Lucius had been looking through the wares of the small stand carefully. Most often these places sold garbage, which was all the better because the few times they had something special, they didn’t know it. And Lucius would be more than happy to take a dark artifact off a merchant’s hands for less than it was really worth. He was enjoying his time, at least until he saw one of the stupid so called ‘Marauders.’ He sneered when the boy caught his eyes on him. “Well obviously. I should hardly think the like of you would have anything worthwhile to me,” he said giving the half-blood a haughty once over.

cissxblxck:
At times Narcissa did wonder how Lucius truly felt about her. They rarely talked about feelings. To be honest she rarely talked about feelings to anyone. Feelings didn’t really come into consideration in pureblood marriages. Of course, that didn’t mean that Narcissa didn’t want a marriage that was filled with love. Because she did. And she intending on being pretty picky when it came to who she married. She was lucky that she was her dad’s favourite. She was sure she could twist his arm in agreeing with her.  So, even though she was dating Lucius, she still wasn’t totally sure that he was the one she would marry, even though he was a Malfoy.
“Makes two of us….” The blonde murmured, a faint laugh on her lips. This kind of thing was the last place she’d have expected to see either of them at. Cissy knew the reason that they were both here, and at least they know knew that neither of them had a secret passion of this trash. “Mmm. I’m the best company.” She knew that she was. She was a Black, and that made her the best. Of course, Lucius was pretty good company too, but she didn’t intend on feeding his ego any way at all.
“Mmm. You have a great mind of ideas” She teased with a little smile. She really wouldn’t mind leaving at all. She was done, and she really didn’t want her head ache getting any worse. “Oooh yes. I do recall you still havent taken me to the opera. How tragic”
Tumblr media
To Lucius, marriage really only meant two things. For one, it meant a chance to expand power, to merge one good family to another. It meant keeping the blood pure. It meant bringing even more power and wealth to the Malfoy name. It was opportunity. The second, was to have children, or more ideally, a child. The Malfoys only had children until their first boy which ought to only take one try. Merlin, did Lucius hope it only took one try. But he needed an heir, he needed it to be male, worthy of passing on the name to. And frankly, he wanted his son to look like himself. So that ruled out anyone who looked too unlike himself. He had never had a romantic feeling in his life before and sex, well, it never much interested him. Marriage wasn’t anything more than opportunity for the family and the need for an heir.
“Well of course you’re the best company I could ask for,” he said as though it were a given. Honestly, in many ways, it was a given. He wouldn’t be dating someone who weren’t the best. There was a very small list of people who would even be graced with Lucius’s company and Narcissa was at the top of the list truthfully. “Tell me, if not my beautiful face, what other would you prefer to see right now?” He asked with a grin. It would be helpful to weed out who he needed to rub elbows with to get in further with her--or which men he needed to keep an eye on as potential threats.
“Oh please tell my mother that next you see her, she would be thrilled to year it,” he smiled at the compliment. And though he played it off as a joke, it was true. His mother would love to hear for once that her son was smart, even if she was likely to tell Narcissa it was a lie. He was never sure which of his parents had the more impossible standards for him. “We’ll have to repair that fault immediately. And perhaps a trip to the symphony as well?  Something finally worthy of the time.”

rskeeter:
Rita grinned like a Cheshire cat. The relationship the blond had with the Malfoy’s was fairly uncomplicated. They’d slide her money on the side, and she’d turn a blind eye to a story that would effect their reputation negatively.
The majority of the time she was happy to oblige, though sometimes she’d publish the story anyway (after having taken the money of-course) and make it up to Abraxas by publishing a story that usually evened it out. After all, they were all fair game, at the end of the day, Rita would publish what bettered her career regardless of alliances. “One of the Greengrass girls is pregnant… the father’s a muggle born,” she said crinkling her nose.
The word on the street was they were going to try and pass it off as a pureblood but apparently the father had made a show in public. Poor sod, Rita thought to herself, he didn’t realise what he’d just done. The Greengrass girl would be out on the street by morning no doubt, her family would simply pretend she’d never exited. That was just the way it goes in their circle. When the waitress finally walked over, Rita ordered a black coffee, sweet. She took a puff of her cigarette, feeling her lungs burn.
