It’s Not Your Fault

Bucky Barnes x Reader

Warnings- angst, minor injuries, crying, explosions , kind of explicit language, burns, hurt/comfort (happy ending)

They where in Bucky’s room in the compound. They are usually at her apartment but he brought her over so she could meet everyone. They’ve been dating for a year. They could hear some clattering on the other side of the wall because his room was right next to the lab.

Bucky was just in sweatpants and she was just wearing one of his shirts and shorts. She was on top of him and peppering kisses all over his face and making him laugh.

“Hey baby” he said softly making her lift her head so she could look at him

“Yeah” she said with a big smile

He put his hands on her face and started saying “I lov-“ when he got cut off by a loud bang. They both got threw off the bed and Bucky wrapped himself around her so she wouldn’t be injured. They crashed into the wall with a loud bang.

“Shit what was that” Bucky said loudly. He sat up and groaned and he looked down at where she was in a ball on her side, clutching her arm.

“Shitshitshit” Bucky muttered. He tried to help her up the best he could without hurting her. He was too focused on her to hear his door being opened and Steve and Tony ran in.

She was crying and had her knees up.

“Hey, hey what hurts?” He asked softly trying not to alarm her further. She slowly brought her arm out where he saw she got burned.

Steve ran over to them and said “What happened?”

Bucky looked up “I don’t know i think there was a explosion in the lab, she’s hurt” He explained

“Ok get her to Bruce” Steve said running to the lab.

After Steve ran out Bucky looked at her and said “Ok baby i’m gonna have to lift you up i’m sorry if it hurts” She nodded still crying.

Bucky softly held her bridal style and took her to Bruce’s lab. When he got in there Bruce already had bandages ready. “I’m gonna set you down on the bed” Bucky said softly and she nodded again.

He set her down and that’s when he did he saw what happened. Her arm got burned and her legs and scratches and bruises all over them. Bucky looked down at himself and saw his sweatpants where all dirty and he had scratches and bruises all over his chest.

“What happened?” Bruce asked grabbed her arm softly. “Uh i think there was a explosion in the lab next to my room and it threw us off the bed. “ Bucky explained

“Ok, I think her burn will be fine with a few weeks of healing and burn cream” Bruce said while wrapped it in a bandage. Bucky nodded. It took about 10 minutes for Bruce to clean all her scratches and put bandages on them.

“Buck you gotta get fixed up too” She whispered, speaking for the first time since it happened. Bucky looked down at himself and gave her a small smile “Yeah i do” he replied. After Bruce fixed her up Bucky sat next to her so Bruce could put bandages on him.

She slowly put her hand in his and rested her head on his shoulder and Bucky gave her a small smile. It took about another 10 minutes for Bucky to be fixed up. Before Bruce left he said “Ok so after 2 days take off the bandages and it should be healed enough to the point where you can put burn cream on it. If it gets worse ask Bucky to bring you back here.” He explained to her and she nodded. “Bucky you take care of her” Bruce said before walking out.

Bucky turned to his side and wrapped his arms around her softly “Are you okay?” he asked against her hair and he felt her nod. “I’m so sorry” he kept repeating to her. She pulled away so she could look at his face. “It’s okay i promise it’s not your fault” she replied. Before Bucky could speak she said “How about you finish what you where saying before this happened.” She said giving him a big smile.

Bucky chuckled and nodded. He put his hands on her face carefully and said “I love you” while looking into her eyes. “I love you too” She replied before kissing him.

After 2 weeks her arm was healed and they moved Bucky’s bedroom away from the labs and also never put a bedroom next to the labs again.

Day 9- Game Day

Bucky Barnes x female reader

They where both in their senior year of high school. They met in freshmen year and have been dating since. It was the first football game of the season and she goes to every single one with him whether or not it’s far away.

She always drives him to school when he has football games because she stays the night at his house those nights. She was on the bleachers waiting for the game to start when she got a text from Bucky that said “come behind the bleachers.” she smiled and went behind them.

When she got there he was panting and standing there. She giggled and ran over to him.

“Hi Bucky” she said when she walked over to him.

He looked up and smiled and said “Hey baby”

“Why’d you want me to come back here?” she asked

“I just wanted to see you before we played.” He said and he put his hands on her waist.

She smiled and brought a hand up to his face and he leaned into the touch. Bucky leaned down to kiss her and she happily kissed him back.

“Good luck baby” she whispered against his lips “I’ll always be proud of you” she added him

He smiled widely and said “I love you more then you’ll ever know.”

She giggled and said “What if i love you more”

“Hmmm we will see” he said still smiling.

They broke apart when they heard someone yelling behind Bucky. It was Steve telling him it was time to start. She smiled and leaned up to kiss him quick and she said “good luck” before he ran back.

She went back to the bleachers to sit next to her friend. Right when she sat down his team ran onto the field and she clapped.

At halftime their team was down by 4 points. She looked at her phone and it was a text from Bucky and it said “i’m nervous we won’t win” she replied instantly and said “i believe you will and even if you don’t i’ll still be proud of you” He replied with “really?” she frowned because she knew he always had problems in believing in himself and she sent “always” and she wasn’t suprised that he didn’t reply since halftime ended.

At the end of the game she stood up and clapped because their team won by 5 points. She was smiling wide because she was happy for Bucky. Everyone went down to the field but she went over to where she always met him after games.

Where they always met after games was behind the food concession stand. She sat behind it and it took Bucky a few minutes to get back there since he was in the middle of the crowd and everyone was congratulating him. He ran over to where she was and he laid down in the grass.

