Imagine your mind got stolen. You thought she had a crush on you, but no, she only wanted you for your brains because she thought they would go well with her brains.
From now on, you’re sharing heads with this crazy monster who really likes you. She stole your intelligence and gift of language… and it is a fine intelligence at that, so, it would be best if you continue to be the POV, but you have their insight too, so don’t leave out their opinion. (It’s best if you get along, as you’re sharing the same body now)
Questions for the opinions:
1. If written in the past tense, when is the right time to start including her insights / opinions as well? How to make it smooth and not choppy?
2. What if she was just another POV from the beginning? Likely one told by the main character, in third person? Would it be digestible to have a third person and first person POV?
3. Thoughts / opinions?

What do you do when you’re a pantser
…and the hero hurts their friends?
What do you do when he should romance her,
…but he’d rather get revenge?
Well, you write it all over,
And you hope it will recover,
But murder comes back with dividends!
Second verse, better than the first!?
What do you do when you’re a pantser
…and the story suddenly ends?
What do you do when she was a monster,
…and would prefer apocalypse over amends?
Well you write it all over,
Maybe you didn’t know her,
Give someone else o-pinions!
EVERYBODY NOW!!!!

It seems like folks have preferred the term writer over author. Is that a thing? Is there a nuance I’m missing?

I am in the midst of creation of an interactive novel that just gets bigger and bigger.
How ludicrous is it to have extremely different variations on the story line, where a multitude of epic tales could be told… depending on the selections made by the reader. As an author, I can support, digital media makes it not like 10000000 pages is a problem…. So, what’s the issue?
For example, it could be a romance story, and there’s multiple directions the romance could go…. It could be an action story that gets scary… it could turn into an apocalypse….
How does that even work in the marketplace? Does anyone have recommended editors, publishers, tools, etc? (I don’t want to make a game, I’m making a novel with multiple growth paths.)
Has anyone seen this / attempted this before?

Earth is basically a fantasy world with an overzealous writer
Writer: “Hey, can I show you my new fantasy world?”
Editor: “Sure, let me take a look…”
Writer: “Thanks! I’d love to know what you think.”
Editor: “Wait, I’m confused. Where’s the habitable zone? It looks like you’ve got lifeforms covering the entire planet.”
Writer: “Oh right, so this is cool. The idea is that this world actually rotates as it orbits its nearby star, so instead of having a dark side and a light side with a habitable zone in the middle, both sides go through a constant light/dark cycle, making it so the whole planet is a habitable zone! Neat, huh?”
Editor: “Huh, that’s… an interesting idea. But, it looks like you’ve got animals and cultures in different climates too. How does that work if the whole world is being evenly heated rotisserie-style?”
Writer: “I’m glad you asked! See, the rotation of this world actually spins on a kind of tilted axis that oscillates back and forth. This makes the heating more even towards the middle, while the top and the bottom have more extreme climate fluctuations.”
Editor: “I gotta be honest, this whole climate system seems needlessly complicated. Plus, you’ve got populations living thousands of miles inland. Do you realize that keeping everything hydrated would take an impossible amount of irrigation resources?”
Writer: “Yeah, yeah! I thought of that too! It works because the air on this world is full of invisible dust particles, so when water evaporates there it condensates on the dust and accumulates into these HUGE floating bodies of water, which drift around everywhere and-”
Editor: “Stop, just stop, OK? Look, using one or two of these ideas could be neat, but nobody’s going to take you seriously if you keep cramming in more and more crazy stuff like this. You need to tone it down a bit.”
Writer: “…”
Writer: “So can I tell you about the cool magnetic force field?”
Editor: *sigh*

Tell me what you think about editors.
Who’s good? What do you look for if you’re hiring one?

How do authors structure interactive fiction manuscripts? Is there a preferred tool?
I’ve been linking in Google docs.
I like Scrivener and it works better for isolating scenes, but not so linky!
The internet tells me that there’s a format that could work on Kindle, but does it?
My main question is…. How does this turn into a product?

Fun with macro this morning! Also, traveling to South East Asia means I can eat all the fleshy, sticky, crunchy passion fruit I want! (And longan, how in love my lychee cousins) #passionfruit #shotoniphone (at Sanur, Bali) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiwEVnBh4uK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hopped from Bali to Nusa Lembongan to visit a friend in dive master training. Scuba at dawn? Hell yes, it’s like swimming in a sea of sparkles. Pics of the radiance afterwards.

Does anyone else write from every character in the scene’s point of view, to try and capture what they’re thinking and how they feel about the situation?
For example, I have three characters in a vampire / monster novel I’m writing:
1. Guy vampire, really likes girl monster and wants to take her out on a perfect date, but she’s a monster and needs help to blend in to society. Has ex girlfriend who has repeatedly helped him in this way, so she’s obviously the best candidate to help girl monster prepare for a date. He also needs someone to watch the girl monster so he can go dress up and plan things to make it a perfect date.
2. Girl monster: really likes guy vampire, will put up with anything if she can be with him. Would prefer to sleep in an alley, tree or park vs. a hotel room. WTF is all this technology and planning? (Ok if it makes him happy, but hurry up) Clothes are annoying and she tears them all the time, appearances are also annoying. Her mo: eat people / make mayhem and enjoy guy vampire.
3. Girl vampire: her ex just asked her to transform someone who is not tame into date material so he can go out with her. Also, WTF, why does he like this girl? Also… she loves him more than anything (they’re more okie family more like mother and son these days, she’s a Wendy and she knows it) and…. She wants him to not galavant off into making terrible decisions, she wants him to stay home and face whatever he’s trying to avoid by chasing a monster he oughta leave alone. Further, her desire to drag him into mayhem will result in trouble for everyone!! But!?! He’s not going to listen to her and she knows it!!
… so yeah…. It leads to completely different scenes when you write it from everyone’s perspective. How do you even pick a POV?!

What ever happened to choose your own adventure books?
I have been working on writing a fantasy / horror novel lately, and rather than getting hung up on choices, I’ve written all the directions.
Now, I have most of a novel with choices…. Like, does someone have the courage to stand up for what’s right, is this the point where someone finally loses their patience?
It’s fun to read, fun to write…. But what do I do with it?