“So Lucius how’s the ministry?” she asked, titling her head. “Still got those lot falling all over you?” Rita was more than aware that Lucius had easily gotten his job due to his families ties with the ministry. “Am i looking at the future Minister of Magic,” she joked. “Go on tell Rita what’s new in your life.”
Tumblr media
Rita, like most of Lucius’s friends, were someone who was of use to him. He didn’t see the point in befriending people who didn’t benefit him in some way. Narcissa brought her family name and strength, along with the possibility of marriage. Gregory Goyle brought the physical enforcement to Lucius’s words so that he wouldn’t need dirty his own hands. Rita kept the Prophet in the Malfoy family’s favor. And perhaps even better, brought him the best gossip of the day. That was always invaluable.
Lucius stared at her in disgust at the news. The Greengrasses were meant to be among the Sacred families. “Does no one have any taste any more? I should have thought they would know better. I know they were raised better than to think that was acceptable. It seems the good families are dwindling more and more. Is it not bad enough that one of the Blacks walked away?” he asked, rolling his eyes.
Not that it had ever been a thought in his mind for a moment, Lucius knew exactly what would happen to him if he were impregnate someone not of pureblood status. There would be a horrific ‘accident’ of untraceable nature costing both mother and child their life and Lucius would be lucky to be able to walk afterwards and certainly would be unable to leave home in quite a few weeks. To even befriend someone who was not a pureblood was risk enough and they needed to carry heavy benefits to Lucius.
“It’s the Ministry,” he said with a slight shrug of his shoulders as though that were explanation enough. “It’s certainly far better now that we’ve thrown out the trash. Even if that does mean more work for the rest of us.” Getting rid of those annoying Code 3 and 4s had cleaned things up considerably. Lucius still didn’t pour much effort into his job, even if the file one his desk were stacking up. But then his position was of much more use to The Dark Lord. “Me? Minister,” he let out a harsh laugh. “Oh darling, I think you’ve misunderstood me.” Lucius being Minister was his father’s dream, not his own, and one of a precious few he would dare deny Abraxas. “Why on earth would I want to be Minister? There’s far too much...effort involved in that. And you’re expected to act peaceably with the lesser bloods. And until there’s not an actual war brewing, I’ve no intention of that. Maybe after the blood pool has been properly decontaminated, I would consider it. But certainly not now.”

The weather was nice enough outside that Lucius deemed that it wouldn’t be a crime to sit outside at the little cafe. Typically he would far prefer sitting indoors, but it was just nice enough to be outside. Besides, people tended to be looser with their lips in open air, he could perhaps overhear something useful or interesting, something that would at least keep him entertained for a bit while he sipped at his drink.
He quirked a brow up at the blonde who suddenly seemed to take over his space. He didn’t mind Rita. In fact she was one of few whose company he enjoyed. She had her moments--especially when she decided to move forward with negative press about he or his family--but on the whole she was alright. Though the way she simply went on and on was certainly not flattering of her, he thought as he adjusted in his seat, crossing his legs.
“First of all, you know I don’t mind smoking. Just don’t get any ash on my clothing.” Lucius himself smoked from time to time. He didn’t particularly care for it, or even like it at all, bt it was about the aesthetic, the image it gave off. The look that said power and confidence and the way it made him slide in more easily with some of the other elites. “Second, I really don’t think I owe you at all, I’ve compensated you well enough, or at least I would have hoped.”
He leaned forward, waiving his wand at his coffee mug, setting the spoon stirring without a word. He always liked being able to do a bit of unspoken spell work and the easier spells were simple enough to do without having to speak. “I should think another coffee would certainly be the least you can offer me. But another of these and I won’t rest well tonight and we can’t have that. So why don’t you give me something I’d really want.” He curled over his cup, a cat-who-ate-the-canary grin on his lips. “What’s the newest gossip in town?”
Tumblr media
Shamelessly Rita sat down with a huff, placing the stack of papers she had been carrying down on the table – sure the table had already been occupied, but the seat had been vacant and the café was absolutely packed. So much so that the only free seat was outside on the street. The blond had been on her feet all day, she needed a break.
