Five Tips For Upping You Vibe
Even the happiest people have down days and that is completely normal, but for those days when your skies are gray and you鈥檇 much rather they be blue, here鈥檚 my top five tip and tricks for improving your mood:
1. DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE
So this sounds stupid simple but sometimes it鈥檚 the little things that can vastly improve your day. This can be something as small as having breakfast (or brunch ;P) with a friend or something as big as taking a spur of the moment weekend trip. One of my favorite things to do is take a bath. I add bath bombs, bath salts, bubble bath, bath milk or sometimes all of the above. It鈥檚 that little extra effort of just doing something solely for you that makes all the difference. While I鈥檓 in the bath I like to watch videos on YouTube (a few of my favorites are Zoella, PointlessBlog, and Safiya Nygaard) but you could also read or listen to music or just sit and let you mind go.
2. LISTEN TO MUSIC
Everyone knows that music is a foolproof way to change your mood. So on a day that your really feeling good, make a playlist that amps up that feeling. That way on your down days you鈥檝e got a pre-made playlist to boost your mood. A couple of my favorites are:
Emmylou by First Aid Kit
Cheap Sunglasses by RAC
Island in the Sun by Weezer
Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson
Olivia by One Direction (I mean, come on, its got my name in it!)
3. CALL SOMEONE
My go to on this is my Mamma, but dads, friends, siblings, and other family can be wonderful happy sources too. Call someone that makes you smile and talk to them about themselves. For me, that is the key. My mom is always such a happy person, so hearing her talk about her day inevitably makes me happier and makes me forget about whatever it was that was bringing me down.
4. GET OUTSIDE
Of course this can be hard if the day is as dreary as you are, but jumping in puddles can be just as happy making as sunny days at the park. The key really is to get out of your house. Being in nature is a great way to do that, but getting out to window shop or get froyo can be just as good.
5. WATCH CARTOONS
It sounds silly, but cartoons are marketed to kids for a reason. Now, when I say cartoons I don鈥檛 mean the Simpsons or Bob鈥檚 Burgers. I strait up mean Kids shows. something classic like Tom and Jerry or something new like Sofia the First. The point is kids shows are usually fun and light and about learning how to be a good person and feel good things (oddly enough) MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD. I highly recommend Woody Woodpecker, The Pink Panther (OG), Sofia the First, and How To Train Your Dragon. There are tons of episodes and movies on all of these and they genuinely improve my mood. Make yourself a yummy snack (the more colorful the better) and put on Netflix Kids, you wont be disappointed!
