Man that is a completely different ball game. That is Medivh, Lothar and Llane growing up together and sharing all their free time. Even as they grow older and Llane has to spend more time learning how to be a ruler and Medivh gets really into his magic books, they still take time to come play-fight Lothar in Elwynn Forest. They take down their first Boar together. They share their first Flask of Port on the bridge between Old Town and the Dwarven District, the sweet burn of it making Lotharās head spin.
They share the first seeds of their sexual awakening, clumsy fumbling and tentative strokes, tipsy on mead and reckless adolescence. Llane made them swear never to speak of it again, but Lothar could not let it go. He kept pulling both of his friends back, Medivh willingly and Llane grudgingly, but he knew they both wanted him. He had grown into a charismatic youth, not as pretty as Llane and not as well-spoken as Medivh, but he was magnetic and he knew how to abuse it.
Lothar was not surprised when Llane had started courting his sister. Hurt, but not surprised.
āShe isnāt me.ā Lothar had said, fists clenched.
āNo one will ever be.ā Llane had answered and that had been the only words on the subject.
Medivh and Lothar would still hook up sometimes, but then the Mage falls into a coma and Lothar understands for the first time what it means to be helpless. He spends every waken moment after that training to be the best warrior there ever was, to take his mind of the pain he feels and to make sure he will never feel helpless again.
Sometimes when heās leaving Stormwind Keep after speaking to the king he finds himself lingering on the bridge between Old Town and the Dwarven District. Sometimes he can still taste the bittersweet Port they had shared.

I mean, Iām not saying Khadgar was madly in love with Lothar.
All Iām saying is that when Lothar was killed Khadgar formed Sons of Lothar in his honour before recklessly volunteering to get locked away in Outlands so he could close the portal to Azeroth from there, not knowing if he would survive. Probably not even caring.

Trace of Silver
Lothar has scars.
Some must have been deep cuts, like the red line marring the outside of his thigh, while others are just badly healed, like the silvery patterns from ragged claw marks on his hip. There is a burn on his neck and a mark from an arrow that pierced his left shoulder blade. Khadgar counts at least six that should have been serious enough to take the warriorās life and asks teasingly, before pressing his mouth to Lotharās, if the warrior had made it through on pure spite.
They both know the truth, though; that Lothar, like other heroes, are simply favored by the Light, a fact that Khadgar is ashamed to admit took him quite a while to realize isnāt always a blessing. Before the war Khadgar had been so young, blinded by the power of the Arcane and his own brilliance. He had thought ā stupidly ā that having his own life cut short was the worst thing there was, simply because he had never known what it meant to have someone ripped out of your life by the cruel hands of death.

I really wanted to add why this is such important information, because while Khadgar did pick up the mantle of the Guardian, protecting Azeroth, he wield none of the powers. The only power Khadgar has is his own, and while itās considerable enough to mark him the greatest mage who ever lived, it is not the ancient magic passed down from the Council of Seven.
Every brave thing Khadgar did before Lothar died and every reckless thing he did after, he did knowing that to vanquish true evil you need more than one Hero; you need to stand together.
A noteworthy fact about Khadgar
Contains Spoilers:
Khadgar is definitelyĀ not the Guardian (source), if anyone still had doubts. The power passed fromĀ Aegwynn to Medivh seems to have been lost.
However,Ā Khadgar is the current wielder of the greatstaff Atiesh, handed down from Guardian to Guardian. It allows him to turn into a ravenĀ (source: dialogue from Khadgar when starting Azsuna).
#It's truly heartbreaking because Khadgar learned that with Lothar at his side he was so much stronger#but he didn't truly understand how much it had meant to him until after Lothar died#and if you want to know Med'an is the next Guardian if you go by the comic books#lovechild of Garona and Medivh#but seeing as the two hardly met in the movie it is safe to assume that didn't happen in movie verse#Blizzard prefers to have five different versions of Lore