“I know what you’re going to say,” Rita started, pre-emptively making the first move. “You were here first. But I’ll only be five minutes, I’ve been running already all day chasing a lead so the likes of you can stay informed. Really you owe me this.”
– Rita reached inside her bag and pulled out a sliver tin box. “Don’t mind if I have a fag do you?” she asked, out of curtesy. She opened the box, and took out one of the slim white cigarettes, placing it between her lips. “We’re outside, so no harm done.”
After lighting the cigarette with her wand, she waves over the waitress. “Let me buy you another coffee, only fair,” she said, for the first time allowing the person opposite her to have a say in the conservation. “What are you drinking?”

“Fancy that, I’m sure a muggleborn who has been trained and works as a Healer knows much more about what they’re doing than you could ever hope to.” Her tone was clipped, Andromeda was never one to allow her emotions to take over – to control her. To behave in a way that was uncalled for, though it so often was. She had learned long ago that people sought out reactions, certain responses, they wanted you to prove them right. Long ago had she sworn to not give into that. That regardless of what was said, she would remain herself; and despite what so many thought of her, Andromeda was absolutely many things, and dignified happened to be one of them.
She also happened to be fairly opinionated with the belief that she was always right. Or the majority of the time, at least.
“To you, perhaps. We are different people, we want different things. Mistakes to you. Inevitable to me.” Many were fine hiding behind a façade, to fall asleep at night with the belief that they were better because of who they were. Andromeda never wanted to be better than other people, she didn’t care for that; she just wanted to be good.
“-And after all, those choices landed me here. With the thing that you so happen to need.” Potions for headaches at a concert seemed like the wisest choice, and as such, she had brought along quite a bit; and the irony that it was Narcissa who took the one before him was not lost on her.
Tumblr media
The rage shot through Lucius, fast and quick. There were only two people who could get away with disrespecting Lucius in such a blatant way and they both shared his last name. They disrespected him enough that he had sworn long ago that he would allow no one else to. If she weren’t Cygnus’s daughter and a Black, no matter how much of a disappointment, he likely would have stormed into the party and found Gregory to teach her a lesson in manners. Instead his blue eyes flashed cold as he sneered down at her. “I’ve been reading spell books and grimoires and potions tables and herbology texts since they were wetting their nappies. Someone I sincerely doubt that they could possibly know more.” His voice was cold and sharp like a razor as it hissed through his teeth. “And even if, in some absurd context we pretend that they do, I would assure their skill would not be as gifted as someone with proper blood.”
He took a deep breath, pressing down on the anger that had choked him. As much as he would like to bend her, press her until she broke, she still had use. She was still a pureblood. Still had a chance to be brought back into the fold. He let a smile drag across his lips, cold, nowhere near genuine, though he didn’t want it to be. He wanted her to remember that he still held the upper hand.
“Besides Andie dearest, is that really any way to speak to your sister’s boyfriend?” He asked, his tone sickeningly sweet. He didn’t even know if Andromeda was aware of their relationship and it was really of little concern to him. He could use his relationship with Narcissa to inch closer to Cygnus and just as easily turn it into a thorn to poke at Andromeda’s side.
Lucius gave a simple shrug of his shoulders. “I mistake is a mistake. Perspective hardly changes things.”  She was a bloodtraitor. It was all easy black and white to him. There was a test and she had failed. He opinion or her explanation changed nothing.
“They led to you working in a medical tent. I’m here as a benefactor tonight. It isn’t quite the same thing and I think I know which position I prefer,” He said easily, looking down at his hands and adjusting the family ring that encircled his finger. It was funny how she still thought she had won, that she had ended up somewhere good, when the very situation they found themselves in proved how very wrong she was.

The music was a racket, pounding against the inside of his skull. Why would anyone choose to listen to this mess? And how had the abhorrent muggle music managed to make its way into good wizarding society? It wasn’t just the magical strength of the wizarding world that was being tarnished by the mixing of blood, it was everything. How some people couldn’t see that was beyond Lucius.
