Trigger warnings: Parental dilemmas, chewing fingernails (not gore), Yui wanting a mother.

Notes: This is based on one of my headcanons, therefore isn't accurate by any means. I thought it would be interesting to write something based on the desire for a mother.

However, there was one album that he forgot about, a gift he received from a buddy since he found it half price in a closing sale.

Seiji knew that Yui liked spending time in the attic whenever she needed to recharge or wanted some alone time when she was frustrated, so he took on the extra chore of dusting and cleaning it for her comfort. He also knew that she enjoyed looking through his old mixtapes and cassettes prior to when he strived to be more pious.

That cassette was Kate Bush's 'Hounds of Love'.

She threw herself onto the couch, which was some hideous orange three-seater couch from the 60s, which had red wine stains and cigarette burns. Throwing herself on the couch broke another spring, causing her to let out a sigh, in hopes of controlling her already disagreeable temper.

Yui climbed up the rotting wooden ladder, the ladder where she received far too many splinters for one's patience. Getting another one only further fuelled her current exasperation.

After staring at the ugly paintings on the wall while trying to calm herself, she noticed a hint of lilac, tucked between one of the Metallica and Whitney Houston albums. Yui didn't recognise, or even see this tape before, so she approached it, being under the assumption that her eyes were betraying her.

"Hounds... Hounds of Love...?", Yui said aloud, being confused with this coquettish looking woman and the peculiar title.

She wiped the caked on dust off the album, to see a beautiful woman laying down in a purple dress, being between two sleeping dogs, comfortably resting their heads on her shoulders.

She sat on the desk next to it and listened to the bizarre lyrics and instrumentals, along with the woman's interesting voice, which was something she's never heard before.

After doing more of a clean, she slipped it into the cassette player, and flipped on to a random track of the album.

The word 'mother' appeared a lot in the song.

Which made the young girl think about the lack of a mother in her life. Sure, she had the nuns, but they're not... A mother.

"Mother will hide the murderer..."

Why couldn't she have that too?

This verse made Yui's stomach drop, and her love coloured eyes sting. She hated to think about mothers, because they always made her distressed and envious.

Why did God deny her that simple luxury?

Why didn't He give her that privilege?

She wanted to feel that kind of connection with the woman who brought her into this world, but unfortunately that would never happen.

It's only natural that a girl of Yui's circumstances would be curious about the woman who gave her life. Yet... Yet it shouldn't feel like such a taboo subject when she'd bring it up to her father. It made her worry about what kind of person her mother was and what kind of person Yui would grow up to be.

The lamenting tone of the song didn't help her. Not one bit. As well as the odd sound effects in the song.

But above all, she began to question her father. The mother in that song knew her child was up to no good. The mother protected her child. Mother stayed mum. She loved her father more than anything, he is her whole world. But can he give her that kind of unconditional love? Granted, he's a priest and is bound to forgive the most heinous of wrongdoers. What if she wronged her as his daughter though? Would he still cherish and protect her like the mother in the song?

This hypothetical conundrum was making Yui's head spin and making her gnaw on her already marred fingernails, and the scabbed skin surrounding it. This was the only thing stopping her from completely shutting down or sobbing for endless hours, until she wore herself out.

Love doesn't believe in ethics. And maternal instincts overrule any type of morality. But Father is a priest, he's bound by the word of God, and that means morals upon morals. He dictates, not protects.

A mysterious figure with an unusual name. Affiliated with the church lead by Seiji Komori, Noctis was sent to the Sakamaki Mansion under false pretenses as a "Sacrificial Bride" in order to ruin Cordelia's plan and gain the Sakamaki brothers as allies for the sake of the assassination of Karlheinz, as well as to stop future women to be sacrificed to vampires. Unable to bear the thought of dooming his adopted daughter Yui Komori, Seiji forged a plan to train and send a powerful demon whose memories he took, to doom the Vampires. If Noctis were to die as a result of the plan, he would feel no guilt, as she is not human. She believes she is human, as she spent her time living among them.

Personality

Noctis is a very calm and patient person, who could snap fast if someone acts unreasonable. She's very defiant to the vampires and doesn't tolerate their abusive behavior towards her, often engaging in physical fights with some of them. The mistreatment results in her getting dependent on alcohol and she is sometimes seen drunk during school hours in HDB. Despite appearing like an honor student at first glance, Noctis tends to engage in delinquent behavior. Despite of this, she is a responsible person that manages to complete her tasks decently, such as supervising Ayato and Laito to make sure they do not to cause trouble at school under Reiji's order. Noctis likes to throw sassy remarks at the vampires. She often gets in unnecessary trouble for running her mouth. She takes joy in teasing Ayato and Shin, who are quick to lose their temper, which she finds humorous. Noctis' has a resting face which makes her seem cold and serious, but it is easy to get a reaction out of her. She keeps her thoughts and feelings to herself and rarely shows compassion towards the vampires as to keep herself safe and not give them an opportunity to use her weak points against her. Rather than showing pity, she gives them advice from a rational perspective. She's very analytic and observant. Laito managed to break her cold barrier by constantly toying with her emotions for his own amusement, mainly enjoying the new expressions she makes by provoking her and putting her in situations that would cause her to show fear. His little games of psychological manipulation slowly resulted in Noctis showing more emotion and eventually warming up to the Vampires in More Blood.

