Realized on my most recent gtn reread that the first time we see Gideon really laugh on page is at the idea of becoming Harrow‘s cavalier at the very beginning—and the first time Gideon hears Harrow truly laugh is at the idea that she might be anything less than the best cavalier the Ninth has ever produced at the very end of the book.

Started fencing this semester and it’s hands down the most disorienting sport I know. I understand the rules in theory but I can never figure out who is winning regardless of whether I’m watching or one of the people actively fencing.

Anyway, since I have Gideon and Cam on the fencing team in my college AU, very hilarious thought of Pal and Harrow learning fencing rules by heart only to watch an actual match between their friends and lose track immediately. There’s absolutely no way Harrow would ask about it first, but when Pal leans over to ask her who’s winning she’s forced to admit she has no fucking clue, actually

(It’s Cam. She and Gideon are very amused about how Pal and Harrow somehow managed to study fencing techniques for hours and hours yet neither of them came out of it with an actual grasp on how it works.)

Incredibly stupid yet hilarious moment from a dream I had recently:

Can’t remember the exact circumstances but Gideon got stabbed with a rusty knife. Harrow was absolutely horrified, using necromancy to remove it from her side and going on about how dangerous that is and how they “have no idea where it’s been”

To which Gideon just replied “you don’t know where I’ve been, either. If anything, I need to apologize to the knife.”