But then he supposed some people for some reason liked it. Perhaps--maybe even probably--the man beside him enjoyed it because of his halfblood status. Lucius knew Tilden Toots, most people did from his sports commentary, even if it wasn’t Lucius’s topic of interest. And Lucius made sure to keep a good mental tally of any notable wizard and witch’s blood status. Halfbloods weren’t quite as bad he supposed, but they were still part of the problem.
“Hmm. The community gathering for a cause is good I suppose,” he said, looking around above the rim of his elven wine. “The music could be...more refined, though I suppose you’re used to hearing this sort of thing with all the matches you attend.”
Tumblr media
Tilden loved a party almost as much as he loved a quidditch game. He stood by the bar observing the crowd like a hawk. Maybe in a few drinks there he would be in the middle of the crowd with everyone else, but he wasn’t quite loose yet, and besides he had work to do.
A sports reporter is only a stone’s through from a gossip columnist and the party event of the season was bound to stir the pot. If he was lucky he might just run into someone who might give him the scoop on a distracted player or incompetent coach. If he was lucky he wouldn’t have to talk to any fans disappointed by his politics.
Spotting an intriguing target, he swallowed the last of his firewiskey and went in for the approach. He danced to the music trying to seem casual.
“Great concert! Nice to see the community coming together.”

HEADCANONS
LINEAGE – The Malfoy family only procreates until they have their first male offspring, so as to keep the bloodline clean and the money growing rather than being divvied among squabbling children
SEXUALITY – Lucius is aromantic and asexual; he could never truly love or want anyone more than himself. He’s not a completely sex-negative ace individual, he can and has had sex, it’s just not something he’s particularly interested in–he has more important things to worry about and he doesn’t find it all that interesting when it’s happening. And he’s certainly aro because, really, Lucius Malfoy loving anyone but himself is practically laughable
HOUSE ELVES – Lucius’s parents couldn’t be bothered to raise him. They both had more important things to do. So his raising fell largely to the House Elves. There was one elderly house elf, Maisel, who cared for him as a baby, would sneak him treats while he was a child, and showed him little bits of house elf magic to entertain him. She was the closest thing to a mother (or any sort of parental) affection he ever got. She died during his third year at Hogwarts, without so much as an owl from his parents. He simply returned at the end of term to find her no longer there and a young male house-elf (a Dob…something, Lucius didn’t bother learning the new elf’s name) tearfully telling him she had passed. He became even colder and more distant after that and still can’t so much as stand to look at the house-elf who delivered the news.

cissxblxck:
He had a smile on his face, and Narcissa liked that. She could never truly tell when he was happy. But, maybe the smile indicated he was? She wasn’t sure, but she was happy anyway. They’d been dating for a while now, and whilst she knew it might be advantageous for her to marry the Malfoy heir. She wasn’t too sure. She knew she’d have a good life if she did. But she was also only 23. She didn’t want to get married yet. Hopefully she’d be able to convince her father that she didn’t need to get married yet.
“Mmm. I suppose that is true…. Lucius….” She murmured, turning her body to face him, and away from the other riff raff that was here. “Mmm. That was a minor fault of mine. I really didn’t think this was your scene dear” It wasn’t exactly her scene either, but maybe she should have been a little more forward thinking, and asked him to go. She didn’t intend on actually staying around too much though, so maybe that was why she hadn’t thought to ask him.
“I totally agree….” She murmured, taking a sip of her wine as she looked at him. “Give me a classical opera any time….” She mused, a little amused grin on her face. “My plan is to leave as soon as I can. I’m already starting to get a migraine.”
Tumblr media
It was easy, he’d found, to manipulate most people. His parents were among the few that didn’t fall easily to his charms. But then he also knew better than to attempt using them on the likes of Abraxas and Salinda. His body could still remember the result of the few times he had tried. It was always better, he supposed, to listen to his parents. Everyone else was left to be his plaything, his to enjoy and manipulate as he saw fit.
