“Go easy on yourself,” Yosano reminds Kunikida as he reaches for the doorknob to let himself out of her office.
“I will,” he agrees automatically.
“I’m being serious,” she says. His grip on the handle tightens. His fingers ache in protest. “It’s fine that you can’t work as fast or as much as you used to. Don’t push yourself past your limits.”
“I know,” Kunikida mumbles. He doesn’t look back at her—he can’t. He knows no one in the Agency is upset with him and he knows he simply must learn to live with his new reality. But that doesn’t ease the weight off his shoulders, nor does it erase the guilt.
He is supposed to be a support beam for the Agency, not the other way around.
Who is he if not the person everyone else can rely on?

I am a Kunikida had an emo phase truther and so just image Katai getting bribed by Dazai to give him a picture of Kunikida as a teenager.
Dazai's expecting dorky nerdy Kunikida in a suit or sweater vest at some school event.
What he gets instead is Kunikida yelling at a cop at a protest. His hair is in a high ponytail, with streaks of purple in it.
He's wearing a jean jacket filled with pins and patches. Fishnet gloves and flipping off said cop with one hand. And holding his notebook in the other.
Dazai is just staring, jaw dropped while Katai snorts in amusement.
Dazai's just like... I was robbed! We were robbed!

#NO SERIOUSLY#its so unfortunate because there are so many genuinely good moments#and it's a major part of Kunikida's arc#they kinda effed it by changing the timeline#and the iconic switching of partners scene was literally on their first mission tgt#i wish they would just release it as a bunch of ova epis 😭😭😭#they recently announced a reprint of the ln too#its just wishful thinking at this point but I'm hoping the sales numbers indicate something good :')