Appearance

In most outfits, Noctis is seen wearing a heart choker on her neck and on her thigh to make biting more bothersome to the vampires. It serves as an extra protection measure.

She is always carrying a lighter with her.

Trivia

With her drinking habits, Noctis developed spitting fire using alcohol and a lighter as a special skill.

Noctis hates cranberry juice as a result of drinking it too much to restore her iron levels.

When Reiji nags her too much, she jokingly starts calling him "Ossan" (おっさん) meaning "old man." Here, she refers to him or any other vampire as a grandpa due to how old they are.

Opposite to Yui, Noctis is a demon with a "human heart." Due to her memory loss, she was treated like a human by the church and learned their morals and values.

Noctis has a reflex that causes her to punch what causes her fear. For example, If someone were to jumpscare her, they would get punched by accident.

As a result of sharing a roof with 6 men, Noctis started to adapt manly speech mannerisms, such as using "ore" instead of "atashi" when referring to herself.

||hey! She's just an ordinary girl from an ordinary orphanage. She has an older brother who obviously wanted to get her out of there, but Karlheinz managed to do it first and now she is prey to most of the clans.

Clearly it is not a better made mc, perhaps a remastering would be good, but for now it is what I have.||

Nodding and trying not to have a breakdown, Shoma sighed heavily, looking down still.

“... So I asked Varick what he thinks would be a good Christmas present for you,” she spoke, clearly trying. “and then, without looking away from his phone, he says 'Not to worry, he's in the basement'...”

There was a short silence while she looks at Ryuuto in the eyes. Shoma's dead inside.

“So I asked him, what in the holy mother of God does he mean by that. And then he looks up at me and said to me 'Obviously I mean Laito. We'll have Ryuuto hunt him for sport', and I was looking at him in horror for ten minutes.”

Another short silence, then she sighs.

“I need you to please understand that, as much fun it'll be for you, things will get messy in the political way if I don't say anything to Varick soon.”

As Shoma walks in, her expression is... sort of complicated. She seems to be sweating bullets, but she remains with a neutral face. As soon as Ryuuto is seen, she quickly walks up to him from behind and places a hand on his shoulder.

“... We have a situation.”

She knows it's a terrible way to start this conversation, but there was no other way around it.

“And I need you to promise me that you won't freak out... or enjoy it too much.”

(( Feel free to ignore this, it was just a silly idea-

With an arched brow, Ryuuto turns to face Shoma.

Starting a conversation with the words "promise me that you won't freak out" wasn't the most comforting but, on the other hand, the second-half of that sentence did see him perk up a little.

"While I can't promise anything..." He did let a faint fang or two peek through with a slight smirk, "Pray tell, what's this situation?"

Scent: Yuriko doesn’t use perfumes because those are too much for her sensitive nose, but there is a hint of pine in her scent. If she has spent a lot of time forest, there might be other forestry-like scents lingering too. Because Yuriko loves both lavender and vanilla shampoo, her hair usually has a delicate scent of either one of those. And of course, there is a faint but bit feral scent of kitsune in her. Though only other supernatural beings and some animals are able to smell that. When she transforms either partly or fully to her fox form, this feral scent becomes her main fragrance.

Style

Yuriko has golden-framed glasses. When her eyes are teal (human eyes) she has nearsightedness hence she needs glasses to see far. But when her kitsune eyes activated she doesn’t need glasses. So far she hasn’t been able to transform her eyes at will.

School

At school, Yuriko wears Ryoutei Academy’s school uniform but she usually leaves the blazer out and uses a beige cardigan instead. The cardigan gives her a safe feeling of hiding.

General

Yuriko prefers using clothes that are both comfortable and cute. She likes feminine style and usually wears a skirt instead of pants. Though sometimes she likes to use shorts too. She loves light tops but covers herself often with her signature pink hoodie but she also likes to use off shoulders shirts and sweaters.

Underwear

As for underwear, Yuriko prefers comfortable panties and bras with tiny printed patterns (i.e. flowers, hearts, ribbons…), but she also likes lace. So, every now and then she chooses fully laced underwear, these days more often because she knows that Ruki enjoys seeing her like that.

Yuriko is a kind and sweet girl who tries to see the good in everybody. Still, she has trust issues because of her past experiences and she struggles to see her own value. Usually, she puts others before herself and tries to please them, sometimes neglecting her needs and wishes. It’s possible that she can even put herself in a dangerous situation to please and keep someone in her life.

HISTORY

Before Yuriko was born

Yuriko’s parents, Keisuke and Hisoka, fell in love with each other and they had a happy relationship at first. They got married and a few years later their son, Yuuto, was born. When Yuuto was 4 years old, his eyes turned to the same shade of yellow as his mother’s, but that wasn’t all. His fingertips started to go fiery with blue flames whenever he got angry. Hisoka told Keisuke she was a kitsune and revealed that Yuuto must have inherited her powers.