Not, exactly, that he saw Narcissa as a plaything. No, she was more than that. She was not someone to be used and cast aside. He had too much respect for her to think of her that way. Instead he needed her on his side, wanted her by his side. There wasn’t anyone else worthy enough in the wizarding world to be given the Malfoy name. He had decided before they’d left school that, one way or another, she would be the one to take his name. And if, for some reason, he failed... Well there was no room for failure when you were a Malfoy. There never had been.
The smile on his face turned a bit more genuine, warming, only just slightly at the way she said his name. He’d made good progress with her so far. He could only hope it would keep going. “I suppose it isn’t my scene exactly. Or at all really. But you’re here at least, so there is one member of good company. More than I had expected when I arrived darling.” That final word felt strange and tainted on his tongue, not a word he was used to saying or hearing, but he pressed his smiled wider as he looked down at her.
He laughed lightly at her. “I’ve had a headache since the moment I stepped in. I suppose if we’ve been seen and made our family donations, well who could deny a young couple slipping away from a party?” He leaned forward and gave her a quick wink. “And perhaps while we’re away we’ll find a good time we can attend a proper opera together in the future, hmm?”

primumsemper:
The music (if it could even be called that) had been grating on the inside of Cygnus’ head for the better part of an hour. A headache dulled mostly by cheap scotch and cigarettes, a combination he had perfected decades before - the reasonable answer, of course, would have been to go get pain relief from the hospital tent. He had his reasons for avoiding such. The kind that did better not to think of, for the sake of keeping whatever red anger he felt at bay for however long he would be forced to be in public.
Not for the first time, Cygnus wondered why he had been sent to keep an eye on this. He knew better - one of the most trusted in the hierarchy of the Dark Lord’s soldiers, and a Black at that. If not himself, Druella would have been expected to make an appearance and a sizable donation. He loathed that it wasn’t his wife being subjected to this. As if he didn’t have better things to be doing, even if it was sitting in the privacy of his own home. If that was the case, at least, he would be free of the drunken idiots that kept rushing past.
Cygnus had stepped out of the bar tent for just a moment, trying to avoid a particularly loud group of teenagers, hearing the voice that pulled his attention. Lucius. Well, if it had to be anyone, better him than an alternative. “A clever woman, your mother,” he commented, raising his glass in greeting as he took a drink. “Can’t say it’s much that enjoyable, myself.”
Tumblr media
Lucius turned toward the voice directed his way and the faintest hint of a true smile pulled onto his lips. He had always liked Cygnus Black. He was a strong wizards from a strong family, one who cared deeply about keep wizarding blood pure and one of few as high as his father when it came to Voldemort’s chosen few. His father didn’t quite have the taste for Cygnus, there was a level of respect he supposed, but moreso a rivalry between the two men. Something similar to what he shared with Rodolphus he supposed. But the slight tension between the revered Black patriarch and his father only made him like the man more. It only showed him there were people who could stand up to Abraxas Malfoy. Even if he himself was not one of them.
“Well then, I suppose the Sorting Hat does tend to get things right. She could have done well in either of the proper houses,” he said, meaning, of course, that only Ravenclaw and Slytherin had any honor to them--Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs were pathetic at best, “but I suppose there were reasons he wound up in the lesser.” Though Ravenclaw had it’s good blood, it was nothing compared to his own out. Not that he would ever dream of saying such things to his mother. He knew exactly what kind of response Salinda would have to that. He put it from his mind and looked through the crowd. “And what of your family? Were all the women to wise to avoid it as well?”
Lucius sighed dramatically as he took a long sip from his drink. It would never do to be too drunk in public company, no matter how much the situation made him long to be. “I was going to make a sizeable donation. And I suppose I still will. But there will need to be...consideration made for the quality of the event,” he said pointedly.

gregorygoyle-sr:
Gregory smirked, or at least attempted to. He should have know Mrs. Malfoy wouldn’t be in attendance. His mother often told him that Mrs. Malfoy could make you or break you. Perhaps this was the reason his family were such hermits, only hosting lavish parties at the request of other powerful families. Like Gregory who held Lucius up so highly, for his parents had held the Malfoy’s before him nearly as high as he had did. His parents had always told him to never make their son angry or upset, which Goyle did his best to never do. In fact, he enjoyed Lucius’ company. His sharp tongue, his quick wit, and his high standards, everything that Goyle was not. It normally took 24-48 hours of him to come up with a come back and by then it was too late. It comforted Gregory to know that Lucius might need him when things got ugly.
