Well u weren’t supposed to pull an uno reverse card on me and get MY heart shattered 😭
It’s the middle of the night. Chiron should probably get some sleep. Looking out of his window he sees two boys, they’re stargazing. Achilles! He thinks. Patroclus!
It’s only then that he realises that Patroclus’ skin is way too white and as glorious as Achilles was, he definitely didn’t light up like a glow stick in the night. It’s not them. It’s just Nico and Will.
It’s been over 2000 years, they’re dead, Chiron, they’re dead.

And people dare ask me why I’m not okey?
Thalia doesn’t keep many things in the hundreds of years she’s been alive.
But long ago, there were people, their names all but distant memories, who mattered in her 1st lifetime. It’s their things that stay hidden in her bag, reminding her of her mortal life.
A blue hoodie, worn almost threadbare. The scent of its original owner, long since leached from the fabric. But if she closes her eyes, she can almost see the blue eyes of her first and only love.
A pair of glasses. Frames cracked and crooked. A reminder of a brother she never got to truly know.
A baseball cap. It’s magic long faded, branded with a forgotten logo. Memories of a blonde girl laughing hidden deep within.
A letter. Ink fading, paper yellow. The last words of a dying friend. Words that wish her well, words that wished her well in a world they had fought side by side to save.
Thalia doesn’t keep a lot of things, but even after all this time, Luke, Jason, Annabeth, and Percy will stay with her forever. The memories of her first family to remind her why life is so beautiful.

Imagine if the Trojan war had a groupchat
Achilles: Has anyone seen Patroclus?
Ajax: I can confirm he just typed that while ripping some Trojans head off. Someone better find Pat
———
Hector: dude I’m so done with this war. Can’t we just give Helen back and get this over with?
Odysseus: huh, that’s a strategy I hadn’t thought of yet
Trojan soldier: we’ve been fighting for ten years over one woman???
*Paris left the groupchat*
———
Odysseus: yo Trojans! Besties! We just kinda gave up… so you win the war! Congrats :) also we left a little present for you at the city gates for you!!
Priam (king of Troy): seems legit
*a couple of hours later*
That one Trojan soldier that survived: what the fuck was that

It’s a random Thursday at camp Jupiter when a woman asks Nico to watch her toddler for a while.
Nico is confused. What about the giant bags under his eyes and physique so thin he’s barely capable of carrying a toddler makes him seem like the right person to trust with your child?
When he looks at the child, he can feel his legs trembling. She must have been born around the time his sister died… “It’s not Bianca,” he whispers to himself, “it’s not her.”

You died & arrive in the underworld. Hades is waiting for you there, but that’s not what surprises you.
“What is this?” you ask, “wasn’t the underworld supposed to be dark & scary?”
Hades smiles. “It was once, but Persephone has her fun with it now. On earth it’s winter, but here we’re in the middle of summer.”
It’s beautiful. There’s flowers everywhere, the water from the river Styx is streaming all around you & a guy is playing music on a lyre, better than you’ve ever heard before.
Hades points to the musician, “That’s Orpheus, we’re glad he came back. He cheers the place up, you know?”
You walk past two guys sitting on a bench, they’re holding on to each other like their life depends on it. “Achilles & Patroclus,” Hades explains, “after all this time they’re still scared to let go”
You feel proud, “So I was right? The Greek myths are real?”
“But my friend, of course, you knew that didn’t you? Otherwise you would have never arrived here. This is a place only for the people who believed in us.”
Your hearts sinks.
“Why do you think I had the time to come and greet you? Why haven’t had a new soul in years. We’re so glad you’re here!”
Your family, your friends, everyone you’ve ever loved, they won’t be coming. You’re in paradise, but you’re all alone.

