Celebrian's design for my Rings of Power AU celrond fic that i plan on writing real soon! A little different than my canon celebrian in that she's a bit taller, and a bit more stocky (vs chubby). She's a super adventurous and curious person (she would get along SO well with Nori) and loves to make and invent things. She would also get along pretty well in Khazad-dûm, cause she'd just be like "how did you make that? How did you mine that?? Teach me everything!!" haha. In the human village she and Celeborn reside in the beginning of the fic she's kind of a jack of all trades "Fixer" so-to-speak. She's also has a bit of her mother's temper, but she's generally very very slow to anger. She's no stranger to death, having seen a few generations of human friends grow old and die, but has never seen too violent a death, which causes some shock to her later on--also, her father is the only elf she's ever met growing up, and Elrond is the first elf she meets when she leaves the human village--and she's all like "Omg! Another elf!" haha. Overall, she's both experienced and inexperienced in the world. She grew up sheltered in a relatively protected and secluded human village, but she's not too too naïve despite that.

A new elven illustration!
My top elves from Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power. Elrond, Arondir and Galadriel.
9 more elves to go 🥳 I'm starting to feel like I will be able to finish them on time! 🤩

Okay my pet The Rings of Power conspiracy theory is that Elrond will grow his hair out as he gains position. 🙏

Here's my @officialtolkiensecretsanta gift for @monroesimons! She requested "the fluffiest, happiest thing you can give me", so here is Elrond and Durin enjoying a cozy fire and a warm drink together! Hope you like it!

New Rings of Power cast members (barring Sam Hazeldine whom we know will be taking Adar over from Joseph Mawle) and my guesses (deep desires) on who they might be playing from top left to bottom right; Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour who I am hoping will be Cirdan, Gabriel Akuwudike who GOD I want to be Anarion so badly, Amelia Kenworthy who honestly like.. if they were going to cast Celebrian for this adaptation this is the actress they’d go for she looks even younger than Galadriel by some miracle, Nia Towle who I’m actually going to go ahead and say might be Isildur’s eventual wife? She needs to exist so!, Ben Daniels who might possibly be Narvi and I’m hoping isn’t Celeborn given aforementioned incredibly young looking Galadriel, and lastly  Nicholas Woodeson who I suspect might be Amandil? He is a little too old for Amandil to my taste but he’s got a good face so I’ll accept him.

Exorcising the ROP demons by doodling.
Look, cancel me if you want, but ROP actually isn't half as bad as y'all made it out to be. Yeah, I said it even as a fan of Tolkien's books!

Headcanon time! Arondir is from Doriath originally and was able to escape to Sirion during the Second Kinslaying. He then survived the Third Kinslaying (obviously) and followed Cìrdan. He fought in the War of Wrath but wasn't really part of the main action.
In Doriath, he was a farmer (or "grower" as he said in episode 1) and his sister was a royal babysitter essentially. Sometimes, when Eluréd, Elurín, and Elwing wanted to go out and explore, she'd take them to Arondir's farm. She died trying to defend the twins from Celegorm's servants.
Arondir is probably one of the only people left alive who actually knew Eluréd and Elurín.

So....why WERE the Mystic ladies looking for Sauron in a burning meteor crater with no memory?
Exactly how badly DID Adar fuck him up?

I'm so disappointed that we didn't get to see Celebrimbor making the rings shirtless because we could have had this bless our screens.

Okay, my two cents
I'm trying to limit my looking over the trop tag in general because the reviews are sending me into the uncomfortable area of verdict obligation. There are things in the show that I would've done very differently from the lore-fanfictional-adaptation perspective. There are things that I would've done differently purely for the writing purposes. There are things that I dislike noticeably, including the fanservice (like, movie quote/rhyme is great and heartwarming, but three in a row? And all wrapped in another one? Others that go on for five minutes to make absolutely sure that you get them? Massive last-minute school assignment addition slap-on vibe here, I hope it's the studio mandate or something). There are things that can lessen the other really, really good choices and details, if I let them. There's a TON of design choices that I can both defend and criticize.
But ALL of those I can forgive and, in truth, I enjoy picking them apart and figuring out where all of it comes from, instead of judging it severely with disgust. And it's coming from someone who wasn't even going to watch it, because the announcements and then later the first promos all came at a time when I was just angry at the whole situation in the TV show industry and exhausted by it, and then the amazon thing, and the still somewhat sacred position of Tolkien's works in my worldview... I even overcame the aversion that the first episode elicited, because the beginning was bad. Clumsily paced, poorly put together, with horrible dialogue, exposition talking to itself through ventriloquist dolls without making much sense regardless of lore adherence. But I kept on watching out of morbid curiosity, and I was rewarded (more than with my crusty dusty boy by quite a lot).
Because there's still some good in this world, mister Frodo, and it's worth fighting for Because good faith feels fantastic and needs to be nurtured.
Because not a single one of those choices or even disregards makes me want to spit in the face of those made them. I already have one show that feels like this: where someone (from a different, globally powerful culture, no less) took something very dear to me and made sure to twist it in every detail to the point of insult, and then went full ha-ha and y u mad about it on public. I don't want to feel that ever again. And with Rings, I did not. This show was made with love. And a few objectives from the overlords, no doubt about that, but they went about those, I guess, as gracefully as they could. I wish for the next seasons to make more sense thematically and emotionally within itself. I wish for the various parts to support each other a lot better than they did in the first one. I wish for it to be freer of external obligations, which is not likely, but hope is never mere. I seriously hope for it to lay off the 'our viewers are probably dumb children' quail sauce. And, I don't know, acquire or borrow some more rights to the actual texts to better feed the lore hunger, lol. But if it continues to be a bit of a mess, I'm sure it will continue to be a fairly beautiful one.
