I headcanon IDW Ch'rell as gay. From the way his sister describes his extreme devotion to Krang, followed up by his *demanding* to see him mere seconds after dropping from stasis, why wouldn't he be? He's clearly madly in love. Krang reciprocated, but had a lot more chill in his affection. I also headcanon that homophobia and transphobia are literally alien concepts to Utroms. So if there was controversy in the relationship, it would be because of sketchiness due to their military ranks.
