The moment when Homen decided to join his Blue Ynts in their war against White Ynts under Pinto Bunyan’s command. Basically, a father-son struggle which was resolved via , you know , heavenly intervention* … *By it, I mean stealing a crown from Pinto … **Took a bit of time, the structure kinda sucks and whole vision kinda hitted the wall when I ended it ; still really impressive for me as I’m not into mass scenes :)

whole buncha drawings ive done over the past few weeks but havent posted, trying to collect them all in one place. all of them are from discord

this started as a character design exercise, but i liked it so much i made it into an actual oc! so, meet drayden! more info under the cut

drayden was created by homen as a perfect soldier and bodyguard- strong, nimble, and ruthless. homen had intended to make more soldiers, but ultimately decided the ynts offered enough protection. so, homen let drayden roam free and travel wherever he wished. in the time he spent with homen, the king trained him personally, and drayden picked up on both his techniques and his attitude. after traveling for a few centuries and further honing his combat abilities, drayden stumbled upon the neverhood, and decided to stay there. he still writes letters to homen, and occasionally visits him, as he considers him a father figure. drayden is loyal to homen to a fault- his word is law, and homen comes first before all others.

personality-wise, drayden is similar to homen. he is rude, aggressive, temperamental, and cunning. he’s always eager to fight- its what he was built to do. he can often be quite dense, and isnt very knowledgeable in anything other than weaponry and combat. if befriended(a difficult but doable task), drayden’s attitude mellows slightly, and he shows more of a genuine curiosity with the world around him. he is also blindingly loyal- he’ll defend friends to the death and obey any orders given, so long as they dont conflict with an order from homen.

drayden has no mouth, and cannot speak or eat. he does make a deep rumbling/growling sound on occasion that seems to emanate from his chest. he communicates through sign language or writing. the two large appendages on either side of his tail act as counter-balances for when he’s fighting, helping him to land on his feet. he has an interest in weapon/blacksmithing, and often crafts weapons and tools to pass his time on the neverhood.

having been built as a royal soldier and bodyguard, drayden is loyal to all of quater’s sons, but he will always respond to homen’s words over all others.

It seems this crown does more than give you reign over The NeverhoOd. It’s also your secret to life! What. A. Pity!
