TONIGHT'S CHATROOM IS LIVE!
The chat theme for Chatrooms III: CLiCK CLiCK CLiCK is inspired by the contemporary resurgence of feminism, and our desire to ignite conversation about the representation of women in both art and technology.
How are women being represented – or not represented – online? Is the underrepresentation of women in the art world related to capitalism in the art market? How can we solve the problem of gender inequality in the worlds of art AND tech?

Very happy to see Lorna Mills' Ways of Something (which we debuted in SF for Chatrooms I) on this terrific list!

Maybe the antiquated, catch-all term “net art” should be applied very loosely to this group, unless you’d like to get into a long, footnoted discussion about the latest art lexicon update in the age of (or rather, after) the Internet. This year in particular, the web-enabled stand-out artworks were accessible, obsessive, interdisciplinary and ballsy.

Flaunt Magazine - LaTurbo Avedon
Back in December 2013, I wrote a piece about artist render LaTurbo Avedon who creates artworks in digital realms, and I have just discovered it has been posted on Flaunt’s website:
We are in an era of black mirror devices, where HD screens and 3D graphics—and our communication within that technology—are ubiquitous, reciprocal, faster, and richer. Consequently, social media is the global village. But the designs and means with which people present and receive themselves online is fragmented and piecemeal; profiles are interconnecting points of information—a polygon surface, a mediated structure. This environment—a culture where digital technology and reality merge—is where LaTurbo has become a presence outside of Second Life.
You can read the whole piece (including a Google Hangout interview with LaTurbo, myself, and online artist / curator Krystal South) here

CHAT CHAT CHAT CHAT CHAT!
The live chat theme for Chatrooms II is inspired by Brian Droitcour’sThe Perils of Post-Internet Art, which defines the term ‘post-Internet art’ as alluding to a hazy contemporary condition and the idea of art being made in the context of digital technology.
The definition of 'post-Internet art' is still being written, as is the entire era of art history describing art making after the Internet. In adding to this dialogue, we invite your responses to the following:
What’s the worst part of the Internet and digital technologies in relation to the art world? What’s the best part? And, finally, what’s still possible?
