Hello! I love your monhun embroidery pieces 💛💛 If you don't mind, wanted to ask what got you into embroidery? Do you have a favourite embroidery thread brand/type?
Thanks thanks!
Well my mom teached me when I was a kid, but I left it and came back to it after buying a book in my university, this one:
I honestly don't know if there's an english version of this book but it has a lot of interesting embroidery techniques compiled from all parts and backgrounds of Mexico.
...........
And about the thread; well, I use mostly whatever fits into the texture or aesthetic I'm looking for because you can basically use whatever, even knitting thread if you have a needle chunky enough.
Some recomendations I do have tho: check how resistant the threads are, bad quality threads tend to break pretty easily, do some testing of the threads also check if the colors get washed out after well, you wash them. Also some threads break not because they are cheap but because that's how they work so be careful.
Now brands, I've worked with: Omega, Vela and Iris. They are good cotton threads but I think they are mexican brands lasjkaflsjdf
A really good brand is DMC, it has lots of colors and thread types I love them, but man if they are expensive, I recommend using them for the fanciest part of your piece lol
Now with synthetic stuff I've used acrylic threads such as: Acrilán, Cristal and Omegacryl.
This ones are cheap, have tons of colors and effects, and don't wash out but they are synthetic
So yeah, go and check on the stores near your home and test, you'll mostly use the thread according to the colors you need and the textures you want to achieve
EDIT:
If you want to use punch needle, acrylic thread it's what have worked the best for me at least for the least chunky needle sizes