Unfortunately, Hisoka also told her family about their son, and the kitsune came for him. They left Hisoka alone though, but made sure that she knew what kind of punishment would await her if she ever came back to the kitsune realm in a far corner of the Demon World.

Childhood

Hisoka told Keisuke she wanted another child, but Keisuke didn’t agree. Even though he didn’t like the idea, Hisoka got pregnant with Yuriko whose kitsune powers started acting out even earlier than Yuuto’s. She was only one year old when her eyes turned yellow and her foxfire activated. Though Keisuke didn’t ever ask for a daughter, he paid for a magical operation to block her powers. He decided he wanted his son back and do the same operation for him. He never forgave his wife.

After the operation, Yuriko lived a rather normal childhood and made a couple of friends in kindergarten and grade school. She was close to her mother, and they did a lot of things together but her mother felt distant and sad. Yuriko figured that it was somehow her fault, so she always tried to be better. Her father was nearly never home and when he was, he wasn’t really interested in Yuriko. Still, Yuriko considers that her childhood was at least happy enough.

Middle School

When Yuriko turned a teenager, she started to realize better that there was no pleasing her father. Nothing was ever good enough no matter what she did, yet she still did her best. Her mother tried to be there for her, but she felt distant and depressed more often than earlier. The only place where Yuriko had a chance to shine was school and she got good grades in most of the subjects, but English was always hard for her.

In the last year of middle school, Yuriko met Haruko, a fiery girl who had the most beautiful smile in the world. They became fast friends, though slowly Yuriko started to realize that there was probably more to it. She knew her father would never accept her dating a girl, so she did her best to hide her feelings.

Around this same time, Yuriko entered a mystical forest as a fox in her dream. There she met another white fox, and they ran through the woods together. These dreams started to occur regularly, and the white fox began to feel like a friend to her. Back then Yuriko had no idea that the fox was actually Yuuto, her big brother, whom she had never even heard of. After Yuuto had learned his dream walking skill, he tried to connect with his parents but instead, he ended up drawing Yuriko into his dream space, the In-Between. At first, he didn't know who she was but by creating the connection he was able to enter her normal dreams too. Finally, he realized that Yuriko was his little sister he had never met before.

High School

Yuriko and Haruko ended up in the same high school and grew closer really fast. Before midterms, Haruko asked Yuriko to meet her behind the school where she confessed and asked her out. Even though the mere thought was scary Yuriko said yes. Girls decided to hide their relationship at school, but they spent almost all their free time together and shared their first kiss when they went on a trip to the ocean shore during summer vacation.

At the same time, things went even worse at home. Yuriko’s father was around even less than before, and her mother didn’t seem to be motivated to do anything anymore.

Yuriko decided to concentrate on school and Haruko. But in the autumn that became hard too. At first, Haruko started to want things Yuriko wasn’t ready to give her, and that led to arguing. Then their classmate saw them holding hands and kissing in a corner of a small café and rumors started to spread through the school. The bullies followed soon and while girls tried to stand against them, it was useless. In the end, Haruko broke up with Yuriko and finally transferred to a different high school before the year ended.

When Yuriko’s second year of high school started, she was still devasted because of Haruko. That affected her grades, but she still tried her best in school. She didn’t have friends anymore because the girls thought she was a freak who was after them.

Later that year Yuriko’s mother went suddenly missing, leaving only a note where she asked Yuriko to take care of herself and her father. What Yuriko didn’t know back then was that Hisoka wanted her redemption and went back to the kitsune, trying to get Yuuto home. She never came back because her relatives punished her for running away.

After that bullying got even worse, and Yuriko eventually stopped going to school. She spent most of her days in the library reading books, drowning herself in gothic romance novels which were a dark and intense but great escape from everything. Another safe haven for her was her dreams of the white fox. Sometimes she felt like the fox was trying to talk to her, but she couldn’t understand him. Yuriko stopped to live her life and absorbed herself in books and dreams. Naturally, she failed her third year, and her father was furious with her.

Keisuke had been tracking down the kitsune ever since his wife went missing, and by the time Yuriko failed her third year he had found out that the entrance to the kitsune realm was somewhere near Kaminashi City. He got a job in the city and transferred Yuriko to the local high school, the Ryoutei Academy, without knowing what kind of students there were in that school.

Keisuke had also found Hisoka’s diary and knew now that the kitsune had fewer females than males. He became sure that he could get his son back if he would give Yuriko to her relatives. His only problem was that he couldn’t contact the kitsune and didn’t know the exact location of the gate to their realm or how to open it. Hisoka’s diary only revealed that Keisuke needed the kitsune blood to open the gate, but he had it in Yuriko’s veins. The key and the commodity at the same package.

Ryoutei Academy

In her new school, Yuriko soon ran into an excellent student who took a sudden interest in her and especially her blood. Mukami Ruki decided to make her his possession. He saw her as mere livestock with surprisingly tasty blood, but when their destinies slowly entangled with each other, she became much more than that. And from Yuriko’s point of view, she had finally met someone who wasn’t going to leave her no matter what. Though this person happened to be a vampire who scared her at first, in the end, she was willing to give up her old life and start forever with Ruki. And because of him, she could reveal her true heritage, too.
