“The morning of December the 16th. It was so cold, and I mean cold, that if you took an ice pick, and plunged it into the ground, you’d shatter the earth into a million pieces.”

Everything has a beginning and an end. Life is just a cycle of starts and stops. There are ends we don’t desire, but they’re inevitable, we have to face them. It’s what being human is all about

Another shoujo anime that I feel needs the fruits basket 2019 treatment is a lesser known one called “Yumeiro Patisserie”. It’s a super cute kids anime that didn’t get the love and attention it deserved and I feel like a reboot would help with that. Also, the timeskip season sucked really badly. Gotta get that out of the way.
The series was about a girl that has a very impressive taste palette but is an ametuer chef. However, seeing potential in her, a renowned pastry chef sends her to his school of talented pastry chefs to hone her skills. What makes Ichigo Amano such a good character and role model for young girls is that she fails in the beginning and only gets better because she refuses to give up. There’s a scene where she’s ready to leave the school and is waiting at the bus stop to go back home but instead she runs back to the school and uses the kitchen to practice until she gets it right. This even causes a sweets fairy to come to her because of the potential she showed(did I mention this is an anime for little girls? Cause there also little magical sweets fairies that help out young pastry chefs.) and we see her improve with both the help of her fairy and the help of her teammates, each being professionals in their own style of sweets.
Hanabusa, a Prince Charming type of character that is talented in floral sweets. These are desserts that incorporate floral elements like rose water and edible flowers.
Andou, a studious character that comes from a family of Japanese confectioners. He specializes in traditional Japanese sweets like mochi and wagashi.
And finally Kashima, the expert chocolatier and professional male tsundere of the group.
You can watch the whole series on YouTube and I feel like if it was ever dubbed into English, it would’ve been popular with little kids here. An updated art style would do the show well and also updating the baking techniques and recipes. With how popular things like raindrop cakes and all the viral YouTube desserts are nowadays, it would be cool to see them make those in the show.

Akimi Yoshida relied on actor River Phoenix to make Ash Lynx.
I made this sketch based on that.