He watched as Lucius took a drink, alcohol being Gregory’s drug of choice. He didn’t enjoy smoking cigarettes as smoke would get caught in his eye. Alcohol was the only way to cut loose. He ignored his eye rolling as he stopped an serving elf on their way to fill up their plate. “Oi, yew there, get me a sandwich and some of that candy, ya?” The elf startled by the sudden request blinked at Goyle. “Now,” he growled as he balled his right hand into a fist. The elf took notice rushing towards the tent quickly and later returned with different sorts of mini sandwiches and candy corn. “Leave the plate,” he said forcefully removing the platter from the elf’s skinny arms. The elf whimpered and returned back towards the tent. Goyle smiled grabbing two sandwiches before smashing them together and tossing some candy corn on top.
“Mum and dad don’t like these sort of things, ya know that,” he said while smacking his lips onto the sandwich. He chew a bit before speaking once more. “Oh yea, it was a work event or somethin’. We were handing’ out business cards and dat sort,” he said between a breath of sandwich. “It was my idea,” Goyle admitted proudly, although admittedly, it wasn’t the best idea to be networking among a charity for saving children when Goyle was advistering to kill magical animals. But, business what business, right?
Tumblr media
The Goyle family was not the best of the families in the wizarding world. They couldn’t stand up to the likes of Malfoys or Blacks. But their blood was largely pure and their coffers at Gringotts were full. Above all that though, they were useful. As much as Lucius cared for name and reputation, use was just as important. Andromeda was a blood traitor, but she was Narcissa’s beloved sister which meant she may help him win her hand. Severus Snape was a halfblood, but he was skilled in potions and would make a worthwhile Death Eater. Greyback was a filthy werewolf, but if Lucius could stay on his good side, that meant he didn’t have to worry about becoming one of those horrid beasts himself.
Gregory Goyle was not from the best family. And he was not very bright. And his magic (in Lucius’s opinion, whether in truth or not) was lesser than his own. But his fists added a weight to to Lucius’s threats that was unmeasurable. And that was far more important than any family name.
Lucius chuckled lightly at Goyle’s demands to the elf. He didn’t particularly care for elves or think they were deserving of respect, not since the one who had all but raised him had died at least. He knew others around them would likely bristle at Gregory’s gruffness but truthfully it was one of the things Lucius enjoyed. The man simply was. He simply demanded. It was a mentality he could relate to well. “You know if you’re going to make them bend to your requests so easily, you ought send them after some decent food.” He glanced at the smush of food now in his companion’s hands. Maybe that didn’t matter as much to him he supposed. “It’s good they at least know to listen. Too many elves these days thinking they ought to have their own rights or freedom. Ridiculous.”
Lucius sighed. “I don’t think anyone with reasonable taste would enjoy this sort of thing. I’d thought it only fitting I attend a charity event, but clearly I’ll have to look into things more the next time,” he said looking around. It was like a glorified muggle rock concert. It was disgusting. There was a reason muggle and wizarding worlds were kept separate. “Saving babies and killing creatures all at once? Well aren’t you the little entrepreneur?” Lucius said. It wasn’t the worst idea he’d ever heard come from Gregory’s mouth. But that was hardly a compliment. He tossed his blonde hair behind his shoulder. “A night like this really highlights just why we need to keep away from the muggles doesn’t it? Can you imagine if all wizarding events were like this? It would be unbearable.”

cissxblxck:
There was a very short list of people she actually wanted to talk to at this event. Sure, she would talk to anyone that did come up to her. She was a polite young lady after all. But there was very few people that made her list of people that met her standards. Most of the individuals at this concert did not, and she really had no seen anyone else that she would even want to talk too. She was considering finishing her drink, and then leaving. Surely she’d showed enough face now? She’d showed up, but a smile on her face. That was enough right?
