this is about being so brutally honest. pulling no punches. from anyone including herself. the people who were saying the album is so much about matty failed to understand that she was dragging herself by putting those on the album. she was facing the feelings she felt even though it was probably agony to realize what she was actually going through. this is catharsis.
STEVIE NICKS WROTE "SHE WAS JUST FLYING THROUGH THE CLOUDS WHERE HE SAW HER SHE WAS JUST MAKING HER WAY TO THE STARS WHEN HE LOST HER" FOR TAYLOR SWIFT AND SIGNED IT "FOR T - AND ME" AND I AM SUPPOSED TO BE NORMAL??????????
Also this album plays with humor in ways Taylor hasn't experimented with before and as with everything else she tries, she absolutely NAILS how to do it in a tasteful way.
I just think TTPD is not an album you can understand and fully digest in one listen or even a few listens and that's what makes it so great. It is accessible in terms of its melodies and high-level storytelling but the lyrical details are poetic and complex. I'm really just so excited to spend a lot of time with this album.
