Willow Lake Landscapes... with a long lens. The trees are budding and spring is evident all around. Water levels are lower than this time last year, but hopefully we will have a nice long wet monsoon season this summer ;).

Egret... in the grasslands near Willow Lake. I took this image March 30 ...I kind of like the beige/brown color palatte. Though now, three weeks later, everything is turning green. Spring has definitely sprung ;)

Glossy Ibis... at the marshy end of Willow Lake (marshy at least for now - it should dry up moving into late spring/early summer). I first noticed them a week or so ago. I keep saying I'm not a 'birder' but I am an opportunist when wildlife is a part of the landscapes I usually photograph. I was pretty sure they were Ibis but I had to look them up to verify what I thought I remembered - and then further narrowed them down to the Glossy Ibis. I have to admit, that I did specifically leave home this morning with just my long lens (and my dog Ginger) with the intent of capturing these images - so I also have to admit to myself that I'm at least 'birder adjacent' ;)

Miscellaneous early April

The night blooming cereus had a second set of blooms this year. This time I got up early in the morning to see if it stayed open all night/ Here it is in full glory in early dawn.