Oh. Things looked like they might be improving though. “Mr Malfoy” The blonde murmured with a smile as she looked at the man. Now here was someone that made the list of approvable company. “It’s good to see you too. Lovely to see a respectable face in this crowd” Lucius was indeed a sight for sore eyes. Hopefully now people would be put off from talking to her, which she really would improve. “Come sit Lucius” She murmured, motioning to the empty chair next to her. He made good company indeed. “Oh. I agree. Concerts are really not my thing. I’m starting to get a headache actually”
Tumblr media
Lucius slid a warm smile on his face. They always felt strange on his face, foreign and not quite like they belonged. A genuine smile was rare for Lucius, but he had learned well enough how easily to imitate one over the years. At least with Narcissa he didn’t have to actively fight back repugnance to smile. He liked her, as much as he liked anyone at least. Perhaps more impressive, he well and truly respected her. She was a highly skilled witch, from a pure family with good reputation, and had more than earned her position within Slytherin.  It was why he had chosen to date her--why he had decided she would be the one to marry him.
“Please, Lucius is fine, I think we’ve moved past surnames, haven’t we?” He grinned as he sat beside her. “You should have told me you were coming this evening. We could have come together. Might have made the night a little better from the start.” He leaned back in the chair and looked at her. She really was quite pretty. It was just another benefit to her as a choice. “I can enjoy a good concern. But I need the music to actually be music, not whatever this noise is. This is just...” rather than bother finding a word for it, he rolled his eyes. It was absurd. “I’m not sure why anyone would think think would be property for a charity event.”

Andromeda had a list of people that she would be pleased to see at any moment in time – Lily, Ted, Sirius, her sisters even – Lucius Malfoy, however? He certainly wasn’t on it. There had been no sympathy from him, no semblance of understanding; and honestly, she hadn’t expected as much. She knew what she was getting herself into when she left, what sort of reputation she was creating for herself, and she fully accepted that.
It didn’t mean she wanted to see people from her old life, though. To deal with their remarks, their looks. It didn’t bother her, per say, it simply wasn’t an enjoyable experience.
Regardless – she was Andromeda Black, and no matter who was before her or what words were spoken, she would hold her head up high and carry herself with dignity. Even if others refused to see it. “I assure you Lucius, if you were ever severely injured and in desperate need of a Healer, you wouldn’t care who was tending to you.”
It was a fact she had learned long ago, having seen a fair share of code 1’s come and go from St. Mungo’s.
“-I assume by looking at you that nothing is severe right now, but I assume you’re here for something that I can help you with. If you’re willing to accept that I see no errors in my choices, of course.” A light, neutral voice with a smile on her face – she had gone through such interactions many times before.

Now that she, along with that awful little cousin of hers, had become a blood traitor, there were really only two good things about Andromeda in Lucius’s book. One, she was a Black. Blood traitor or not, the blood that ran through her veins was good, pure and powerful and would never be anything but. And at least until this most recent disappointment of a generation, the family name had held some power. Two, she was Narcissa’s sister. He knew how she felt about her sisters. And it was a disappointment really, especially that she still seemed to hold love for Andromeda. But it was what it was and Lucius had decided that, regardless of how his girlfriend felt about matters, Narcissa Black was the woman he was going to marry. She was the only one near good enough for him.
Maybe along with convincing Narcissa to marry him he could convince Andromeda to return to the right side of things and then the family he’d be marrying into would truly be worthwhile. And Cygnus certainly couldn’t deny him Narcissa’s hand then.
“I can assure you I would care very much. I wouldn’t want some mudblood who doesn’t know what they’re doing ruining the spellwork. Besides that doesn’t change the answer to if there’s anything you can do for me right now,” he said casually.
Lucius looked at her and scoffed. She couldn’t possibly be serious. “Well. Your choices certainly have plenty of errors. So no. I won’t be accepting that. Other than that-” He sighed dramatically and sat on one of the little cots. He might as well sit down for the time being if he was going to be here away from the mayhem. Just the fact that there needed to be a medical tent showed that this wasn’t any proper kind of fundraiser. “But if you have some kind of draught to help with a headache I suppose I would accept that.”