“I’m dying” he said panting

She giggled and handed him the water bottle she always kept for after games. He chugged the water. and turned his head to look at her and he said “Thank you” she smiled and laid down next to him. She laid her hand on his cheek and he gave her a small smile.

“You ready to go to your house?” she asked and he nodded softly. She stood up and put her hand out even though she couldn’t lift him up and she said “Come on”. He grabbed her hand and held it till they got to her car.

When she turned on the car she laughed because Bucky turned the air up all the way and turned it to himself. When they got to his house he went to take a shower and she stayed in his room. She changed into pajamas she left there before.

When Bucky walked in he was wearing sweatpants and a shirt and his hair was messy. He closed the door and jumped on the bed and when he did he made her laugh.

“You feel better?” She asked looking at where he was laying down next to her thigh.

“Hmm yeah” He said quietly

She checked her phone and saw that it was 9:30. “Let me turn off the light then we can sleep” she said softly and Bucky nodded. She got off the bed and turned off the light and turned on his fan. When she got back he was on the left side of the bed on his side. She got under the covers and laid on her side so she could look at him.

“Goodnight i love you” She said and softly kissed him.

Bucky smiled and said “I love you too, sleep good” while wrapped his arm around her waist.

They both fell asleep quickly since they had school all day.

Day 7- Movie marathon

She has been living in the compound for about 2 years and 3 months ago Bucky moved into the compound. She’s never actually talked to him even though she wanted to but she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.

One day she saw him reading The Hobbit. She wondered if he ever watched the movies. The next day she walked into the movies room and saw Bucky sitting in a seat and reading The Hobbit.

She walked up to him and said “Hi Bucky”

He looked up with wide eyes and said “H-hi”

“Um i saw you reading The Hobbit and wondering if you ever saw the movies?” She said

He looked confused but interested and said “There’s movies?” quietly.

“Yeah!!” she said excitedly. She got quieter and said while fidgeting with her hands “Um maybe we should watch them one day?”

Bucky looked up at her with a small smile and said “Sure” “I don’t have anything to do so i can watch them anytime”

“Ok” she said with a big smile that made his heart beat faster. “Do you wanna watch them tomorrow since it’s already late?” She asked

“Sure” he said softly “Wanna meet up here at 3 pm?”

“Yeah!” she said then got a ding from her phone. She checked it and her eyes went wide “Oh my god i forgot i have to train with Nat, Bye Bucky!” She said running out the door.

He chuckled and waved to her even though she was already turned around.

The Next Day

She was bored all day waiting to finally watch the movies with Bucky. At 2:30 she thought it was ok to go in there and wait for him. When she walked in there she was surprised to already see him sitting on a couch reading.

She smiled and walked to him and she said “Hi” softly

Bucky looked up with a smile and said “Hey”

“Is it okay if i sit?” she asked

“Yeah of course!” He said and moved so he wasn’t taking up too much space.

“Thank you” she replied quietly, she got on the couch and got comfortable with a blanket she brought.

She turned on the first movie, about 30 minutes in the movie she frowned because Bucky didn’t have a blanket and he was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt. She got closer to him so they where shoulder to shoulder and put the other half of the blanket on his lap.

He looked up surprised and said “Thanks” with a smile

“You’re welcome” she said blushing

Half way through the 2nd movie she leaned over and whispered to Bucky and said “i’ve actually never watched these”

He chuckled and said “really?”

“Yeah but when i saw you reading it i thought maybe it’s time i watched it and then i wanted to watch it with you” she said blushing when she realized Bucky was looking into her eyes.

“Well thank you” he said with a smile

She smiled and looked down then looked back at the movie.

When they started the 3rd movie she could feel herself getting tired because she didn’t sleep well last night but she ignored it.

About 20 minutes later Bucky felt something hit his shoulder and he frowned and looked down. He smiled when he saw her eyes closed and she was sleeping. He decided not to wake her up because he would feel bad if he did.

He felt himself getting tired but he ignored it because he wanted to finish the movie.

The Next Morning

Steve walked into the theater room because Bucky said he would be there and he hadn’t seen him since yesterday morning. When he walked in he saw the screen was off, he walked to the couch and saw Bucky asleep on his back with her on top of him.

He smiled but secretly took a picture of them before he left.

Before she got home she already texted Bucky that she hadn’t had a good day and that she didn’t want to eat out and he was ok with that.

When she got home the first thing she saw was all the lights out except for some in the living room. She walked by the kitchen counter that had a few candles on it and their flower vase had a new bouquet of flowers.

“Bucky?” she called out “In here!” she heard from the living room. She saw a fort made up and was confused. She kneeled on the ground and saw Bucky in the fort. it had fairy lights hanging up and basically all their pillows and blankets.

She laughed and said “what is this for?” He smiled at her and said “You texted me you had a bad day and so i thought this might make you feel better. We can watch your favorite movie and eat popcorn.”

She smiled and leaned in to kiss him and said “i’ll be right back let me get on my pajamas.”

When she came back he was sitting in the fort with a bowl of freshly made popcorn in his lap. She pushed a blanket to the side and crawled in. She sat next to him and cuddled against him.

She turned on Mean Girls and he didn’t care what she watched he just wanted her to be happy. About 40 minutes into the movie he looked down and saw her asleep on his chest. He smiled and turned off the tv and moved down so his head was on the pillow. The last thing he saw before he fell asleep where the fairy lights twinkling.
