Winter Light by @westofmoon. This is a whimsical masterpiece and I love it so much. The longing, the sad confusion and the little spoiler I worked out for myself has me obsessed.
Noisy Neighbours by @thewraithsofmorhogg. It hurt so good and I thrived on it. I’m a sucker for angst and this delivered tenfold. This one is on the top of my reread list.
If I Had a Soul to Steal by @highqueenofelfhame. Continuing with the angst this one gets me too. What I love about this one is Rowaelin trying to be noble and fight their feelings but it just doesn’t work out that well.
Dark Roast, No Sugar by @whimsicallyreading. I love a good crime story and this one delivers. It includes one of my favourite kind of Rowans where he’s reluctantly feeling and he’s a little mad about it. There is also some quality Fenrys content in this one.
Cruel Summer by @charincharge. This is a quality friend-with-benefits situation and it made me laugh out loud so many times. I just love a good story about these idiots fighting their feelings, though honestly Rhoe might be the real MVP of this fic.

This is just a great post. It really baffles me how people can say that she is weak and useless. That girl has been through so much trauma and managed to be happy and see the positive side of things.
Okay so at this point I seriously don’t give a shit who Elain ends up with as long as it’s her choice. As it stands, it looks like that is Azriel because she is genuinely attracted to and connects with him (and don’t you ever forget that is something mutually felt between them). This chick got:
kidnapped
drowned
forced into a mating bond she didn’t want
vilified by someone she thought she had a future with
misunderstand by even her own sisters and for a second lost her own freaking sanity
has had ONE SINGLE PERSON (Azriel) try to understand her
was kidnapped AGAIN
watched her father be murdered
killed the freaking King of Hybern with a borrowed knife
almost lost her two sisters multiple times
was brutally ridiculed by the one sister who should’ve understood her most
Is trying her best to find a place she can help the others but is told she’s not strong enough
FINALLY she wants to be with someone who she likely feels guilty for being attracted to instead of who she’s “supposed” to want
She deserves to be the one to choose who she gets to spend the rest of her existence with. She’s been taking these blows like a freaking champ and rolling with what she’s been forced into. She should get what is right for her, just like the others. She deserves an entire book dedicated to her finding where she belongs no matter what it looks like in relation to the other characters.
DO NOT PRETEND LIKE SHE IS WEAK JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS FREAKING HOBBIES AND IS BEING STRONG ENOUGH TO TRY TO FIND HAPPINESS IN HER DUMPSTER FIRE OF A SITUATION. SHE IS PORTRAYING A DIFFERENT KIND OF STRENGTH FEW PEOPLE HAVE. SORRY SHES JUST INTO FLOWERS AND NOT DAGGERS EVEN THOUGH SHES ALWAYS BEEN WILLING TO USE ONE WHEN NEEDED.

I was inspired by @knowyourbook Elriel headcanon post.
Idk if it would be okay to post this on yours, but here it is:
"Elain gently cupped Azriel's face in her hand. The shadowsinger leaned in to her touch as Elain caressed her thumb along his cheeck. Another tear falling from his eyes.
Azriel did not break his stare from Elain's eyes as he put a hand on top of hers, his lips curving up on a smile.
Elain noticed he was not entirely covered by his shadows. They were softly touching the edges of his shoulders and circling around his wings in a slow dance. It has always seemed the shadows were at ease whenever Azriel was with her. They were peaceful and calm, lighten, as if they knew the shadowsinger was happy and comfortable and safe, relaxed. Azriel sighed deeply, if there was a slight of tension left on his posture, it had all vanished at that moment. Like he could finally breathe right for the first time in 500 years."

There was a good chance that she could draw from the Gate as well, she supposed. But what if the Dead Gate was somehow different? What if she went to summon power, only to lose all of hers? She couldn’t risk it. Bryce got to her feet, hands shaking. The Starsword lay between her and the Shepherd. Hunt’s lightning had stopped. Where was he? Would a mate know, would a mate feel—
and in acowar we have these scenes when elain was captured.
Varian angled his head. “So you three … because you were Made, you can hear it? Sense it?” “It would appear so,” Amren said, looking inclined to tug him back to wherever they’d been, to finish what they’d no doubt still been in the middle of doing. But Azriel asked softly, “What about Elain?”
From the shadows near the entrance to the tent, Azriel said, as if in answer to some unspoken debate, “I’m getting her back.” Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azriel’s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows. Nesta said, “Then you will die.” Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, “I’m getting her back.”

What's more interesting is that Elain was bound with chains.
Elain was in her nightgown. Gagged, wrists wrapped in steel that glowed violet. Her eyes went wide as she saw us—Azriel and me—
we know from Feyre that she couldn't feel Rhys when he was bound with them.
I stared at my palm—at the eye inked there—and sent a blind thought through it, down that bond. Where are you? Tell me and I’ll come to you. I’ll find you. There was no wall of onyx adamant at the end of the bond. Only endless shadow. Things—great, enormous things—were rustling in the forest. Rhysand. No response. The last of the light slipped away. Rhysand, please. No sound. And the bond between us … silent. I’d always felt it protecting me, seducing me, laughing at me on the other side of my shields. And now … it had vanished.
They’d found strange chains of bluish stone to spread his arms, suspending him from either wall of the cave. His body sagged from them, his back a ravaged slab of meat. And his wings …
Lastly we have azriel saying this to cassian...
Cassian stared toward the castle. “You think she’s alive?” The question haunted him with every breath these last few days. “You’d know if she’d died,” Azriel said, pausing his work and looking up at Cassian. He tapped his brother’s chest with a scarred hand. “Right here—you’d know, Cass.”

Thinking back on the Azriel POV, what I found very telling is that once we are inside Azriel’s head, we find out that his thoughts revolve strictly around Elain.
Supposedly, he had this great love for Mor, for half a millennia, and there are still those in the fandom who claim that he isn’t over Mor.
Yet at no point does he ever think about Mor.
He doesn’t compare Elain to Mor. He doesn’t recall anything connected to Mor. His mind is entirely empty of Mor and her presence, and completely filled with Elain. Furthermore, when Rhys questions him about Mor, he doesn’t answer. He completely ignores the question, as if he is almost surprised that someone would ask him about her. As if she is so outside of his emotional attachment that there is nothing to discuss.
For him, internally, there is no inner battle. Like his choice has been made and it’s Elain. He doesn’t waver, he doesn’t even bother pretending in front of Rhys that he could possibly be interested in someone else–it might have helped him in that particular situation, but he doesn’t allow himself to go there. It’s Elain or nothing for him.