Why is that in fantasy books characters never die in stupid, meaningless ways?
Like it’s always “Frank died by trying to save his friends from a dragon” and never “Frank died while milking his favorite cow & she fell on top of him” or “he died while trying to show his friends how many tomatoes he could fit in his mouth”

Luke was dying, he wasn’t as scared as he thought he’d be. Next to him was his little sister, Annabeth, who somewhere in these last few years had become a lot less little. He had missed it.
“Did you love me?” He asks.
He wasn’t asking her whether she had been in love with him. But before he died he wanted to hear someone say that they loved him without it hurting.
His mother had told him that she loved him hundreds of times, but it had always felt more like a goodbye, than the simple, kind words they should have been.
His father had told him that he loved him, but people who love you don’t hurt you the way Hermes hurted him.
“You were like a brother to me Luke,” Annabeth says. But there’s a kind of love hidden in those words too. A sibling bond. That was good enough for him.

Generation alpha must be such an epidemic at camp halfblood. Like up until gen Z these kids were fine with never using technology again, they probably didn’t even have their own phone yet by the time they made their way to camp. But can you imagine telling an iPad kid they can never touch a screen again?

*Achilles arriving in the underworld*
Achilles: “Where’s Patro-“
Hades: “FINALLY! ACHILLES- a word please”
Achilles: “Sure, but could you tell me where Patroclus -“
Hades: “Look around”
Achilles: “I am, but it’s so crowded in here, I can’t see him”
Hades: “Exactly!”
Hades: “A 10 year long war was already bad enough, but then you had to go and murder 10 000 people in one day???”
Hades: “Frank over here - who you gracefully pierced with your spear btw - has been standing in this exact same spot for three days because I’ve got no place to put him!”
Achilles: “So I’m guessing you’re not going to help me find Patroclus, then?”

Imagine being a Greek soldier im the Trojan war. You’ve been there for 10 years, you’ve got a couple of kids at home growing old without you. You’re tired.
And then one day you’re fighting yet another battle and suddenly you look besides you and see Achilles going absolutely feral, killing every soldier in sight.
“You’re telling me he could do that all along? All it took was his boyfriend dying? I could have taken care of that sooner. Ten years of my life for fucking nothing, dam it”

Briseis was lost and confused. She was dead, of that much she was certain. Shot in the back. But where was she? Where was the beach? Why was there water everywhere? And where was Patroclus?
It took her days to find her way back. When she finally reached the beach & with that Achilles’ resting place, it was already too late. Patroclus’ name was added to the stone. He didn’t stay to say goodbye.
She wanted to be selfish, to feel sad that the love of her life would spend an eternity in the underworld without her, but that wasn’t like her. Her lips betrayed her by curving up: he was safe, he was happy, he didn’t need her anymore. She might never find peace (who was left to bury her now?), but at least she’d never have to worry about him again.

*in the underworld*
Achilles: “So how’d u guys end up winning the war?”
Greek soldier: “Horse”
Achilles: “A horse, what do you mean a horse?”
Greek soldier: “Like a really big horse”
Achilles: “Was it like some god disguised as a horse that helped the Greeks?”
Greek Soldier: “Nuh-uh, it was a wooden horse”
Achilles: “I do not get it, what would u need a wooden horse for?”
Greek soldier: “We gifted it to the Trojans.”
Achilles: “You gifted it to the Trojans? Why would you built a horse and then give it to your enemy? Did you even win the war?” *looks at Patroclus*
Patroclus: “Don’t look at me, for once I’m just as clueless as you are”

The big three watching Disney’s Hercules
Zeus: *sees Hera portrayed as Hercules’ mom* “Oh Gods, I thought we were passed this, I am so sleeping on the couch tonight”
Poseidon: “Oh look, there’s me!”
Poseidon: …
Poseidon: “Am I not going to say anything in this movie?”
Poseidon: “This is no fun, I don’t care about Hercules.”
Poseidon: “Why are we watching this? I liked those Percy Jackson movies way more, at least there I was hot”
*Movie ends*
Hades: “So my main take away from this is that I should absolutely dye my hair blue”
