One of my least favourite dialogue tropes is when a man tells a woman, “You can’t do that” or “I wouldn’t do that if I were you” and she says, “Why? Because I’m a woman and therefore too weak to handle this/can’t take care of myself?” or something to that effect and the guy replies with, “No, because everyone who tried that ended up with a bullet in their brain” or something equally reasonable and not gender-specific that paints him as the rational not sexist guy and the woman as an irrational paranoid feminist who searches for sexism in everything. This whole scenario is built on the idea that sexism is over and women’s fears and suspicions don’t have a leg to stand on. It’s also self-congratulatory pseudofeminism bc it’s supposed to make the viewer/reader/listener feel that in this specific work of fiction women are treated respectfully and as equal with men.

Ushijima having nearly fluent English proficiency and the rest of the team is like "sure his dad is in america that makes sense ig" until Shirabu one day is like "wait no his dad is Japanese why would they need to speak English?" and Ushijima is always really confused by their questions. Leon asks like "hey how did you get such good English?" and Ushijima is like "Practice and repetition???" which doesnt help any of them figure out why until they eventually write it off as like "well Ushijima tends to be an overachiever, whatever" and move on. It isn't until Tendou hears Ushijima explain that he did, indeed, learn English because his father moved to America that he's able to piece together that that he doesnt mean "I learned it to communicate with him" but rather "I learned it because I thought I'd be able to go with him," and that evidently that didnt work but the skills stuck around anyway. just in case.

my friend was testing perfumes out at the store and she sniffed a bottle and anounced "ngl this bitch kind of sucks" The girl at the counter suddenly looked really sad, and my friend was like "I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about you." And the girl looked up and said "No don't worry, I didn't think that, but I just crushed a ladybug with my shoe" We both took a peak over the counter. she'd stepped on a red m&m

zukka au where aunt wu looks straight at sokka and instead of telling him that his future is full of pain and anguish caused by his own hand, she tells him that he’s going to marry the fire lord and sokka is like “EXCUSE ME?”

(some of) shiratorizawa in the demon slayer universe! part one of hq in demon slayer here
I think the top 3 aces (Ushijima, Sakusa, Kiryu) are all hashira, the highest ranking demon slayers. They lead their teams on missions and Shiratorizawa is known for its incredibly high success rate, regardless of the strength of the demon. It's probably partially because exhashira Washijo (the Shiratorizawa coach) is so pocky about who he selects as students.
Finding the lower and upper moons (the strongest demons) is difficult, so they don't usually run into them. The first and last time they did, Ushijima handled it single-handedly, earning himself the rank of hashira. Being left handed isn't as much of an advantage in the demon slayer verse as in haikyuu, but it is still useful because Ushijima uses a different version of the breathing forms. This means that even if he runs into a demon familiar with demon slaying techniques, he can still take it by surprise. Though he did have to put in lot of work initially to make the forms left-handed.
Trying to incorporate Tendou's whole Guess Monster thing provides a lot of options! He could be like Genya, who eats demons and gains their abilities, but this to me feels a little too literally monstrous. Instead, I think he got his nickname from being able to guess exactly how strong a demon is and how many people it's eaten at a glance. While this is incredibly useful, it creeps almost everyone out, especially when he was younger and didn't have much experience. "How could he possibly know that?" was a common question amongst the corps. He is also very good at guessing what people are thinking or what breathing style they use.

it goes against so much of what i stand for to share "palestinians are humans, they have hobbies, they have pets, they laugh and cry" kind of posts because i've spent so much of my life and career completely rejecting the notion that we should humanize ourselves, that we should ever be defensive, that we should entertain this racism at all
but it breaks my heart when i have to share them from people in gaza, who are using their five minutes of internet connection, their 25% of battery charge collected from a macguyvered car battery, emotionally exhausted, thirsty and hungry, sleeping in schools that have turned into refugee shelters and still making the time to say "please, i am human too, i am still alive, please fight for me" in english to appeal to the only people who have the power to help
i shared a tweet from a jjk artist in gaza i follow about a bts photocard being found in the middle of the rubble. even the love of anime and kpop and sports is no longer just a hobby, but an appeal to humanity. what was once a source of joy is now proof of life.
the worst part is that you won't find this content in arabic. palestinians don't post like this in arabic. but when they translate themselves, they recognize that they must humanize themselves first. it's an unspoken understanding of dehumanization, one that has dictated a whole region's understanding of the value of human life. in arabic they speak with dignity, with anger, with sorrow. in english, they appeal for their existence.
i share these posts not just because we have to reach everyone we can, because im being asked to and i will not refuse. but i also share them because they're evidence of how deep the racism has run. at what dehumanization leads to. of war crime after war crime. this too i will not forget.
