ss or in any other way inconvenient for doing what makes them feel happy and secure, which is not only an opinion, but a fact.
